                <text>Nowadays the understanding of urban parks as important elements for environmental quality and social life in large cities is relevant, because of the different ecosystem services they provide to society such as thermal comfort, carbon dioxide absorption and control noise and air pollution, protection of water resources, among others. The ecosystem services offered by urban parks provide the welfare for population; they are spaces for leisure and sports activities; besides having their relevance for the study and conservation of nature. This study aimed to conduct a literature review on the study, contributions and importance of ecosystem services in urban areas; to achieve this, scientific articles from the Web of Science database, over the past 12 years (2003-2015) were consulted, using the following keywords (in English): 'ecosystem services' and 'urban areas', 'ecosystem services' and 'urban park', 'environmental services' and 'urban park', 'environmental services' and 'city'. Few studies on ecosystem services are made in cities, mostly in natural or rural areas. The main contributions found in scientific papers highlight: studies related to characterization of biodiversity, maintenance of river sources, carbon storage, and carbon dioxide absorption, increased permeability of the soil, urban planning and sustainability, payments for environmental services, valuing landscape and cultural cities, and quality of life of population. In conclusion, it is necessary to increase efforts for a better understanding of the dynamics of urban ecosystems and their services to support better urban planning strategies with sustainability criteria.</text>

                <text>A well-told story has always been the cornerstone of good marketing and business, that is, »sales« and products and destinations. Faced with increasing competitiveness and increasingly demanding visitors seeking active nature tourism and integrated facilities, tourism stakeholders face the challenges of designing innovative tourism content that will, above all, »tell the story« and create a full, multisensory experience. Main ingredient of this holistic approach to destination development reflects primarily in the fact that the community is involved into all facets of development. The location turns into a destination once a location is harmonized with the needs of the tourists. Involving visitors in the life of the destination decreases the negative impact tourism might have and creates sustainability.How does this process work in the case of natural disasters or pandemic crises? How can storytelling become an important vehicle for connecting people and creating a disaster resilient cultural heritage? What are the tools in disaster risk management especially when we talk about cultural heritage? The underlying question is also: how do/may social innovation/participatory governance contribute to a more resilient and inclusive, cultural heritage and how can such approaches be improved and applied across Europe?This paper will explain the importance of storytelling in the context of pandemic crises as COVID-19 is, but also other natural disasters such as earthquakes or floods that are due to climate change and manmade influence more frequent than ever. Based on the results of research and examples of good practice (Croatian and European), this paper will identify basic steps and tools that can help both private and public stakeholders create quality product and content. By using examples of case studies, it will also argue that innovative approaches and participatory governance could contribute to a more resilient and inclusive cultural heritage and ultimately desired tourist destinations.</text>

                <text>The feeding of Engraulis anchoita was studied in the coastal reproductive habitat of the northern population during the spawning period. Stomach contents of anchovy adults and plankton samples taken during a research cruise were examined. The highest stomach fullness values were found in the Rio de la Plata estuary, particularly at stations close to the surface salinity front. Copepods, particularly those &lt; 1 mm total length, represented by Paracalanus spp. and Oithona spp., were the most abundant prey. The dominance of small copepods in the Argentine anchovy diet is noted for the first time. Ecological implications of this fact are discussed. Other abundant preys were appendicularians, cladocerans, and fish eggs. The species composition of the zooplankton samples coincided roughly with that found in the stomach contents. However, selective feeding was observed on preys &gt; 1 mm total length. This might be explained by a low gill rakers efficiency of adult anchovies to retain small prey. In the Rio de la Plata front, both the reported large biomasses of zooplankton and the observed intense anchovy feeding revealed the ecological significance of this front, especially when compared with the contiguous 'poor in food' coastal areas.Se estudió la alimentación de la población norteña de Engraulis anchoita en el hábitat reproductivo costero durante su periodo de desove. Se analizaron los contenidos estomacales de adultos de anchoíta y muestras de zooplancton tomados durante un crucero de investigación. Los mayores valores de repleción estomacal se encontraron en el estuario del Río de la Plata, particularmente en estaciones cercanas al frente salino de superficie. Los copépodos fueron las presas más abundantes, particularmente especímenes &lt; 1 mm de longitud total, representados por Paracalanus spp. y Oithona spp. Este dominio de pequeños copépodos en la dieta de la anchoíta argentina se destaca por primera vez. Se discutieron las implicancias ecológicas de este hecho. Otras presas abundantes fueron: apendicularias, cladóceros y huevos de peces. La composición de especies en las muestras de zooplancton coincidió a grandes rasgos con las encontradas en los contenidos estomacales. Sin embargo, se observó selección sobre presas &gt; 1 mm de longitud total. Esto se puede explicar por la baja eficiencia del aparato branquial de anchoítas adultas para retener pequeñas presas. En el frente del Río de la Plata, las altas biomasas de zooplancton reportadas y la intensa alimentación observada, evidencian su significancia ecológica, especialmente cuando se compara con aguas costeras adyacentes pobres en alimento.</text>

                <text>El conocimiento local juega un papel importante en la identificación de especies arbóreas, que contribuyen a la formación de alternativas para sistemas ganaderos, en función a la conservación, la protección del ambiente y la economía de los productores. En la actualidad, se hace necesario conocer alternativas y beneficios para afrontar la variabilidad del clima, que afecta la producción ganadera. Es por ello, que el conocimiento de los productores ganaderos incide sobre la percepción y la toma de decisiones. En este sentido, el objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la importancia cultural de especies arbóreas en los sistemas ganaderos, por medio del conocimiento local. Se realizaron 57 encuestas, para el desarrollo de la metodología de índice de importancia cultural de las especies arbóreas. Se encontró, que las especies para sombra, son las de mayor preferencia; el segundo uso más frecuente es la implementación de árboles para la mitigación y la adaptación al cambio climático y, por último, especies de usos agrícolas. Además, se reconoció que las especies con mayor índice de importancia cultural (IIC) e intensidad de uso (IU) fue Zygia longifolia, con 3,21 IIC y 60% IU, respectivamente. Asimismo, se reconoció que el uso de especies para sombra son las de mayor predominancia, con 132 menciones y una diferencia significativa de 24 menciones, para cercas vivas. Este estudio permitió reconocer el conocimiento de los productores sobre el valor y el uso de las especies arbóreas y forrajeras, para determinar las especies con mayor importancia cultural.</text>

                <text>O milho, um dos cereais mais utilizados no mundo para alimentação humana e animal, é fonte de renda para várias famílias, quer seja na agricultura familiar ou em grandes propriedades. O trabalho teve como objetivo reunir resultados de pesquisas publicadas em periódicos revelando a importância relativa de características morfológicas e agronômicas da diversidade genética em milho. Devido à importância econômica e social deste cereal, a identificação de genótipos produtivos, sob condições ótimas ou de estresses, oriundos de diferentes programas de melhoramento genético, pode trazer grandes benefícios, tais como o aumento da produção e redução de insumos que reflete, em última instância, em uma diminuição de custos de produção e impactos ambientais. Neste sentido, é necessário conhecer a importância relativa de características para estudos sobre a diversidade genética, que podem auxiliar na escolha de genótipos potencialmente promissosres para as diferentes condições de cultivo. Na estimativa da importância relativa, os atributos encontrados com maior frequência nos trabalhos estudados foram: produtividade de grãos, altura de espiga, altura de planta, comprimento de espiga, diâmetro de espiga e massa de grãos. Importance of morphological and agronomic characteristics in the study of genetic biodiversity in maizeAbstract: Maize is one of the most commonly used cereal in the world, as in food or feed, and it is source of income for many families). The aim of this work was reunite the results of scientific articles about the relative importance of morphological and agronomic traits on maize genetic diversity. Due to the economic and social importance of this cereal, the identification of productive genotypes under stress conditions or not, from various breeding programs, can be promote benefits such as increased production, reduction of inputs and thus with decrease of production costs and environmental impacts. In this case, it is essential to know the relative importance of the traits for the study of genetic diversity, and this results can help in choosing genotypes for use in breeding programs in different conditions. In the estimate of relative importance, the traits with more frequency in the articles were: grain yield, ear and plant height, ear length and diameter and grain weight. </text>

                <text>Avaliou-se a presença de oocistos de Cryptosporidium spp. em amostras de fezes de 14 bezerros e de suas mães até a oitava semana pós parição. A maior taxa de excreção de oocistos foi verificada em bezerros com sete dias de idade. Das vacas, 42,8% foram positivas para Cryptosporidium no período pós-parto. Em outra etapa deste estudo, foram acompanhados 57 bezerros positivos para Cryptosporidium, com até 30 dias de idade, provenientes de 32 propriedades leiteiras, e estudouse o grau de eliminação dos oocistos com a possível ocorrência de diarréia. Em todos os animais positivos para Cryptosporidium foi pesquisada a presença de bactérias enteropatogênicas, vírus (Rotavirus e Coronavirus) e protozoários (Eimeria spp.).The aim of this research was to evaluate the shedding of Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts in fecal samples from 14 calves from one dairy farm, from birth until 60 days old and from cows until eight weeks after parturition. The higher percentage of oocysts excreted was observed in 7-day-old calves. In the post-partum period 43.7% of cows were positive for Cryptosporidium oocysts. Further analyses were accomplished in 57 calves from another 32 milk farms, previously known as positive for Cryptosporidium, through oocysts fecal screening and clinical signs analyses until calves were 30 days old. Fecal samples from all animals that presented diarrhea were screened for the presence of bacteria, virus (Rotavirus and Coronavirus ) and protozoa (Eimeria spp.).</text>

                <text>Así como  ocurre en otras regiones, enfermedades de plantas también son responsables  por grandes pérdidas en la agricultura del estado. De este modo, en  función de la intensa demanda por diagnósticos, fue creado en el ano  de 2002 la “Clínica de Enfermedades de Plantas”, localizada en   el Laboratorio de Fitopatología (CCA/UFSC). Su creación estrecho los  lazos entre productores rurales, técnicos e la UFSC, auxiliando en  el diagnostico para los problemas fitopatológicos, siendo este su objetivo  principal. A lo largo de estos ocho años de existencia, a Clínica  recibió un total de 252 muestras, provenientes en su mayoría de Santa  Catarina, pero también de Paraná y Río Grande del Sur, presentando  principalmente enfermedades causadas por hongos. Además, el trabajo  realizado por la Clínica contribuyo para capacitar profesionales en  el área de fitopatología, siendo una fuente de aprendizaje significativamente  positiva para profesores y alumnos, pues trae para el ambiente académico  la problemática real enfrentada por los agricultores en el campo.</text>

                <text>En el sector rural del municipio de Paipa muchas de las familias recurren a la cría de bovinos para obtener de esta actividad ingresos su'cientes y recursos para satisfacer sus necesidades básicas; sin embargo, poco se conoce sobre el papel verdadero de esta especie en la seguridad alimentaria de las familias campesinas de este municipio de Boyacá, por tal razón esta investigación tuvo como objetivo general analizar la importancia de la cría de bovinos en la seguridad alimentaria de treinta familias campesinas del municipio de Paipa (Boyacá) y conocer los roles sociales y culturales que se generan con esta actividad pecuaria. Como resultado se obtuvo que los bovinos son criados como segunda opción en la consecución de recursos económicos, luego de las aves. En la producción bovina en promedio se crían cinco animales por predio; las razas más utilizadas son el Normando, Holstein y los cruces entre las mismas; predomina la producción de leche con una producción media de 150 litros/semana por familia; los ingresos y costos de producción dependen del número de bovinos criados; los ingresos obtenidos se destinan a la compra de víveres para el hogar, no se estimula el ahorro; el autoconsumo de los productos lácteos es muy bajo y los bovinos de carne no son consumidos dentro del hogar; el manejo de los animales está a cargo de todos los integrantes de la familia (ambos géneros). En general, los bovinos realizan aportes económicos interesantes a las familias campesinas, pero estos ingresos no son utilizados para la compra de alimentos de alto valor nutricional, afectando además, la seguridad alimentaria de las familias estudiadas.</text>

                <text>Las selvas tropicales tienen una gran diversidad de especies de plantas que cualquier otro lugar de la Tierra (Wright, 2002). La región amazónica puede contener aproximadamente 16 mil especies de árboles (Ter Steege et al., 2016), y se pueden encontrar más de 250 especies de árboles en una sola hectárea en la Amazonía central (Kunert et al., 2017). Sin embargo, la historia evolutiva de una diversidad tan alta en plantas con flores sigue siendo poco conocida. La familia de plantas Sapotaceae está ampliamente distribuida en los trópicos (Smedmark y Anderberg, 2007) y son un componente importante de las selvas tropicales de América del Sur (Pitman et al., 2005; Terborgh y Andresen, 1998). La familia Sapotaceae produce madera de calidad y frutas tropicales, varias especies producen látex, siendo una familia de plantas ambiental y económicamente importantes.En la Tabla 1 se describen las especies de la familia Sapotaceae del Centro de monitoreo 1 (Río Los Amigos), puesto de controlMalonowski y el Centro de Investigación Tambopata (TRC). Se evaluaron 6 parcelas de 5000 m2 donde se registraron a todos losindividuos de Sapotaceas con un DAP &gt;10 cm. Las especies de la familia Sapotaceae sirven como alimento para mamíferos en la selvatropical, estos a su vez diseminan las semillas en grandes extensiones de bosque, jugando un rol importante en la ecología de estafamilia (Boissier et al., 2020). Los estudios de diversidad en las selvas tropicales de Perú son pocos, el conocer las especies que loconforman y su interacción con otros individuos como mamíferos, ayudará a tener un mejor entendimiento de cómo podría afectar elcambio climático a estas zonas (Collinson y Hooker, 1991).</text>
