En la provincia de La Pampa al igual que en el resto del país, son escasos los antecedentes sobre organismos asociados al cultivo de amaranto, por tal motivo los objetivos de este trabajo fueron estudiar la entomofauna asociada a dicho cultivo. El trabajo se llevó a cabo durante la campaña 2006 - 07, en un lote del campo experimental de la Facultad de Agronomía de la UNLPam., ubicada sobre la Ruta Nacional W 35 en el Km. 334,10 km al norte de Santa Rosa (La Pampa). El ensayo siguió un diseño de bloques (N=4) con 18 tratamientos (variedades) por bloque. En cada tratamiento se seleccionaron 6 plantas al azar y se revisó mediante observación directa la planta completa. Los muestreos se realizaron semanalmente durante todo el ciclo del cultivo. La entomofauna fue variando en densidad en los diferentes estadios fenológicos del cultivo. Los ejemplares identificados se agruparon en diez órdenes que comprenden 21 familias y 23 géneros Los órdenes con el mayor número de familias fueron Coleóptera (6) y Hemiptera (4). Dentro del Orden Coleóptera las familias más representadas fueron Curculionidae y Coccinelidae; en Hemiptera la familia Pentatomidae. En estado de plántula la especie fitófaga con mayor densidad poblacional fue Acromyrmex striatus (Roger) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae). Durante los estados vegetativos las más abundantes fueron Epicauta adspersa (Klujj (Coleóptera: Meloidae), Nezara viridula (L) y Edessa meditabunda (F.) Shchennikova Description An account of the resource The article is devoted to the analysis of the structure of sown areas and characteristics of barley varieties zoned in the Kirov region for 2020. In 2019 in the Kirov region the varieties cultivated in production for more than 20 years had the largest specific weight – 50.1 % of the acreage occupied with barley. Those cultivated for more than 10 years had 36.1 %; from 5 to 10 years – 13.8 %. Certified sowings varied from year to year in percentage to the occupied area. There is a gradual decrease in unsorted sowings of barley from 3.0 thousand hectares in 2017 up to 1.18 thousand hectares in 2019. The areas sown with barley varieties bred in Federal Agricultural Research Center of the North East named N. V. Rudnitsky (FARC North-East) in the structure of sown areas in 2019 were from 21.5 % in the southern zone up to 57.8 % in the northern zone of the Kirov region. For the whole of the region the greatest distribution was recorded among Belarussian cultivars Zazersky 85 (39.3 % of the areas sown with barley), and cultivars bred in FARC North-East: Ecolog (10.8 %), Rodnik Prikamiya (7.1 %) and Novichok (7.0 %). In northern districts of the region the ratio changed: Ecolog – 27.2 %, Rodnik Prikamiya – 18.9 %, Novichok – 9.0 %, Zazersky 85 – 7.7 %. High productivity (4.22-4.79 t/ha in average), resistance to lodging and diseases characterize the zoned cultivars. The main disadvantage of barley assortment offered for zoning is the lack of stable yield and differences in duration of the growing season among the varieties. All cultivars belong to the group of mid-season, except for the mid-late cultivar Zazersky 85. The region is short of the sources of high-quality raw materials for forage production; only 30.7 % of all assortment of barley in the region are presented by cultivars with high grain quality (Ecolog, Belgorodsky 100, Rodnik Prikamiya and Pamyati Rodinoy). Currently, the trend for developing high-yield early, resistant to lodging and diseases barley varieties of high grain quality is to become the key factor in breeding work. Totolyan Description An account of the resource By August 2020, more than 850000 cases of new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) caused by SARSCoV-2 were confirmed in the Russian Federation, with the Rostov Region as one of the ten most affected regions in Russia. The spread of the disease is largely determined by the state of population immunity in a certain area. Our research focuses on specific humoral immune response and estimates the level of herd immunity to SARS-CoV-2 virus among the population of the Rostov Region.Materials and methods. The study involved 3,048 people; the volunteers participating in the study were divided into seven age groups. The content of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 was determined applying ELISA using a kit for the analysis of human serum or blood plasma for the presence of specific IgG to the nucleocapsid of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, manufactured by the State Scientific Center of Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology (Obolensk) in accordance with the instructions for use.Results and discussion. The assessment of seroprevalence to SARS-CoV-2 in the Rostov Region showed that the proportion of people positive for IgG to the new coronavirus was 16.5 %, the range of seropositive individuals in the general population was between 13.9 % and 19.1 % (p&lt;0.05). There were no significant gender differences in the degree of seroprevalence with a positive result registered in 16.6 % of women and 16.5 % of men. A high level of humoral immunity to SARS-CoV-2 was established in individuals aged 1–17 against the background of low incidence rates, which may indicate the dominance of asymptomatic forms of the disease in this age group. The highest level of seropositivity was found in preschool children (33.6 %), students (29.3 %), employees (17.3 %), and education professionals (15.3 %). The objective of this research was to conduct a two-year evaluation of these compounds in the fruits of seven advanced breeding selections. They were mainly selected for early bearing and high oil content from progenies of crosses between the cultivars ‘Arbequina’ and ‘Picual’. An analysis of variance showed high genotypic effects, non-significant year effects, and genotype x year interactions of low magnitude. The selections showed great variability for the traits, surpassing in some cases the parental values. One selection with total tocopherol content of 263 mg·kg−1 fruit flesh, compared to a maximum of 148 mg·kg −1 in the parents, and another one with Δ5-avenasterol concentration of 30.7% of total sterols, compared to a maximum of 22.1% in the parents, were the most relevant phenotypes. Queiróz Description An account of the resource The main viruses involved in acute respiratory diseases among children are: respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenzavirus (FLU), parainfluenzavirus (PIV), adenovirus (AdV), human rhinovirus (HRV), and the human metapneumovirus (hMPV). The purpose of the present study was to identify respiratory viruses that affected children younger than five years old in Uberlândia, Midwestern Brazil. Nasopharyngeal aspirates from 379 children attended at Hospital de Clínicas (HC/UFU), from 2001 to 2004, with acute respiratory disease, were collected and tested by immunofluorescence assay (IFA) to detect RSV, FLU A and B, PIV 1, 2, and 3 and AdV, and RT-PCR to detect HRV. RSV was detected in 26.4% (100/379) of samples, FLU A and B in 9.5% (36/379), PIV 1, 2 and 3 in 6.3% (24/379) and AdV in 3.7% (14/379). HRV were detected in 29.6% (112/379) of the negative and indeterminate samples tested by IFI. RSV, particularly among children less than six months of life, and HRV cases showed highest incidence. Negative samples by both IFA and RT-PCR might reflect the presence of other pathogens, such as hMPV, coronavirus, and bacteria. Laboratorial diagnosis constituted an essential instrument to determine the incidence of the most common viruses in respiratory infections among children in this region. Pintado Description An account of the resource A menudo se ha descrito la vida vegetal en la Antártida como extremadamente pobre y ecológicamente simple. Sin embargo, esto sólo es cierto si nos referimos a las localidades más inhóspitas de la Antártida continental. En la región conocida como Antártida marítima, costa occidental de la Península Antártica e islas adyacentes, la situación es bien distinta. El número de especies de líquenes supera las 350 y se han descrito más de 100 especies de musgos y hepáticas, aunque sólo existen dos plantas con flores. En el ámbito de la ecología vegetal, la cuestión fundamental que ha preocupado a los investigadores hasta ahora es si los líquenes y musgos de la Antártida presentan algún tipo de adaptación que les permita sobrevivir mejor que otras plantas en este medio. Un segundo aspecto de gran interés en la actualidad es determinar la capacidad de adaptación de la flora antártica ante el aumento de la radiación ultravioleta (UV) como consecuencia del agujero de ozono, y ante el calentamiento global. Los líquenes antárticos se han mostrado muy tolerantes a amplios periodos de frío y sequía y son capaces de mantener una fotosíntesis activa a temperatura por debajo del punto de congelación, sin embargo algunas de las especies estudiadas no son capaces de mantener tasas positivas de fotosíntesis si la temperatura sube dos o tres grados. Por otra parte, tanto musgos como líquenes se muestran muy resistentes a la radiación UV. Los líquenes y comunidades microbianas de los Valles Secos y Montañas Transantárticas no parecen limitados por la más dura combinación de frío, sequedad y radiación que se produce en nuestro planeta. Estas especies son excelentes candidatos para experimentos de astrobiología en el espacio exterior, con el fin de demostrar la capacidad de supervivencia de células complejas originadas en la Tierra a posibles transferencias interplanetarias.
