Con el fin de establecer los principales indicadores y protocolos que permitan la caracterización bromatológica, fitoquímica y antioxidante de productos derivados de S. officinarum, se realizó un rastreo bibliográfico a través de la base documental del Icontec y Scopus, en el periodo comprendido entre enero de 1990 y febrero de 2021. Lo anterior, bajo lineamientos que permitieran establecer un panorama mundial sobre las tendencias de investigación y desarrollo, análisis de productos finales e identificación de los principales protocolos normalizados y no normalizados. Fue así como se lograron identificar las principales NTC (Normas Técnicas Colombianas) y los protocolos más empleados para la cuantificación de los indicadores fisicoquímicos y de algunos metabolitos de interés, confirmando y estableciendo sus efectos positivos para la salud animal y humana, como potenciador inmunológico, antitóxico, citoprotector, anticariógeno y antioxidante. Adicionalmente, se logró determinar que los metales pesados (plomo, mercurio, cadmio, arsénico), furfural, 5-hidroximetilfurfural y acrilamida son los principales contaminantes sobre los cuales se debe establecer una estrategia de mitigación. Con esto, se hace evidente la necesidad de generar una política nacional que posibilite cuantificar los indicadores fisicoquímicos exigidos, el contenido de compuestos bioactivos y la presencia de contaminantes peligrosos en los productos derivados de la caña de azúcar, con el fin de dar cumplimiento a la normativa legal para la distribución y comercialización de productos azucarados en el mercado nacional e internacional y, por qué no, iniciar su diversificación. A partir de ello se proponen estrategias para impulsar la implementación de la política climática nacional y, por consiguiente, la reducción de los impactos del cambio climático. Se organizaron y se asignó un puntaje de acuerdo con el número de instrumentos. La suma equivalió al 100 % de cumplimiento y se dividió en cinco rangos (muy bajo, bajo, medio, alto y muy alto). La mayoría de los estados se encuentran en un nivel bajo y muy bajo de cumplimiento (63 %), once estados con un cumplimiento medio y uno con un cumplimiento muy alto. Se observó que hay un avance en ciertas entidades, pero hace falta desarrollar e impulsar la política de cambio climático a nivel estatal. El aporte principal de este análisis fue la determinación del nivel de cumplimiento para cada estado, reconociendo sus particularidades de cumplimiento. Además, por medio de modelos de regresión lineal múltiple se determinaron las relaciones tanto de la superficie ensalitrada como de la producción agrícola, con la temperatura, superficie afectada por niveles freáticos superficiales, volumen de riego, superficie cosechada y precipitación pluvial. Los resultados evidenciaron que el aumento de superficie ensalitrada está relacionado con el incremento de temperatura; mismo que se asoció con la disminución del volumen de cosechas y con el aumento de superficie con niveles freáticos. Se encontró que los volúmenes de riego impactan en el incremento de la superficie agrícola con niveles freáticos someros y con el aumento de superficie ensalitrada. Con el calentamiento global los problemas de salinidad del suelo se incrementaron entre 24.1 y 15.8% en los estratos de suelo a 30 y 60 cm de profundidad, respectivamente. Asimismo, se estimó un crecimiento del 21.9% de superficies con niveles freáticos superficiales. El impacto del calentamiento global en el volumen de producción agrícola se estimó en una reducción del 18.9% del volumen de cosechas. In addition to mobility restrictions of people, the World Health Organization and the Governments have prescribed maintaining an inter-personal distance of 1.5 or 2 meters (about 6 feet) from each other in order to minimize the risk of contagion through the droplets that we usually disseminate around us from nose and mouth. However, recently published studies support the hypothesis of virus transmission over a distance of 2 meters from an infected person. Researchers have proved the higher aerosol and surface stability of SARS-COV-2 as compared with SARS-COV-1 (with the virus remaining viable and infectious in aerosol for hours) and that airborne transmission of SARS-CoV can occur besides close-distance contacts. Indeed, there is reasonable evidence about the possibility of SARS-COV-2 airborne transmission due to its persistence into aerosol droplets in a viable and infectious form. Based on the available knowledge and epidemiological observations, it is plausible that small particles containing the virus may diffuse in indoor environments covering distances up to 10 meters from the emission sources, thus representing a kind of aerosol transmission. On-field studies carried out inside Wuhan Hospitals showed the presence of SARS-COV-2 RNA in air samples collected in the hospitals and also in the surroundings, leading to the conclusion that the airborne route has to be considered an important pathway for viral diffusion. Similar findings are reported in analyses concerning air samples collected at the Nebraska University Hospital. On March 16th, we have released a Position Paper emphasizing the airborne route as a possible additional factor for interpreting the anomalous COVID-19 outbreaks in northern Italy, ranked as one of the most polluted areas in Europe and characterized by high particulate matter (PM) concentrations. The available information on the SARS-COV-2 spreading supports the hypothesis of airborne diffusion of infected droplets from person to person at a distance greater than two meters (6 feet). The inter-personal distance of 2 m can be reasonably considered as an effective protection only if everybody wears face masks in daily life activities. Partiendo de una imagen Landsat ETM+de 2001 y usando información de grandes grupos morfofuncionales y de cobertura de T. testudinum adquiridas en 525 estaciones de muestreo, se obtienen las semillas para la clasificación supervisada de los hábitats bénticos (8 clases). Con el fin de cuantificar los cambios ocasionados por dos huracanes, se usaron dos imágenes, una de 1988 (Gilberto) y 1995 (Roxanne) y tres más (2003, 2005 y 2007) para monitoreo sin efectos meteorológicos mayores; a estos 6 mapas categóricos se les aplicó un análisis de Ecología del Paisaje usando 8 índices que describen las características espaciales, de estructura, función, cambio de los elementos (matriz-mancha-corredor), efectos sobre el ecosistema, conectividad, bordes, forma del parche y fragmentación del hábitat. Los modelos indican que T. testudinum puede clasificarse como un continuo (matriz), pues los fragmentos no se observan de forma intermitente, sino como una progresión de zonas mínimas a máximas en referencia a su cobertura (corredores ecológicos). No poseen una forma regular, indicando que los impactos son recientes y pueden ser debidos a efectos directos (huracanes de alta intensidad) e indirectos (aporte de sedimentos). Los fragmentos de tipo 'suelos desnudos' presentan una distribución discontinua, considerándose sitios que han permanecido estables en una larga escala de tiempo; las zonas con coberturas más densas ('camas', 'praderas medias' y 'praderas') presentan baja fragmentación y alta conexión de sus fragmentos. Las características de poseer un perímetro irregular y crecimiento de formal radial, sugieren que el impacto de los meteoros no tiene efecto en la capacidad de resiliencia de T. testudinum en este ecosistema, indicando el buen estado de la calidad ambiental de la bahía para su crecimiento. Here we investigated the challenges faced by polypeptide segments of a non-vectorial β-barrel fold. Besides the biological interest behind the SARS coronavirus non-structural protein 1 (nsp1, 117 amino acids), this study model has two structural features that motivated its use in this work: 1- its recombinant production is dependent on the temperature, with greater solubility when expressed at low temperatures. This is an indication of the cotranslational guidance to the native protein conformation. 2- Conversely, nsp1 has a six-stranded, mixed parallel/antiparallel β-barrel with intricate long-range interactions, indicating it will need the full-length protein to fold properly. We used non-denaturing purification conditions that allowed the characterization of polypeptide chains of different lengths, mimicking the landscape of the cotranslational fold of a β-barrel, and avoiding the major technical hindrances of working with the nascent polypeptide bound to the ribosome. Our results showed partially folded states formed as soon as the amino acids of the second β-strand were present (55 amino acids). These partially folded states are different based on the length of polypeptide chain. The native α-helix (amino acids 24-37) was identified as a transient structure (~20-30% propensity). We identified the presence of regular secondary structure after the fourth native β-strand is present (89 amino acids), in parallel to the collapse to a non-native 3D structure. Interestingly the polypeptide sequences of the native strands β2, β3 and β4 have characteristics of α-helices. Our comprehensive analyses support the idea that incomplete polypeptide chains, such as the ones of nascent proteins much earlier than the end of the translation, adopt an abundance of specific transient folds, instead of disordered conformations.
