Early detection with fast and sensitive assays and timely intervention are crucial for interrupting the spread of the COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2). Using a mismatch-tolerant amplification technique, we developed a simple, rapid, sensitive and visual reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) assay for SARS-CoV-2 detection based on its N gene. The assay has a high specificity and sensitivity, and robust reproducibility, and its results can be monitored using a real-time PCR machine or visualized via colorimetric change from red to yellow. The limit of detection (LOD) of the assay is 118.6 copies of SARS-CoV-2 RNA per 25 μL reaction. The reaction can be completed within 30 min for real-time fluorescence monitoring, or 40 min for visual detection when the template input is more than 200 copies per 25 μL reaction. To evaluate the viability of the assay, a comparison between the RT-LAMP and a commercial RT-qPCR assay was made using 56 clinical samples. The SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP assay showed perfect agreement in detection with the RT-qPCR assay. The newly-developed SARS-CoV-2 RT-LAMP assay is a simple and rapid method for COVID-19 surveillance. Moreover, the common viral pathogens in children was influenza A (non H5), while it was varied in adults as influenza A (non H5), Enterovirus, HRV A/B, Coronavirus 229E/NL63 were found very low. Bacterial mix infection of Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophillus influenzae mainly occurred in children while co-infections of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Streptococcus pneumoniae were frequently found in adults. In addition, the major bacterial-viral mix infection found among children was influenza A and Klebsiella pneumoniae.Conclusion: From all of the samples tested, bacterial infections remain the most common etiologies of ARI in adults and children although there were infections caused by viruses. Those willing to participate were consented, and past COVID-19 infection was confirmed by a SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody test (ARCHITECT, Abbott Laboratories) from June 15, 2020, to July 3, 2020. Clinical data were collected from the electronic medical record, and self-reported symptoms were documented with a participant survey.Results: A total of 43 staff members (86.0% of 50 total laboratory staff) participated. A majority of participants were less than 40 years old (69.8%), were White (86.0%), and were women (79.1%); mean body mass index was 24.9 ± 4.7 kg/m2. Of the 43 staff members tested for past COVID-19 infection, 3 (7.0%) had a positive SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibody result. There were no unique features in the 3 SARS-CoV-2 antibody-positive subjects; of these, 2 had known prior COVID-19 infection and 1 was asymptomatic.Conclusions: This study provides clinical data on the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibody in echocardiography and stress laboratory staff who regularly participate in a variety of procedures that are or may be aerosol-generating. A prospective follow-up study. In 2019, the baseline Urban Health and Nutrition Study 2019 (UHNS-2019) was conducted in 603 households, which were selected randomly from 30 clusters to represent underserved urban settlements in Colombo. In the present study, 35 % of households from the UHNS-2019 cohort were randomly selected for repeat interviews, 1 year after the baseline study and 6 months after COVID-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka. Height/length and weight of children and women were re-measured, household food insecurity was reassessed, and associated factors were gathered through interviewer-administered questionnaires. Differences in measurements at baseline and follow-up studies were compared. A total of 207 households, comprising 127 women and 109 children were included. The current prevalence of children with wasting and overweight was higher in the follow-up study than at baseline UHNS-2019 (18·3 % v. 13·7 %; P = 0·26 and 8·3 % v. 3·7 %; P = 0·12, respectively). There was a decrease in prevalence of child stunting (14·7 % v. 11·9 %; P = 0·37). A change was not observed in overall obesity in women, which was about 30·7 %. Repeated lockdown was associated with a significant reduction in food security from 57 % in UHNS-2019 to 30 % in the current study (P < 0·001). There was an increase in wasting and overweight among children while women had a persistent high prevalence of obesity. This population needs suitable interventions to improve nutrition status of children and women to minimise susceptibility to COVID-19. We analyze some aspects of the ecology and distribution of the vegetation types and evaluate their degree of peril and value of conservation. Se estudiaron los tipos de vegetación del Llano de Paletará, municipio de Coconuco, departamento del Cauca, Colombia. Basados en la fisonomía y composición florística de la vegetación identificamos 8 tipos de vegetación, los cuales representan los tipos de vegetación paramunos de carácter azonal más extensos de la Cordillera Central registrados hasta el momento. Title A name given to the resource VII Reunión Argentina de Parasitoidólogos Creator An entity primarily responsible for making the resource Reunión Argentina de Parasitoidólogos VII RAP Description An account of the resource Entre los días 11 y 13 de septiembre pasados se llevó a cabo en el Centro Cultural Provincial MEDASUR de la ciudad de Santa Rosa la VII Reunión Argentina de Parasitoidólogos (RAP). La reunión se desarrolló bajo el lema “confluencia de diversas miradas”, en alusión al abordaje multidisciplinario que caracteriza al estudio de los parasitoides y en analogía a la posición geográfica de la provincia de La Pampa en el centro del país a la que confluyen caminos desde los cuatro puntos cardinales. El logotipo de la reunión incluye una representación de Hydrangeocola llaollinMartínez (Hymenoptera, Braconidae), especie recientemente descripta a partir de ejemplares procedentes de la periferia de Santa Rosa cuyos representantes se comportan como endoparasitoides larvales de dípteros cecidómidos inductores de agallas en el llaollín, Lycium chilense (Solanaceae). También incluye una síntesis de los diseños presentes en los textiles autóctonos de la provincia. Esta reunión fue organizada por docentes – investigadores, becarios y tesistas que desarrollan sus actividades en las Facultades de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales y de Agronomía de la Universidad Nacional de La Pampa, INTA Estación Experimental Agropecuaria Anguil y CONICET. La RAP es un evento que se desarrolla periódicamente desde el año 2006 en diversas ciudades del país y pretende contribuir a la consolidación de los estudios sobre parasitoides, línea temática de valor teórico y aplicado al manejo de plagas, así como incrementar el intercambio de información, experiencias y vínculos entre investigadores de todo el país. Al evento asistieron 55 colegas nacionales, provenientes de las provincias de Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Corrientes, La Pampa, Mendoza, San Juan, Tucumán y Rio Negro, así como también de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Durante este evento se expusieron como presentaciones orales 35 trabajos científicos en las siguientes sesiones: Control Biológico; Biología, Fisiología y Comportamiento; Sistemática, Taxonomía y Biodiversidad; Ecología de Poblaciones y Comunidades y Tesis Doctorales. Al inicio de cada sesión temática, destacados especialistas brindaron conferencias de apertura. Los disertantes invitados fueron: Dra. Laura Varone (CONICET - FUEDEI), Dr. José Crespo (CONICET - FCEyN, UBA), Dra. Fabiana Gallardo (CIC - FCNyM, UNLP), Dra. María Laura Bernaschini (IMBIV, CONICET – UNC), Ing. Agr. (Msc) M.R. Alcides Aguirre (INTA) y Msc. Analía Gopar (INTA). Esta reunión permitió afianzar los vínculos existentes entre investigadores, así como también dar a conocer nuevas líneas de investigación por parte de investigadores jóvenes y especialmente por tesistas doctorales. Siguiendo con el espíritu de ediciones anteriores de la Reunión Argentina de Parasitoidólogos, esta séptima edición fue totalmente gratuita para los asistentes, sin costo de inscripción. En tal sentido queremos expresar nuestro agradecimiento a las instituciones que financiaron el evento: Universidad Nacional de La Pampa, Secretaría de Cultura (Gobierno de La Pampa), Ministerio de la Producción (Gobierno de La Pampa), Subsecretaría de Ambiente (Gobierno de La Pampa) y Colegio de Ingenieros Agrónomos de La Pampa.
