                <text>Neste estudo objetivou-se validar dois órgãos (brânquia e fígado) de Hoplias                   malabaricus para análise de biomarcadores de contaminação aquática na                Área de Proteção Ambiental (APA) do Maracanã em São Luís-MA. Exemplares de traíra                foram capturados em uma lagoa de policultivo e no Rio Ambude, localizados na APA do                Maracanã. A biometria foi realizada em laboratório. Brânquias e o fígado de cada                espécime foram fixados em formol a 10% e mantidos em álcool a 70% até a execução da                técnica histológica usual. Cortes de aproximadamente 5µm de espessura foram corados                em hematoxilina e eosina (HE). Os resultados referentes à biometria dos peixes                capturados durante o período de estiagem indicaram que o comprimento total e padrão                dos exemplares foram maiores quando comparados com os indivíduos do período chuvoso.                As alterações hepáticas identificadas foram: lipidose, necrose, infiltração                leucocitária, vacuolização do citoplasma, hemossiderina e centro de melanomacrófagos.                Constataram-se as seguintes lesões branquiais: fusão lamelar, aneurisma lamelar,                deslocamento e necrose do epitélio, proliferações de células do muco e dilatação                capilar. As respostas biológicas de H. malabaricus, registradas em                nível branquial e hepático, podem ser caracterizadas como biomarcadores de                contaminação aquática. As brânquias mostraram-se como os melhores órgãos para esse                tipo de análise na espécie. Esses resultados indicam que os peixes da região                apresentam a saúde comprometida por poluentes presentes nos ambientes analisados.</text>

                <text>Las raíces finas juegan un papel importante en la ecología y dinámica de los bosques tropicales. La biomasa de raíces finas (BRF) está determinada principalmente por las características del suelo (disponibilidad de agua y nutrientes) y es mayor en suelos con menor fertilidad. Para evaluar esta hipótesis se establecieron cinco parcelas permanentes de una hectárea en las localidades de Opogodó (Condoto) y Pacurita (Quibdó), Chocó, Colombia, donde se midió la BRF a 0-10 y 10-20 cm de profundidad, y la fertilidad edáfica (pH, nutrientes y textura), los cuales se relacionaron con la BRF. Ambas localidades presentaron suelos pobres en nutrientes, con mayor contenido de arena, N total y materia orgánica (MO) en Opogodó. La BRF presentó poca relación con la textura y el contenido de nutrientes del suelo, pues solo las correlaciones de la BRF con el pH y el contenido de arcilla fueron significativas. En ambas zonas la BRF disminuyó con la profundidad; los valores encontrados entre 0 - 20 cm de profundidad fueron de 5.91 y 6.28 t ha-1 en Opogodó y Pacurita, respectivamente. El análisis a escala de la región tropical mostró una relación inversa entre el contenido del P disponible y la BRF de los bosques.</text>

                <text>El estudio de los biocombustibles sigue en constante desarrollo, desde hace cinco décadas. Este artículo resume el análisis de diversas publicaciones científicas recientes, relacionadas con biocombustibles de tercera generación utilizando microalgas. Se presenta una visión general de biocombustibles y su clasificación, las bases teóricas de microalgas, técnicas para su cultivo, cosecha y pretratamiento de su biomasa. También se describen brevemente tecnologías prometedoras para obtener biocombustibles de gran demanda potencial mundial, considerando las características técnicas del proceso, en función de las especies de microalgas que tienen los más altos rendimientos y productividades para cada tipo de biocombustible: Biodiesel (extracción de lípidos, transesterificación y purificación), etanol (hidrólisis de azúcares, fermentación y purificación) y biogás (digestión anaerobia). La mayoría de los estudios están enfocados en la producción de lípidos, siendo Chlorella vulgaris, Nanochloropsis sp. y Botryococcus braunii (A) las microalgas más utilizadas para obtener biodiesel. Sin embargo, existen pocos estudios centrados en la producción de biomasa microalgal para producir bioetanol, así, las microalgas Porphyridium cruentum y Spirogira sp. podrían utilizarse para producir bioetanol, con la ventaja de no contener lignina. El biogás se produce por biodigestión anaeróbica de los residuos de biomasa microalgal en biorrefinerías, pero su producción comercial está muy limitada por los altos costos productivos y porque existen otras biomasas muy competitivas económicamente. La necesidad de producir biocombustibles utilizando biomasa microalgal, está alcanzando un mayor auge, siendo la propuesta trascendental, poner en marcha una biorrefinería, principalmente enfocada en la producción optima de biomasa microalgal como la clave principal de todo el proceso.</text>

                <text>La actividad microbiológica es esencial para mantener la calidad de los suelos y los sistemas agroforestales surgen como alternativa, para el manejo agroecológico y sostenible del suelo. Este estudio evaluó el efecto de las variedades de café (Caturra y Catuaí) y de las fluctuaciones por épocas climáticas, sobre algunas propiedades microbiológicas del suelo, como indicadores de calidad, en un sistema agroforestal. Las muestras de suelo, se tomaron en la capa superior, a 5cm de profundidad, durante un año en épocas seca y lluviosa. Las mayores emisiones de CO2, se observaron en los suelos con la variedad Catuaí, en época seca. Los niveles de carbono de la biomasa microbiana (Cmic) no mostraron diferencias entre las variables estudiadas. Los valores obtenidos para el cociente metabólico (qCO2) fueron mayores en los suelos con la variedad Catuaí, mientras que el cociente microbiano (qMic) presentó los mayores valores en los suelos con la variedad Caturra. El cociente de eficiencia metabólica (qCO2.Corg-1) no mostró diferencias entre los suelos estudiados; sin embargo, sus niveles fueron más altos para las muestras tomadas durante la época seca. La microbiota del suelo denotó sensibilidad a los cambios por época climática de muestreo y tipo de variedad cultivada, mientras que las constantes ecofisiológicas resultaron sensiblemente apropiadas, para evaluar la calidad del suelo.</text>

                <text>La biomasa residual vegetal es una alternativa para la producción de energía a nivel mundial. La conversión de los residuos vegetales en alguna forma energética requiere la aplicación de tecnologías que estén acorde a lo expresado en el numeral IV, artículo 2 del Protocolo de Kyoto de la convención marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre cambio climático (1998) y normativas específicas de cada país o región. Las tecnologías que se le pueden aplicar a los residuos vegetales son bien conocidas a nivel mundial, dentro de estas se incluye: la combustión que permite generar un combustible denominado bio-oil, la gasificación que genera principalmente dióxido de carbono y amoniaco, la pirolisis que genera un gas combustible, y procesos biológicos (fermentación y digestión) que generan bioetanol y biogás. Actualmente en España, Estados Unidos, Brasil y Alemania, entre otros, se vienen desarrollando políticas con el fin de incentivar la implementación de plantas de biomasa. En Colombia la transformación de la biomasa residual vegetal hasta ahora se encuentra en fase de experimentación en laboratorios de Investigación científica principalmente en instituciones de educación superior.</text>

Se adelantó un experimento con cuatro tratamientos aleatorizados con tres repeticiones, para un total de 12 unidades experimentales de 9 m2 cada una. La aplicación de correctivos y enmiendas se realizó una semana antes de la siembra, con base en el análisis de suelos. Al día 70 de la siembra se realizó un corte de emparejamiento para homogeneizar cada parcela. Las mediciones de producción de biomasa verde y calidad nutricional se determinaron en el estadio de botón floral, a los 210 días de la siembra. Se aplicaron pruebas de análisis de varianza ANOVA, no encontrándose diferencias significativas entre las variedades de alfalfa para las condiciones ambientales del municipio de Pamplona, por lo que todas pueden introducirse en este agroecosistema.</text>

                <text>O trabalho foi conduzido no Pantanal, em fitofisionomia de campo a savana, regionalmente denominada de caronal, pela dominância de Elyonurus muticus. Os objetivos foram avaliar o efeito da queima anual de caronal sobre a biomassa aérea acumulada, produção primária líquida da parte aérea (PPLA) do estrato herbáceo e cobertura do solo. Foram coletados dados mensais de biomassa aérea acumulada durante dois anos, em uma área com queima em set./95 e ago./96, e outra sem queima. A PPLA foi estimada através das diferenças de biomassa aérea viva coletada mensalmente. A queima reduziu a biomassa aérea acumulada em aproximadamente 36% no primeiro ano e 50% no segundo. Houve uma tendência de redução de biomassa acumulada com a repetição da queima. A PPLA do estrato herbáceo nas áreas sem queima e com queima foi 3.850 kg/ha e 4.980 kg/ha no primeiro ano, e 5.090 kg/ha e 2.880 kg/ha no segundo, respectivamente. A cobertura do solo 30 dias após a queima foi de aproximadamente 30%, e somente quatro a seis meses depois foi restabelecido o porcentual da área sem queima</text>

                <text>A produção de biomassa e extração de nutrientes na cultura da cebola (Allium cepa) é influenciada pela nutrição das plantas. O experimento teve por objetivo avaliar a produção de biomassa e extração de nutrientes da cebola sob adubação convencional e orgânica com o uso de biofertilizantes. Com este propósito foi conduzido um experimento de campo, na safra 2010, num Cambissolo Háplico, em Ituporanga-SC. Aplicaram-se quatro tratamentos: convencional (T1) (adubação no plantio e de cobertura e tratos fitossanitários recomendados oficialmente para a cultura); e três outros com adubação de plantio com adubos permitidos pelo MAPA para sistemas orgânicos de produção, diferenciados pela aplicação em cobertura via solo com biofertilizante à base de esterco de peru [bioperu (T2)] ou esterco bovino [biobovino (T3)] ou biofertilizante à base de esterco bovino pulverizado a 3% [biobovino pulverizado (T4)]. Utilizou-se a cultivar Epagri 352-Bola Precoce. Semeadura, transplante e colheita foram realizados em 03/05, 12/07 e 06/12/2010, respectivamente. Foram avaliados durante o ciclo, em dias após o transplante (DAT), a extração total de nutrientes do sistema aéreo (aos 48, 68 e 108 DAT) e bulbos (148 DAT), a análise do solo (aos 48, 68, 108 e 148 DAT). O crescimento (biomassa fresca) e o desenvolvimento (número de folhas) das plantas foram avaliados aos 30, 48, 68 e 108 DAT. A adição de nutrientes via biofertilizantes no solo e foliar não é capaz de suprir a necessidade de nutrientes, sendo responsável por gerar desequilíbrios que diminuem o crescimento e desenvolvimento da cultura.</text>
