                <text>The lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been reported to reduce ambient air pollution in many cities globally. This study aims to examine whether air pollution dropped in Memphis, a typical U.S. metropolitan city and transportation hub, during the lockdown from 25 March to 4 May, 2020. Daily air pollution data measured at five representative monitoring stations in the Memphis Metropolitan Area were downloaded from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Quality System. The mean concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and ozone during the lockdown were compared with the baseline concentrations measured during the same periods in 2017–2019 using linear regression models. The average vehicle miles traveled (VMT) reduced by 57% in this region during the lockdown compared to that during 1–24 March, 2020. The mean (± standard deviation) concentrations of PM2.5, NO2, and ozone were 7.5 ± 2.6 μg/m3, 16.5 ± 9.4 ppb, and 44.5 ± 8.4 ppb, respectively, during the lockdown. They did not statistically differ from the baseline concentrations, nor were they lower than the mean concentrations in the prior month (25 February–24 March, 2020), after accounting for meteorological conditions. The lack of effect could be explained by the small contribution of traffic emissions to air pollution. The results suggest that the “stay-at-home” order had an insignificant impact on reducing air pollution in Memphis.</text>

                <text>Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is one of the most severe emerging infectious diseases of the 21st century so far. SARS caused a pandemic that spread throughout mainland China for 7 months, infecting 5318 persons in 194 administrative regions. Using detailed mainland China epidemiological data, we study spatiotemporal aspects of this person-to-person contagious disease and simulate its spatiotemporal transmission dynamics via the Bayesian Maximum Entropy (BME) method. The BME reveals that SARS outbreaks show autocorrelation within certain spatial and temporal distances. We use BME to fit a theoretical covariance model that has a sine hole spatial component and exponential temporal component and obtain the weights of geographical and temporal autocorrelation factors. Using the covariance model, SARS dynamics were estimated and simulated under the most probable conditions. Our study suggests that SARS transmission varies in its epidemiological characteristics and SARS outbreak distributions exhibit palpable clusters on both spatial and temporal scales. In addition, the BME modelling demonstrates that SARS transmission features are affected by spatial heterogeneity, so we analyze potential causes. This may benefit epidemiological control of pandemic infectious diseases.</text>

                <text>This paper aims to know the implementation of distance learning during COVID-19 cases in Pacitan and to find out the obstacles in handling distance learning in Pacitan. This is phenomenological research. The data were collected by using an online interview with parents. There were 48 parents of kindergarten and elementary school students as the sample. The researcher selected the sample by using simple random sampling. The results showed that there were five implementations of distance learning: doing worksheets from school (15 students), joining online class/online sources from the internet (7 students), completing the task from school (18 students), doing free activities without guidance (4 students), doing free activities with guidance (7 students). However, there were eight obstacles faced by parents in implementing distance learning: the parents could not focus to guide children in learning (4 respondents), the children could not focus to their learning (10 respondents), the children got boredom (4 respondents), the children did not want to learn (10 respondents), the children wanted to watch the television or play games (4 respondents), the children asked to go to school (3 respondents), the children could not do online learning (7 respondents), and the children had limited understanding related to the material (3 respondents).</text>

                <text>RESUMO: Objetivando avaliar a eficiência da urina humana como atraente alimentar no monitoramento e/ou controle de Anastrepha spp. em pomar de goiaba, foram realizadas três pesquisas em Barbalha, Ceará. Na primeira, de 16 de março a 16 de abril de 2012, foram utilizados suco de goiaba e urina pura de doadores com idades de 20, 25, 30, 35 e 40 anos. Na segunda, conduzida de 25 de abril a 10 de junho de 2013, foram utilizados suco de goiaba e urina de doador de 30 anos nas concentrações de 10, 30, 50, 70 e 100% e períodos de envelhecimento de 3,7, 14 e 21 dias. Já na terceira pesquisa, de 27 de junho a 04 de julho de 2013, foram testadas urina masculina, feminina e a mistura delas. Os atraentes foram instalados em armadilhas McPhail em blocos ao acaso, contendo 400 mL do atrativo. Semanalmente, as armadilhas foram examinadas e as moscas coletadas levadas ao laboratório de Entomologia da Universidade Federal do Cariri, Campus do Crato, para triagem e contagem. Foi verificado que os adultos de Anastrepha spp. têm preferência por urinas de doadores jovens. O tempo de exposição da urina humana no campo influencia na captura, tendo sido observado que aos sete dias de exposição houve aumento na captura de adultos de Anastrepha spp. A urina masculina é mais eficiente do que a feminina, tornando-a ineficiente quando ocorre a mistura. Portanto, ela pode substituir o suco de goiaba no manejo agroecológico de moscas-das-frutas em goiabeiras de pequeno produtor, pois, além de gratuito, é de fácil aquisição e aplicação.</text>

                <text>Este trabalho se constitui em um estudo sobre o planejamento estratégico na agricultura familiar, com o objetivo de investigar as forças potencializadoras e as diferentes problemáticas que interferem no processo de desenvolvimento da agricultura familiar nas comunidades rurais do município de José da Penha/RN. Para tanto, a metodologia consistiu, inicialmente, na revisão da literatura, na qual buscou-se como suporte teórico os autores Bellen (2006), Buarque (2004), Mello (2007), Pedroso (2009), Silva (2006), entre outros. Ao compreender a importância da participação dos sujeitos sociais, para a identificação das potencialidades e das problemáticas em comunidades rurais de José da Penha/RN, foi realizado o Diagnóstico Rápido Participativo (DRP), através de oficinas de trabalho com 22 sujeitos sociais, sendo esses representantes das instituições não-governamentais e do poder público local. Os dados foram organizados e sistematizados através do modelo das Fortalezas-Oportunidades-Fraquezas-Ameaças (FOFA), onde foram apresentados os aspectos socioeconômicos e ambientais que estão diretamente relacionados ao processo de planejamento dessas comunidades do município. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que o processo de planejamento participativo é essencial para as tomadas de decisões da cidade. Por fim, foi construído o modelo socioeconômico e ambiental F-O-F-A, levando em consideração os resultados das oficinas de trabalho. Desse modo, podemos perceber que existem muitos desafios para a agricultura familiar, e que a utilização dessas metodologias pode tornar-se um instrumento de planejamento para gestores de diferentes organizações, governamentais ou não, no município de José da Penha/RN, pensando em políticas de desenvolvimento rural pautadas na sustentabilidade local.</text>

                <text>Agroecology emerged as a set of scientific and traditional knowledge that aims to make the transition from the conventional agriculture model to sustainable production systems. This new way of thinking about agroecosystems is a way to guarantee healthy food with social inclusion, recovery of traditional values and valuation of family production and environmental conservation, however, it requires a phase of transition. Thus it was analyzed the main motivations and limitations of the producers of the Cachoeira settlement in the construction of the agroecological transition process in the city of Itapura, São Paulo. The study was a qualitative research divided into two stages, in the first one it was applied a semi-structured questionnaire for reality diagnose and in the second stage a meeting with the methodology of the storm type of ideas to survey the motivations and limitations for the agroecological transition in the settlement. The study allowed us to understand that, despite not meeting the prerequisites understood as necessary for the agroecological transition process, families have sought to build, based on their reality and with their resources, new strategies to build a process of change to achieve autonomy, improving the environment and quality of life.</text>

                <text>Para reducir el costo de producción en maíz y conservar el ambiente es necesario sustituir o complementar la fertilización química con biofertilizantes. Sin embargo, en maíz con biofertilizantes no se han encontrado efectos en crecimiento y rendimiento de grano. Por lo que, el objetivo del presente estudio fue determinar la producción de materia seca, tasa de asimilación neta, tasa de crecimiento del cultivo y rendimiento de grano de maíz mejorado y criollo en siembra temprana bajo riego, en función del nitrógeno y biofertilizante aplicado. El estudio se estableció en Iguala, Gro., el 23 de enero del 2011; bajo condiciones de riego se sembró el maíz criollo raza “Vandeño” y el híbrido H 562, los tratamientos consistieron en la inoculación a la semilla del biofertilizante y la aplicación de 0, 80 y 160 kg N ha-1. Para evaluar el crecimiento del cultivo, se contabilizó el número de hojas y el área foliar. Con estos datos se calcularon las tasas medias de crecimiento del cultivo ¯TCC y asimilación neta ¯TAN. A la madurez fisiológica se evaluó la materia seca total (MS) y rendimiento de grano (RG). En Vandeño el uso de biofertilizante y 160 kg N ha-1 incrementó la MS durante el desarrollo del cultivo, pero no fue significativo para el RG. En cuanto al índice y duración de área foliar, el más alto fue con 80 y 160 kg N ha-1, lo que ocasionó la mayor , pero no así en la . En relación a H-562, la más alta producción de materia seca total y rendimiento de grano fue con 160 kg N ha-1, asimismo se incrementó el índice y duración de área foliar, que generó la más alta tasa de crecimiento del cultivo y asimilación neta.</text>

En madurez �siológica se evaluó el contenido de materia seca (MS) y el rendimiento de grano (RG),se calculó la e�ciencia en el uso del agua y del nitrógeno, y se realizó un análisis económico. Con 160 kg ha−1 denitrógeno se tuvo el mayor IAF y DAFT. Para MS, EUA, EAN, T CC, mientras que las mayores T AN se tuvieron conbiofertilizante y nitrógeno a 80 y 160 kg ha−1. Para RG la mayor respuesta se encontró con biofertilizante y nitrógenoa 160 kg ha−1, lo que genero la mayor rentabilidad del cultivo.</text>
