These market channels are conceived by governments, civil society organizations and academia as important strategies in shaping an alternative agri-food system, based on more sustainable production models and also faire about food consumption. The analyzes in this article sought to understand the impact of the short food supply chain created by the Family Farming Commercialization Center (CECAFES), in the state of Rio Grande do Norte - Brazil, have the potential to put a more sustainable model of production and consumption in the Brazilian semiarid region, as suggested by the literature. From the results of the field research conducted with 15 farmers (a sample of more than 3 thousand farmers in the semiarid region), the formation path of this chain was studied, highlighting the role of producers, consumers and external actors linked to it. The results reveal the role of farmers and their organizations in guaranteeing the volume and diversity of products, especially agroecological products. Getting a closer connection to consumers has led to the search for new forms of certification on organic production, expanding yields and opening up other marketing channels. From the consumers' point of view, there is a very narrow perception of the role that they can play in sustaining these chains. The option for this type of market is guided, mostly, by concerns related to their own health, low prices or easy access, revealing little social commitment. Despite the importance of these circuits, the emergence of an alternative agri-food system, based on new forms of socioeconomic and environmental rationality, especially on the part of consumers, can be compared to shoots or seeds of a desired transition (Ploeg, 2008) that still has a long way to go. L.). Semanalmente se realizaron capturas de babosas, conteos de nivel de daño, altura y número de hojas en 10 plantas. Se recolectaron arvenses y coleópteros en las dos fincas. Los conteos totales de babosas en la FE fueron estadísticamente superiores. Se colectaron cuatro especies (D. reticulatum, Milax gagates, D. laeve y L. maximux) frente a dos encontradas en FC. Con excepción de la variedad “Morada Lisa”, no se encontraron diferencias significativas en el nivel de daño en las otras variedades entre las dos fincas, pero sí en la variable peso seco de FE.  En FE se presentaron 5 especies de carábidos y 25 de arvenses frente a ninguna y 6 en FC, respectivamente. Los datos anteriores se explican en función de las prácticas agronómicas de cada sistema de manejo. Para ello, partiendo del enfoque de la “neoliberalización de la naturaleza”, examino el ambientalismo de mercado como una respuesta a las crisis ecológicas engendradas por la tendencia de la producción capitalista, y en particular de su forma actual neoliberal, a degradar sus condiciones de producción y a la naturaleza más ampliamente. Posteriormente analizo la adaptación del ambientalismo de mercado “para países pobres” de maneras que empoderan al sector privado en la regulación ambiental; para ello tomo como ejemplo la regulación mexicana. Para esto se utilizó una ecuación de búsqueda, en español, en la base de datos Scielo, y en inglés, en la base de datos Scopus. Se incluyeron artículos publicados durante los últimos 5 años. El resultado final fueron 30 artículos que cumplían los criterios de inclusión para este estudio. El enfoque del artículo es novedoso porque aborda de forma integral, según la revisión bibliográfica, los diferentes modelos que buscan predecir el comportamiento ambiental, lo cual permite tener las bases teóricas para formular estrategias más completas enfocadas al cambio de comportamiento.
