Los resultados de este trabajo muestran que, aunque el cambio de uso de suelo es reciente y a pequeña escala, las comunidades de aves observadas en el huerto están dominadas por unas pocas especies, mientras que mostraron ser mayormente equitativas en las plantaciones naturalizadas de almendros (hábitat previo al establecimiento de los huertos). Cuando comparamos el comportamiento de las aves en ambos hábitats, encontramos una mayor proporción de aves en búsqueda activa de alimento en los huertos, mientras que el número de aves desarrollando otras actividades (descanso) fue mayor en las plantaciones naturalizadas. Aunque la presencia de nuevos hábitats puede elevar la riqueza regional de la avifauna en paisajes mediterráneos, nuestros resultados no muestran evidencia de un efecto positivo significativo en el aumento de la riqueza regional de aves debido al establecimiento de pequeños huertos. Proponemos que las futuras actividades agrícolas deban tener en cuenta la escala, intensidad y frecuencia de las perturbaciones generadas con la finalidad de lograr un efecto positivo sobre la biodiversidad.Palabras clave: Ecología aviar, Biodiversidad, Comunidades de aves, Transformación del uso del suelo. The objective of this study was to analyze the extent of soil organic carbon (SOC) loss from the conversion of native forests to pasturelands in Mexico. We analyzed 66 sets of published research data with simultaneous measurements of soil organic carbon stocks between native forests and pasturelands in Mexico. We used a generalized linear mixed effect model to evaluate the effect of land use change (forest versus pasture), soil depth, and original native forest types. The model showed that there was a significant reduction in SOC stocks due to the conversion of native forests to pasturelands. The median loss of SOC ranged from 31.6% to 52.0% depending upon the soil depth. The highest loss was observed in tropical mangrove forests followed by highland tropical forests and humid tropical forests. Higher loss was detected in upper soil horizon (0&#8315;30 cm) compared to deeper horizons. The emissions of CO2 from SOC loss ranged from 46.7 to 165.5 Mg CO2 eq. ha&#8722;1 depending upon the type of original native forests. In this paper, we also discuss the effect that agroforestry practices such as silvopastoral arrangements and other management practices like rotational grazing, soil erosion control, and soil nutrient management can have in enhancing SOC stocks in tropical grasslands. The results on the degree of carbon loss can have strong implications in adopting appropriate management decisions that recover or retain carbon stocks in biomass and soils of tropical livestock production systems. Methods and results: The macromolecules from two Sauvignon blanc wines (Curicó Valley and Casablanca Valley, Chile) were separated by a cascade of UF membranes into three nominal fractions (10-30, 30-100 and 100-300 kDa). These fractions were characterized by native and SDS electrophoresis and membrane performance was evaluated by protein rejection and transmission. Separation by UF allowed the concentration of thermally unstable proteins in the 10-30 kDa retentate fraction, increasing heat induced haze by 8.9 fold, while heat stable glycoproteins were concentrated into the 100-300 kDa retentate fraction, reducing heat induced haze by 5.3 fold compared to unfiltered wine. The retention of high macromolecular species by the UF membrane with a 100 kDa molecular weight cut-off contributed to increased protein aggregation in the filtered wines. Conclusion: The concentration and purification of anti-hazing compounds by membrane filtration seem to be a new technology to improve the protein stability of white wines. Significance and impact of the study: Specific wine proteins are responsible for wine instability, resulting in haze formation in white wines. On the other hand, glycoproteins prevent protein aggregation and precipitation, thereby improving wine stability. Fractionation of wine macromolecules by UF membranes may help us to improve our knowledge about the contribution of specific proteins and glycoproteins to the haze stability of white wines. El comportamiento de ambos grupos se analiza y describe de la siguiente manera: a) se discrimina según se trate de temas de investigación globales o locales, aplicando el criterio de ausencia o presencia de topónimos nacionales, respectivamente; b) se presenta el volumen de coautoría con diferentes países agrupados por continentes ; c) se determinan las 20 palabras claves más frecuentes para cada caso y, d) se pone en relación con el Índice-H de los países, utilizado en este caso como indicador de impacto científico del país colaborador. Los principales resultados muestran que solo con Europa se logra la proporción de colaboración a los niveles de la ciencia del país (40%). Con países de continentes como Oceanía, Asia y África, la colaboración es muy minoritaria (5% o menos). La distribución en temas globales y locales se mantiene en todos los continentes con leves incrementos en Europa, América del Norte y Caribe y Oceanía a favor de los temas locales. La correlación entre la colaboración internacional y el impacto científico que tienen los países con los que se colabora es relativamente positiva. Los temas sobre los que se investiga se anclan principalmente en la Patagonia, el litoral marítimo y se centran especialmente en los bovinos y el maíz. El estudio aporta información útil para pensar la conformación de equipos de investigación, la planificación de programas de movilidad internacional y alianzas estratégicas en relación con la colaboración futura, y lo hace en un área estratégica que genera fuertes expectativas para el desarrollo económico del país. Se realizó una investigación participativa, en donde el chisme fue parte de una de las estrategias pedagógicas efectuadas en tres instituciones diferentes, que conllevó a tenerlo como un producto social pero con importancia comunicativa, porque además de desarrollar competencias, revitaliza las cuatro habilidades: leer, escribir, escuchar y hablar. El enfoque crí­tico, permitió hacer transformaciones creativas en la práctica pedagógica de la docente y tuvo eco en el aprendizaje de sus estudiantes, porque se tomó su contexto y cotidianidad para llegar al conocimiento impartido en el aula. La participación en el aula permitió abordar un fenómeno social y cultural que tuvo una intervención particular para transformar la relación del estudiante con el conocimiento, de una forma más contextual: su entorno comunicativo, y ver a través del chisme, cómo puede llegar el estudiante a transformarlo en noticia; todo esto como una forma de mirar entre lí­neas, la interactuación del estudiante con su ambiente, para que luego produzca texto informativo y hasta crí­tico argumentativo, cuando abordó el artí­culo de opinión. Pero, este artí­culo tipo ensayo, lo que trata de hacer es resaltar al chisme despojado de atávicas actitudes mal pensantes, no de indicar el cómo se lo hizo, aunque se hacen unas indicaciones en Discusión y Resultados, por cuanto esto está en el trabajo de grado -en proceso- de la autora. Donde tradicionalmente se producía en secano, la adopción de tecnología creó un nuevo paisaje hídrico: la “tierra irrigada”. Para comprender la creación de dicha categoría conceptual y su anclaje dentro de un modelo productivo específico, en este trabajo me propongo analizar la difusión del riego mecanizado en el norte de la provincia de Buenos Aires a partir de las principales políticas públicas que intervienen en esta transformación territorial: el Plan de Mejora Competitiva del clúster de la semilla, el Plan Nacional de Riego y la gestión del agua subterránea para el riego productivo. Recuperando aportes de la ecología política y de los estudios de la ciencia y la tecnología, argumento que la explotación del agua subterránea para riego implica una privatización del recurso que permanece invisibilizada. La “tierra irrigada” contiene dos de los recursos fundamentales para la producción de alimentos que, asociados, se resignifican. El agua adquiere sentido productivo como una mercancía a la que es factible asignar un valor monetario y se privatiza de hecho en el momento de su consumo productivo; mientras la tierra, gracias al agua, se valoriza económicamente al permitir nuevas alternativas de explotación con mayores márgenes de rentabilidad. Así, el agua es el “lubricante” que refuerza el proceso de acumulación.
