Aproximadamente la mitad de los humedales del mundo son turberas y son particularmente vulnerables a las actividades humanas y el cambio climático. Este trabajo se desarrolló en cuatro fases de las cuales destacamos la primera y la tercera por corresponder a las etapas de toma y análisis de datos respectivamente. La fase inicial comprendió la revisión bibliográfica en la cual se tuvo en cuenta el reconocimiento del lugar, tipo de cultivo a estudiar y el sistema de riego adecuado para la elaboración del diagnóstico del cultivo así mismo del consumo de agua para el cultivo guayaba pera. Para los cálculos de la huella hídrica azul, verde y gris se aplicó la metodología del Manual de evaluación de la huella hídrica propuesto por Arjen Y. Hoekstra, donde fue necesario contar con la información de campo, datos como el área del cultivo, la cantidad de árboles sembrados, el método de riego y el rendimiento del cultivo. Para la tercera fase mediante los datos obtenidos por el modelamiento de los datos a través del software CropWat 8.0 se pudo determinar un valor de la huella hídrica total de cultivo con un valor de 0,55 m3/ton cuyo valor no alcanza a ser suministrado por la precipitación presentada en el lugar, debido a esto se realiza la captación de un cuerpo de agua cercano, actividad que afecta directamente a la población que vive aguas abajo del cultivo, ya que reduce en una forma considerable el caudal del caño en épocas de verano por lo que en la fase cinco se determinó que la mejor alternativa era la de implementar un pozo profundo para complementar la hidratación requerida de la planta. En el año 2006 se condujeron nueve ensayos de rendimiento, uno en Madriz, cinco en Estelí, uno en Matagalpa y dos en Jinotega. En las etapas preliminares de rendimiento, el ensayo incluyó 51 líneas F8, y en las pruebas avanzadas de rendimiento se incluyeron 34 líneas F9 y 14 líneas F8 y F9. Estos trabajos se realizaron de acuerdo a las condiciones agroecológicas de cada localidad bajo condiciones de secano. En las pruebas preliminares se utilizó una sola repetición, y en pruebas avanzadas, se utilizó un diseño de látice 6 x 6 y de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones. Los resultados obtenidos muestra que a nivel de experimentación las líneas 429 DFSZ 15094-39 (2 188 kg ha-1), MIB 438 (2 644 kg ha-1), 426 DFSZ 15094-39 (2 182 kg ha-1) e INTA Vaina Roja (2 013 kg ha-1) sobresalieron por su rendimiento de grano. Durante las evaluaciones, la variedad INTA Vaina Roja resultó tolerante a la enfermedad de mancha angular (Phaeoisariopsis griseola). Además, la variedad INTA Vaina Roja se validó en parcelas comerciales en campos de agricultores en 54 ambientes de los departamentos de Estelí, Madriz, Nueva Segovia, Matagalpa, Jinotega, Chontales y Carazo. En estas parcelas de validación, la variedad INTA Vaina Roja (915 kg ha-1) superó en un 17% en los 54 sitios de validación a las variedades comerciales (784 kg ha-1) utilizadas como testigos locales. Así mismo, dio los mejores rendimientos (1 343 kg ha-1) en 24 ambientes identificados como favorables con un 16% más que las variedades comerciales (1155 kg ha-1). En los 30 ambientes identificados como desfavorables la variedad INTA Vaina Roja (573 kg ha-1), tuvo los mayores rendimientos, superando a las variedades comerciales (487 kg ha-1) en un 18%. En ambas situaciones la variedad INTA Vaina Roja con coeficientes de variación de 27.18 y 33.85% presentó mejor estabilidad que las variedades comerciales. Durante el proceso de experimentación y de validación, se observó que la variedad INTA Vaina Roja presentó tolerancia a alta humedad en el suelo, lo que la hace ser un material ideal para adaptación al cambio climático. La variedad INTA Vaina Roja presentó una Tasa Marginal de Retorno de 991% superior a las variedades comerciales. Materiales y métodos: se siguió la metodología estándar; determinación de requerimientos energéticos y proteína; selección de alimentos más consumidos por la población y cantidades de consumo; conformación de la estructura de la canasta básica (alimentos, grupos, aporte energético y de macronutrientes, cantidad y medidas comunes consumidas); definición de la metodología para fijar precios. Resultados: se obtuvieron tres estructuras compuestas por 41 productos para la nacional, 44 para la urbana y 35 para la rural, de todos los grupos de alimentos. Las tres canastas tienen una metodología para fijar precios de acuerdo con la población a la que está dirigida. Conclusiones: las estructuras propuestas respetan los patrones de consumo observados en la población y cubren las cantidades recomendadas de energía y macronutrientes. Cruz Flores Description An account of the resource RESUMEN Una de las formas más eficientes de evaluar los cambios históricos en las propiedades de la cobertura vegetal a gran escala, es mediante índices de vegetación que derivan de las técnicas de percepción remota. Debido a la ausencia de información sobre las dinámicas de la vegetación en áreas protegidas cubanas, el presente estudio tiene como objetivo la evaluación de la variabilidad del índice de Campo Continuo de Vegetación en las formaciones vegetales naturales de 10 Parques Nacionales de Cuba, desde 2000 al 2010, así como de la variación futura de las condiciones bioclimáticas sobre estas formaciones. Se utilizó la capa producto anual de este índice, obtenida a partir del sensor MO DIS, que presenta una resolución de 250 m y que cuantifica el porcentaje de cobertura vegetal en un área determinada. Se generaron 1000 puntos aleatorios en cada área de estudio de los cuales se extrajo el valor del índice. El análisis multitemporal incluyó la comparación del porcentaje de cobertura de las formaciones vegetales durante 11 años consecutivos. Se estimaron los rangos ambientales de cada formación y se evaluaron los cambios de estos en dos proyecciones futuras: bc26bi50 y bc85bi50 para el escenario BCC-CSM1-1 correspondiente a 2050. En el período evaluado, la cobertura vegetal total varió ligeramente, en cinco Parques Nacionales aumentó y en cinco disminuyó. En cada Parque Nacional la cobertura de las formaciones vegetales se mantuvo constante con pequeñas fluctuaciones. No se detectaron cambios significativos entre los rangos ambientales actuales y las proyecciones futuras. Conocer los cambios históricos ocurridos en los ecosistemas terrestres de Cuba, así como, las posibles afectaciones que tendrán lugar por el efecto del cambio climático, son elementos fundamentales para diseñar acciones para la protección de los mismos. Palabras claves: formaciones vegetales, Índice de Campo Continuo de Vegetación, MODIS, rangos ambientales One of the most effective ways of evaluating the historical changes in the properties from the vegetation cover to great scale is by techniques of remote perception, by spectral vegetation indexes. Considering the absence of information on the dynamics of the vegetation in Cuban protected areas, the present study has as objective to evaluate the variability of Continuous Vegetation index in the natural vegetal formations in 10 National Parks of Cuba, from 2000 to 2010, as well as the impact of climatic change on these formations. The product of the satellite MODIS was used for a year of the index in 11 images with a resolution of 250 m and 1000 random points were generated in each study area. The multitemporal analysis included the comparison of the percentage of cover of the vegetation during 11 serial years. They were considered the environmental ranges of each formation and the changes of these were evaluated in two future projections: bc26bi50 and bc85bi50 for the scenario 2050. In the evaluated decade, the vegetation covering varied slightly, in five National Parks it increased and in five it reduced. In each National Parks the cover of vegetation was constant with small fluctuations. Significant changes were not detected between the current environmental ranges and the future projections. To know which the historical space changes are in the Cuban terrestrial ecosystems, as well as their possible affectation for the climatic change, it can be fundamental when undertaking actions for their protection. Cuando no existen datos hidrométricos, las crecientes de diseño se estiman con métodos hidrológicos que se basan en las Lluvias de Diseño. La escasez de estaciones pluviográficas origina que los registros más comunes empleados para estimar las lluvias de diseño, sean los de precipitación máxima diaria (PMD) anual. Debido a los impactos del cambio climático y/o a la alteración del entorno geográfico de las estaciones pluviométricas, los registros de PMD están mostrando tendencias y por lo tanto son no estacionarios. El análisis probabilístico de los registros de PMD no estacionarios, orientado a estimar predicciones de baja probabilidad de excedencia que puede realizar, de manera simple y sin dificultades computacionales, con base en la extensión del método de los momentos L para aplicar la distribución General de Valores Extremos (GVE) con su parámetro de ubicación (u) variable con el tiempo (t) en años, que se introduce como covariable. Cuando la tendencia en el registro de PMD es lineal se aplica el modelo probabilístico GVE1 en el cual ut = μ0 + μ1·t y cuando es curva el modelo GVE2 con ut = μ0 + μ1·t + μ2·t2. Entonces la distribución GVE1 tiene cuatro parámetros de ajuste (μ0, μ1, α, k) y la GVE2 cinco (μ0, μ1, μ2, α, k). Se describen cuatro aplicaciones numéricas y a través del análisis de sus resultados se demuestra la sencillez de la extensión del método de los momentos L y su versatilidad para estimar predicciones dentro del registro histórico y a futuro. As habitat change and large abundances of urban exploiter species have been related to changes in urban bird communities, we evaluated shifts in the bird communities in 2 small sized settlements, 1 with exploiter species and one without them. Our results show that bird species richness decreases when an area becomes urbanized, regardless of the presence of urban exploiters. While bird densities were low in the human settlement lacking urban exploiters, they were high in the other settlement due to the numbers of 2 urban exploiter species. Bird community evenness decreased from forests to the human settlement lacking urban exploiters, while decreased importantly in the settlement dominated by urban exploiters. The composition of bird communities was highly similar between forest conditions and the settlement lacking urban exploiters, and highly different to that from the settlement with urban exploiters. Our results thus suggest that when an area becomes urbanized, changes in habitat structure and their subsequent invasion by urban exploiter species generate a significant loss in bird species richness, favoring those species that can inhabit and exploit the new urban condition.La urbanización limita el número y tipo de especies que pueden colonizar a los ambientes urbanos. Debido a que los cambios de hábitat y las elevadas abundancias de especies explotadoras de ambientes urbanos han sido relacionadas con cambios en las comunidades de aves, en este trabajo evaluamos los cambios en las comunidades de aves en dos asentamientos humanos pequeños, uno con especies explotadoras y otro sin ellas. Nuestros resultados muestran que la riqueza de especies de aves disminuye cuando un área es urbanizada, sin importar la presencia de especies explotadoras. Las densidades de aves fueron bajas en asentamientos humanos sin especies explotadoras y fueron significativamente más altas en el otro asentamiento, básicamente debido a la presencia de dos especies explotadoras. La equitatividad de las comunidades decreció de los bosques a los asentamientos humanos. La composición de las comunidades de aves fue más similar entre las condiciones de bosque y el asentamiento sin especies explotadoras, y altamente diferente en relación con el asentamiento con especies explotadoras.
