AbstractScientists agree that global warming exists and has direct effects on humanity and the planet. Consequently, this phenomenon influences humans and their behavior towards conservation of the planet, looking for ways in which society can reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and their impact on the environment. At international levels, many efforts have been made to create agreements and mechanisms with the aim of avoiding, mitigating or remedying environmental problems. In 2010, Ecuador presented to the Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change an innovative proposal called Net Avoided Emissions, which stated the creation of a market mechanism, where the nations that produced the greatest pollution would compensate economically those countries with natural resources and biodiverse ecosystems if they did not exploit their deposits. Therefore, the Ecuadorian Government promoted the Yasuní Initiative on an individual basis, which was an opportunity to encourage international cohesion with actions towards facing global warming. However, although the initiative was supported by certain countries, it was not enough to compensate the opportunity cost of exploiting the block ITT of the National Park Yasuni. This bibliographic research, through a qualitative analysis, tried to determine circumstances that influence the rejection of the proposal and the loss of its validity. At the same time, it was intended to determine elements that give greater relevance to the proposal of ENE that can serve as input for the Ecuadorian technical team that will participate in the next Conference of the Parties. Keywords: net avoided emissions, climate change, global warming, zero emissions, fossil fuels, carbon.</text>

<text>In this work, a new adaptive controller is designed for substrate control of a fed-batch bioreactor in the presence of input saturation and unknown varying control gain with unknown upper and lower bounds. The output measurement noise and the unknown varying nature of reaction rate and biomass concentration and water volume are also handled. The design is based on dead zone quadratic forms. The designed controller ensures the convergence of the modified tracking error and the boundedness of the updated parameters. As the first distinctive feature, a new robust adaptive auxiliary system is proposed in order to tackle input saturation and control gain uncertainty. As the second distinctive feature, the modified tracking error converges to a compact region whose bound is user-defined, in contrast to related studies where the convergence region depends on upper bounds of either external disturbances, system states, model parameters or terms and model parameter values. Simulations confirm the properties of the closed loop behavior.</text>

Introduction: Studies on the state of health and nutrition of Mexicans with intellectual disability (ID) including those with Down syndrome (DS), are scarce. Objective: To analyze some physiological and social factors associated with the body mass of young people with ID from northern México. Methods: Body weight, height and other anthropometric values were measured in fifty seven young (17 ± 5 years) participants with ID (DS,16%) and at least one guardian. BMI (kg/m²), somatotype and nutritional status were established by three international standards and total blood glucose, cholesterol & triacylglycerides, were also analyzed. Guardian's socio-economic, household food insecurity and nutrition literacy status were estimated with validated questionnaires by direct interview. Results: Participants with SD were 12 cm smaller but subscapular skinfold (SECPS) was 6 mm thicker than that from other ID participants (p < 0.05). Prevalence of overweight/obesity was 70 and 44%, respectively. Blood biochemicals were similar between groups, but 25% had dyslipidemias. Participant's BMI correlated (p < 0,01) with several anthropometric & adiposity indicators (r = 0,40 a 0,88 ), blood triglycerides (r = 0,48 ) and cholesterol (r = 0,44) and guardians & participants' age (r = 0,35). The spending in food correlated (p < 0.05) with participant's SECPS (r = -0.33). The circumference of the waist, hip, calf and PSECP, 89% of the variance of the BMI explained. Conclusion: The body mass of young people with DI from northern Mexico, is strongly related to the degree of body adiposity, dyslipidemias, and some socio-economic factors of their family environment.</text>

The consequences of this phenomenon are presented mainly the rise in temperature and changes in the hydrological cycle (rain) among the most important. The generator of an electrical system influences the environmental conditions of their surroundings, due to the production of electricity based on nonrenewable resources used by thermoelectric generation which consumes fossil fuels, this technology results in the emission of pollutants and gas greenhouse; whose magnitude depends on their participation in the energy matrix of the system. To determine the volume of CO2 emissions generated per MWh of electricity produced, each electrical system must calculate the CO2 emission factor from electrical network, in this paper the methodology ACM0002 is used for calculating the factor established by the Framework Convention on Climate Change United Nations (UNFCCC) for its acronym in English. It requires adequate structuring information of electricity production and consumption for each fuel type thermoelectric units shipped in an electrical system. In the case of Ecuador methodology is applied to the electric network called the National Interconnected System (SNI). Analysis calculated for the period 2009-2014 the annual CO2 emission factor tCO2/MWh for each type thermoelectric generation dispatched in the SNI.</text>
