In Slovakia, this pay gap has been, in the long term, one of the highest in the European union. Slovak women earn about 22 % less than men in average, which results in them being more threatened by poverty as well as achieving lower pensions. Sectors of labor market, where women predominate, are considered to be less prestigious and are associated with lower wages, the education sector is undoubtedly one of them. Career progress of women is made even more difficult by gender stereotypes and career breaks due to maternity and they are also more burdened with household care and childcare.  Using the secondary analysis of data from the sample survey this paper analyzes the position of women in the labor market and the factors influencing the gender pay gap are examined by regression analysis. The decisive period of the analysis is considered to be the period March - May 2020, when a state locked down was declared in Slovakia in connection with the COVID 19 pandemic, which undoubtedly manifested itself in all sectors of the Slovak economy. The results show, that the gender pay gap is affected by the number of hours worked and education. However, it has also been shown, that the difference in education does not explain the gender pay gap since the gap is bigger between men and women with higher education than it is between men and women with secondary education. In light of this, we designed and bench tested a low-cost, pressure-controlled mechanical ventilator that is “plug and play” by design, where no end-user microcontroller programming is required. This Fast-AssembLy COVID-Nineteen (FALCON) emergency prototype ventilator can be rapidly assembled and could be readily modified and improved upon to potentially provide a ventilatory option when no other is present, especially in low- and middle-income countries.HypothesisWe anticipated that a minimal component prototype ventilator could be easily assembled that could reproduce pressure/flow waveforms and tidal volumes similar to a hospital grade ventilator (Engström CarestationTM).Materials and MethodsWe benched-tested our prototype ventilator using an artificial test lung under 36 test conditions with varying respiratory rates, peak inspiratory pressures (PIP), positive end expiratory pressures (PEEP), and artificial lung compliances. Pressure and flow waveforms were recorded, and tidal volumes calculated with prototype ventilator performance compared to a hospital-grade ventilator (Engström CarestationTM) under identical test conditions.ResultsPressure and flow waveforms produced by the prototype ventilator were highly similar to the CarestationTM. The ventilator generated consistent PIP/PEEP, with tidal volume ranges similar to the CarestationTM. The FALCON prototype was tested continuously for a 5-day period without failure or significant changes in delivered PIP/PEEP.ConclusionThe FALCON prototype ventilator is an inexpensive and easily-assembled “plug and play” emergency ventilator design. The FALCON ventilator is currently a non-certified prototype that, following further appropriate validation and testing, might eventually be used as a life-saving emergency device in extraordinary circumstances when more sophisticated forms of ventilation are unavailable. For researchers in this area, it is an interesting work to study virus spreading with safety theories and methods. In this paper, we worked on the spatial extent of SIR model, which considers the known facts of Covid-19 behavior i.e. its spreading extent with time, the total population of area concerned and dedicated health facilities. Also, a special relationship between Covid-19 cases and NLDI data driven by night-time satellite imagery is being discussed. Results predicted a huge gap between predicted and presently available facilities for number of hospitals, beds, and ventilators. Findings suggest that developing countries like our study area Lahore District, Pakistan needs to follow social distancing at immense level, which not only helps in reducing the numbers of infections and fatalities but also the time duration of the whole epidemic. Maps based on NLDI vales, predicted cases, hospitals and ventilators needs could be greatly helpful for policymakers to analyze situation and concentrate on areas which needs immediate attention. Dealing with the pandemic requires a pre-planned command and control structure that could make quick and informed decisions in the whole city. We recommend that the use of proper model prediction at Union Council level can help local government in policymaking related social distancing and healthcare systems. The decision of social distancing should be on time and like what percent of social distancing is needed, which tackle with the already available health care structure.
