                <text>Introduction: COVID-19 does not present a distinction of ages, races and sex, children and youth represent a sector of the population that does not escape this reality. Early identification of the disease favors a better prognosis. Objective: To describe general aspects of COVID-19 in pediatric patients. Methods: A bibliographic review was performed, using the databases (PubMed, Scielo, Ebsco and Clinical Key). The search descriptors used were: SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19, and COVID-19 in children. The search yielded 77 articles, of which 47 were discarded for not meeting the inclusion criteria. 30, 100 % of the year 2020, were taken to cite the work. The analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and historical-logical methods were used. Development: to characterize the disease, there are abundant scientific articles worldwide, pediatric patients are equally affected than the rest of the population. The relevance of identifying the disease early, justifies the dispersion existing in the literature. Conclusions: Despite the scientific advances made in multiple investigations, there are still elements of the disease that must be studied in depth. Although pediatric patients generally present a better evolution, probably influenced by the absence of existing comorbidities in the adult population, COVID-19 has similar behavior.</text>

                <text>Abstract Background Health care workers (HCWs) presented frequent concerns regarding their health and their families' health and high levels of psychological distress during previous disease outbreaks, such as the SARS outbreak, which was associated with social isolation and intentional absenteeism. We aimed to assess HCWs concerns and anxiety, perceived sufficiency of information, and intended behavior during the recent A/H1N1 influenza pandemic and their associations with psychological distress. Method Between September 1st and 30th, 2009, 469 health-care workers (HCWs) of a tertiary teaching hospital completed a 20-item questionnaire regarding concerns and worries about the new A/H1N1 influenza pandemic, along with Cassileth's Information Styles Questionnaire (part-I) and the GHQ-28. Results More than half of the present study's HCWs (56.7%) reported they were worried about the A/H1N1 influenza pandemic, their degree of anxiety being moderately high (median 6/9). The most frequent concern was infection of family and friends and the health consequences of the disease (54.9%). The perceived risk of being infected was considered moderately high (median 6/9). Few HCWs (6.6%) had restricted their social contacts and fewer (3.8%) felt isolated by their family members and friends because of their hospital work, while a low percentage (4.3%) indented to take a leave to avoid infection. However, worry and degree of worry were significantly associated with intended absenteeism (p &lt; 0.0005), restriction of social contacts (p &lt; 0.0005), and psychological distress (p = 0.036). Perceived sufficiency of information about several aspects of the A/H1N1 influenza was moderately high, and the overall information about the A/H1N1 influenza was considered clear (median 7.4/9). Also, perceived sufficiency of information for the prognosis of the infection was significantly independently associated with the degree of worry about the pandemic (p = 0.008). Conclusions A significant proportion of HCWs experienced moderately high anxiety about the pandemic, and their degree of worry was an independent correlate of psychological distress. Since perceived sufficiency of information about the A/H1N1 influenza prognosis was associated with reduced degree of worry, hospital managers and consultation-liaison psychiatry services should try to provide for HCWs' need for information, in order to offer favourable working conditions in times of extreme distress, such as the current and future pandemics.</text>

                <text>Since February 2020, when coronavirus disease began to spread in Italy, general practitioners (GPs) were called to manage a growing number of health situations. The challenges experienced by Italian GPs remained unrevealed. This study aimed at exploring Italian GPs' care experiences and practices associated with critical incidents during the first wave of the pandemic. A qualitative study design involving the critical incident technique through an online survey was applied. Sociodemographic data and open-ended responses were collected. While participants' characteristics were analyzed through descriptive statistics, qualitative data were thematically analyzed employing the framework method. 149 GPs responded to the survey and 99 participants completed the survey (dropout rate = 33%). Eight themes emerged indicating factors related to the organization of the healthcare system and factors related to the clinical management of patients, that were perceived as impacting on the GPs' care provision. The analysis revealed difficulties in communicating with other local services. This, together with the lack of coordination among services, was reported as a major challenge. Primary care was perceived as having been undervalued and criticalities in the organization of GP courses, led in a bureaucratic fashion, posed at risk some trainees to be infected. The digital technologies adopted for remote patient consultations were seen as useful tools for daily practice helping the GPs to stay emotionally connected with their patients. Besides, the improvement in the GP–patient relationship in terms of solidarity between patients and doctors and compliance to rules, had a positive impact. Moreover, many respondents addressed the importance of professional collaboration and teamwork, in terms of both support in practical issues (to find PPE, diagnostics and guidelines) and emotional support. At the same time, the lack of resources (e.g., PPE, swabs) and of specific guidelines and protocols impacted on the care provision. Our findings suggest that GPs in Italy are at risk of being left behind within the epidemic management. Communication and coordination among services are essential and should be substantially improved, and primary care research should be initiated to collect the context-specific evidence necessary to enhance the system's preparedness to public health emergencies and the quality of primary care services.</text>

                <text>Records with the search string biogeograph* were collected from the Science Citation Index (SCI). A total of 3456 records were downloaded for the 1945-2006 period from titles of articles and reviews, and 10,543 records were downloaded for 1991-2006, taking into consideration also abstracts and keywords. Temporal trends of publications, geographical and institutional distribution of the research output, authorship, and core journals were evaluated. There were as many as 122 countries carrying out biogeographic research; in the most recent period, USA is the top producing country, followed by the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, and Canada. There were 17,493 authors contributing to the field. During 1991-2006 there were 4098 organizations with authors involved in biogeographic research; institutions with higher number of papers are the Natural History Museum (United Kingdom), the University of California, Berkeley (USA), the Museum National d'Histoire Naturelle (France), the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico), the American Museum of Natural History (USA) and the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia). Research articles are spread over a variety of journals, with the Journal of Biogeography, Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, Molecular Ecology, and Biological Journal of the Linnean Society being the core journals. From 28,759 keywords retrieved those with the highest frequency were evolution, phylogeny, diversity, mitochondrial DNA, pattern(s), systematics, and population(s). We conclude that publications on biogeography have increased substantially during the last years, especially since 1998. The preferred journal for biogeographic papers is the Journal of Biogeography. Most frequent keywords seem to indicate that biogeography fits well within both evolutionary biology and ecology, with molecular biology and phylogenetics being important factors that drive their current development.Se recolectaron registros con la palabra biogeograph* a partir del Science Citation Index (SCI).                 <text>El dolor por cáncer puede ser provocado por un tumor maligno, por la terapéutica sobre el mismo, o ambas causas. Éste, tiene un debut agudo que transitará hacia la curación o la cronicidad. En el seno de un cuadro de dolor crónico pueden aparecer además, episodios agudos. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica acerca del dolor oncológico, empleando los recursos disponibles en la red Infomed, específicamente Ebsco, The Cochrane Librery, PubMed, Hinari y SciELO, a través de los cuales se accedieron además a las bases de datos: MEDLINE, Academic Search Premier y MedicLatina. La presencia del dolor dentro de un proceso oncológico es variable y depende del tipo y de la extensión de la enfermedad, así como de la propia tolerancia individual de cada persona. El dolor oncológico terminal intenso es una circunstancia tan previsible como necesariamente evitable. Su alivio resulta prioritario en el programa mundial del cáncer de la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Conocer la clasificación del dolor, las causas, las escalas de valoración, la manera en qué se puede describir, permite un tratamiento integral del dolor por cáncer, optimizar la atención integral del paciente con esta afección y mejorar su calidad de vida.</text>

                <text>Hasta fechas muy recientes, la mayoría de los estudios teóricos y empíricos sobre la evolución de la relación entre las plantas y sus polinizadores han asumido que estos sistemas están altamente especializados, es decir, cada especie vegetal es visitada por sólo unos cuantos polinizadores relacionados filogenéticamente como fruto de la selección impuesta por ellos. La omnipresencia de especialización se ha derivado de aceptar el principio del polinizador más eficiente, según el cual una planta debe especializarse en el polinizador más eficaz y/o más abundante cuando su disponibilidad es predecible. Muchos estudios han encontrado realmente que los polinizadores ejercen selección fenotípica sobre rasgos reproductivos de las plantas. Sin embargo, igual de evidente es el hecho de que muchas especies vegetales son polinizadas por conjuntos numerosos y taxonómicamente diversos de polinizadores. Estas observaciones sugieren que en realidad los sistemas de polinización son generalistas. La generalización es producida y mantenida por varios factores ecológicos entre los que destacan la variación espacial y la fluctuación temporal de la identidad de los polinizadores más importantes, la similitud en la eficiencia y preferencia por los rasgos florales por parte de polinizadores diferentes, la existencia de factores externos que reducen la capacidad de los polinizadores de afectar al fitness de la planta, y la existencia de selección indirectaA controversy exists about the importance of generalization versus specialization in pollination systems. Whereas the evolutionary and ecological theory speculates that the plant-pollinator systems should be highly specialized, many evolutionary ecologists now acknowledge that generalization is frequent in natural systems. There is still no consensus about which ecological factors can promote this counter-intuitive and paradoxical result. I propose that generalization in plant-pollination systems can arise by several non-exclusive factors. One kind of factors are related to the ability of pollinators of acting as true selective agents. Despite that many studies have shown that pollinators can provoke phenotypic selection on floral traits, only occasionally it has been shown that this selection actually produces any response to selection. Two main reasons can explain why pollinators cannot induce adaptations in many plants: (1a) a significant spatial and temporal variability in pollinator abundance and identity highly reduces the possibilities of congruent selection on floral traits; (1b) the occurrence of extrinsic factors acting during another stages of the plant reproductive and recruitment processes can also decrease the actual effect that pollinators has on fitness. A second group of factors are those related with the fact that, to specialization occurs, it is necessary that two different pollinators can constitute as completely separated selective agents, by differing in their per-visit efficiencies and/or floral trait preferences.
