<text>Bovine coronavirus (BCoV) is widespread in cattle and wild ruminant populations throughout the world. The virus causes neonatal calf diarrhea and winter dysentery in adult cattle, as well as upper and lower respiratory tract infection in young cattle. We isolated and deep sequenced whole genomes of BCoV from calves with respiratory distress in the south–west of France and conducted a comparative genome analysis using globally collected BCoV sequences to provide insights into the genomic characteristics, evolutionary origins, and global diversity of BCoV. Molecular clock analyses allowed us to estimate that the BCoV ancestor emerged in the 1940s, and that two geographically distinct lineages diverged from the 1960s–1970s. A recombination event in the spike gene (breakpoint at nt 1100) may be at the origin of the genetic divergence sixty years ago. Little evidence of genetic mixing between the spatially segregated lineages was found, suggesting that BCoV genetic diversity is a result of a global transmission pathway that occurred during the last century. However, we found variation in evolution rates between the European and non-European lineages indicating differences in virus ecology.</text>

<text>Avian adjustments to desert environments are characterized by an integration of behavior and physiology. These responses serve to maintain homeostasis and conserve vital resources such as water. The small size of birds confers a close coupling to the thermal environment and demands rapid adjustments to environmental challenges. Physiological responses to heat stress include hyperthermia, and increased evaporative cooling as environmental temperatures approach body temperature. Behaviorally, desert birds respond to heat stress by drastically reducing activity during the hottest parts of the day and selecting cool shaded microsites. This characteristic behavioral response presents a potential problem in the face of global warming. If birds totally forgo foraging during extremely hot periods, increased evaporative water loss rates due to higher environmental temperatures could lead to significant episodes of direct mortality for birds in these regions. A simple model is presented which integrates behavior and physiology to predict survival times based on dehydration tolerance, microsite selection and environmental temperature.

These disasters are occurring more frequently in the region and will likely increase in intensity also. The armed forces in the region are the only government departments with both the capacity and the manpower to respond to these massive catastrophes. Military support to civilian authorities will be required more frequently and under more severe conditions as climate change conditions worsen.</text>

The electric sector is very important to the strategic growing of any country. It isn’t different in Brazil, which shows a diversified energy matrix, but has a predominance of hydropower sector. However, the thermoelectric sector has grown in the last years to guarantee the electrical safety and, in isolated systems, the thermoelectricity is predominant. It is the case of Amazonas State, which receives energy priority from thermal power plants in the region. They use, mostly, fossil fuels such as Diesel, Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO). Nowadays, it has been incorporated into this system the natural gas use from Amazon oil basin, located in Urucu. In this sense, to analyze the environmental influence of this change on the thermal power plants, this study intends to employ the methodology of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the electricity delivered to the grid by one thermal power plant (TPP), located in Manaus, which uses HFO and Natural Gas as fuel. For observation of differences, it was performed a comparative study of this power plant in two situations: using only HFO and using HFO and Natural gas concomitant. The study was conducted from cradle to gate of the power plant from specific primary data, provided by the power plant and secondary data from the literature. The Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) was calculated from the CML IA baseline with the use of SimaPro software and it was chosen the impact category of Global Warming Potential (GWP) for analysis. The conversion bifuel resulted in reduction of the impact of the TPP, which previously was 590.50 kg CO2eq / MWh and passed to 521.11 CO2eq / MWh. However, the bifuel power plant has, along the lifecycle, when compared the operation with only HFO, the same magnitude of GWP due to contributions of, for example, natural gas production.</text>

<text>Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in a new climate of uncertainty which is fuelling protectionism and playing into nationalist narratives. Globalisation is under significant threat as governments scramble to reduce their vulnerability to the virus by limiting global trade and flows of people. With the imposition of border closures and strict migration measures, there have been major disruptions in Africa’s global supply chains with adverse impacts on employment and poverty. The African economies overly reliant on single export-orientated industries, such as oil and gas, are expected to be severely hit. This situation is further aggravated by tumbling oil prices and a lowered global demand for African non-oil products. The agricultural sector, which should buffer these shocks, is also being affected by the enforcement of lockdowns which threaten people’s livelihoods and food security. Lockdowns may not be the answer in Africa and the issue of public health pandemic response will need to be addressed by enacting context-specific policies which should be implemented in a humane way. In addressing the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 on African nations, we argue that governments should prioritize social protection programmes to provide people with resources to maintain economic productivity while limiting job losses. International funders are committing assistance to Africa for this purpose, but generally as loans (adding to debt burdens) rather than as grants. G20 agreement so suspend debt payments for a year will help, but is insufficient to fiscal need. Maintaining cross-border trade and cooperation to continue generating public revenues is desirable. New strategies for diversifying African economies and limiting their dependence on external funding by promoting trade with a more regionalised (continental) focus as promoted by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, while not without limitations, should be explored. While it is premature to judge the final economic and death toll of COVID-19, African leaders’ response to the pandemic, and the support they receive from wealthier nations, will determine its eventual outcomes.</text>

Abstract There is the possibility and necessity to address the structural crisis of the production model, distribution and global food consumption from the agricultural-ecology and the responsible consumption, in its practice- theory, and not only from production, insufficient to address a problem that is also circulation (consumption). And vice versa, to show the limits of the initiatives that address the problem of famine, and therefore poverty and development as a problem to solve only from circulation (commerce). Along with theorization from practice of concepts of agricultural-ecology and responsible consumption, transformation of social relations, participation activities, and linkage with other social movements come out. Agricultural-ecological resistance to globalization from below is promoted.</text>

The analysis of the propolis production's subsector state in Colombia and America Latina markets was done in this study. With the aim of introduce it into the international markets, considering the social consequences in a hypothetical stage of a success product worldwide demand and the globalization issues that some experts have analyzed. It is inappropriate to involve indigenes and peasant communities into the globalizing processes was concluded, it would be better if they work through a internal building process, strengthening their internal market that give them the opportunity to come out of the poverty circle and bring them solutions to malnutrition and food safety. Propolis is collected by bees (Apis mellifera) from different trees and bushes. The propolis contains many medical, nutritional as well pharmaceutical properties, so despite of their incipient production as well the lower volumes of production in Colombia as well as the rest of Latin America, it is major subject of interest, investigations and research. One of the reason of lower production and developement of it, is the a lack of stimulus that producer feel from the State-Government and same system of marketing that undervalued the qualities of the product and not so fairly remunerated.</text>

<text>Cruise tourism is an obviously global industry in different dimensions. From a geographical perspective, cruise ships are mobile and capable of being repositioned at a company’s notice, which forms the inherent basis for its global spatial layout. As a branch of the cruise industry, the world cruise is clearly globalizing in geographical space by offering long itinerary, even round-the-world trips, for everyone. Using the schedule data from 2018 to 2019, this paper analyzes the spatial characteristics of the itinerary and port organization of Cunard, a world cruise company. We find that the itinerary distribution and port organization of Cunard are both globalization and regionalization, and the latter is the core and main component of the former. Under the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic, the global mobility of cruises has ground to a halt, while local mobility offers the possibility of its resumption as soon as possible. Turning to the regional voyage with the shorter and simple itinerary is feasible for Cunard and other world cruises, which is conducive to the realization of the resuming voyage as soon as possible. Moreover, strict boarding and safety onboard are essential.</text>
