The aims of this study were to determine the landraces potential per se and in crosses; to identify genetic materials for intrapopulation selection and composites synthesis in two places. In 2000/01, thirty one populations per se, thirty one top-crosses intragroup and two hibrids were evaluated using an 8x8 lattice, with five and four replications in Palmeira and Londrina, Paraná, Brazil, respectively. The results of the populations per se showed different performances for each local, but BR 106, Cabo Roxo, Palha Roxa, Ouro Verde e Comum Antigo x Sabugo Fino showed higher grain yield means in both places, that did not differ significantly to the means of the commercial checks (AG1051 and C125). The average heterosis effects were significant for grain yield, plant height, ear placement and root lodging percentage, without local interactions. The top-crosses produced 10.2% (Palmeira) and 8.5% (Londrina) more than the same populations per se. The objectives of this study were to estimate phenotypic, additive genetic and environment correlations among traits in maize landraces, which were cultivated in family farm systems, in order to guide the participatory breeding on maize landraces. Between 294 and 400 half-sib progenies from the six populations were evaluated, subdivided in triple 7X7 and 10X10 lattice design, respectively, with single row plots of 4 m long and spaced 1.00 × 0.20 m. Estimates of correlation coefficients are reported for nine traits: grain yield (GY), relation grain weight per ear weight (GE), ears per plant (EP), days to flower (DF), plant height (PH), ear height (EH), percentage of root loding (%L), percentage of stalk loding (%BS) and percentage of damaged ears (%DE). A high number of additive genetic correlation (rA) was obtained between grain yield and the other traits, in maize landraces populations, cycles and locations. For grain yield, the highest averages of the rA estimate were with EP (0.67), GE (0.47) and %DE (-0.63). This study aimed to investigate the extent to which these measures affected children's daily routines. More specifically, it aimed to determine how children maintained their learning, physical activity, and screen time routines from the period before the state of emergency was declared.Methods: Response to an online parent-reported questionnaire was conducted (N = 450). The factorial validity of the scales was prepared using confirmatory factor analysis, with acceptable fit indices. Based on that, the authors tested the interrelations between dimensions using structural equation modeling in SPSS, AMOS 24.0.Results: The study results indicate a positive relationship between school achievement and study time (β = 0.25). They also indicate that children who were physically active before the pandemic continued their activities during the emergency state (β = 0.53). Physical activity impact during the COVID-19 emergency measures reduces children's behavior changes (β = 0.55). Finally, they highlight that children who spent more time with multimedia content had greater changes in anxiety, sensitivity, nervousness, and worry due to COVID-19 emergency measures (β = −0.38).Conclusions: Healthy lifestyle habits formed in childhood are suggested to be responsible for the greater “resistance to change” shown by the children from this study. A molecular docking analysis was carried out using 171 essential oil components with SARS−CoV−2 main protease (SARS−CoV−2 Mpro), SARS−CoV−2 endoribonucleoase (SARS−CoV−2 Nsp15/NendoU), SARS−CoV−2 ADP−ribose−1″−phosphatase (SARS−CoV−2 ADRP), SARS−CoV−2 RNA−dependent RNA polymerase (SARS−CoV−2 RdRp), the binding domain of the SARS−CoV−2 spike protein (SARS−CoV−2 rS), and human angiotensin−converting enzyme (hACE2). The compound with the best normalized docking score to SARS−CoV−2 Mpro was the sesquiterpene hydrocarbon (E)−β−farnesene. The best docking ligands for SARS−CoV Nsp15/NendoU were (E,E)−α−farnesene, (E)−β−farnesene, and (E,E)−farnesol. (E,E)−Farnesol showed the most exothermic docking to SARS−CoV−2 ADRP. Unfortunately, the docking energies of (E,E)−α−farnesene, (E)−β−farnesene, and (E,E)−farnesol with SARS−CoV−2 targets were relatively weak compared to docking energies with other proteins and are, therefore, unlikely to interact with the virus targets. The highest number of MERS-CoV cases are from Saudi-Arabia, the major worldwide hotspot for this disease. In the absence of neither effective treatment nor a ready-to-use vaccine and with yet an incomplete understanding of its epidemiological cycle, prevention and containment measures can be derived from mathematical models of disease epidemiology. We constructed 2-strain models to predict past outbreaks in the interval 2012-2016 and derive key epidemiological information for Macca, Madina and Riyadh. We approached variability in infection through three different disease incidence functions capturing social behavior in response to an epidemic (e.g. Bilinear, BL; Non-monotone, NM; and Saturated, SAT models). The best model combination successfully anticipated the total number of MERS-CoV clinical cases for the 2015-2016 season and accurately predicted both the number of cases at the peak of seasonal incidence and the overall shape of the epidemic cycle. The evolution in the basic reproduction number (R0) warns that MERS-CoV may easily take an epidemic form. The best model correctly captures this feature, indicating a high epidemic risk (1≤R0≤2,5) in Riyadh and Macca and confirming the alleged co-circulation of more than one strain. Accurate predictions of the future MERS-CoV peak week, as well as the number of cases at the peak are now possible. These results indicate public health agencies should be aware that measures for strict containment are urgently needed before new epidemics take off in the region.
