                <text>The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the certification and auditing services of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS). The traditional approach to auditing—on-site visits—has been significantly curtailed, and it is unclear when, and under what conditions, it might resume in full. The purpose of this paper is to study the initial responses to COVID-19 of leading VSS—a group of 21 standards that are members of ISEAL, a global membership organization for VSS. This is a qualitative study, and data are collected from publicly-available sources (i.e., official announcements, policy amendments, derogations) in order to inductively analyze how individual VSS have adjusted their certification services in response to travel bans and lockdowns. The emphasis of the analysis was understanding the role of technologies in the VSS responses to the COVID-19 crisis. The findings demonstrate significant uptake of remote auditing and information and communications technology (ICT), even though that uptake is constrained by limiting conditions and it is not currently expected by VSS to extend beyond the crisis. Lessons learned from the crisis are discussed, and the potential for remote auditing during this period to encourage the adoption of more advanced technologies (such as artificial intelligence and satellite monitoring) in certification services is explored. A set of research questions to guide future work grounded in the analysis is also provided.</text>

                <text>The conformational states of a semiflexible polymer enclosed in a volume V:=ℓ3 are studied as stochastic realizations of paths using the stochastic curvature approach developed in [Rev. E 100, 012503 (2019)], in the regime whenever 3ℓ/ℓp&amp;gt;1, where ℓp is the persistence length. The cases of a semiflexible polymer enclosed in a cube and sphere are considered. In these cases, we explore the Spakowitz–Wang–type polymer shape transition, where the critical persistence length distinguishes between an oscillating and a monotonic phase at the level of the mean-square end-to-end distance. This shape transition provides evidence of a universal signature of the behavior of a semiflexible polymer confined in a compact domain.</text>

                <text>Durante tres años se condujo un experimento en áreas del Instituto de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales (INIVIT) de Camagüey, empleando diferentes abonos organo-mineral, con el objetivo de conocer su influencia en el rendimiento del maíz (Zea maiz, L), sobre un suelo Pardo Sialítico Mullido Carbonatado de pH ligeramente ácido, bajo contenido de P2O5 y medio de K2O y materia orgánica. Para las mezclas organo-mineral se emplearon como abonos orgánicos el estiércol vacuno y la cachaza y como fertilizantes minerales, el superfosfato triple y el cloruro de potasio. El organo-mineral se aplicó en el momento de la siembra a una dosis de 745 kg ha1  de acuerdo a cada tratamiento, los que fueron replicados 4 veces en un diseño de bloques al azar. Se midió el rendimiento y sus componentes y se tomaron muestras de suelo para conocer la variación de sus propiedades. Los datos fueron evaluados por un análisis de varianza de clasificación doble y se aplicó la prueba de rango múltiple de Duncan para un nivel de significación del 5 %. Los resultados muestran que el empleo de los abonos organo-minerales favorece el rendimiento, reducen los fertilizantes químicos a emplear y mejoran las propiedades del suelo.</text>

Además se tomaron muestras de suelo con el objetivo de medir el efecto que produce la utilización de este abono sobre las principales propiedades del mismo. Se obtuvo que la fertilización organomineral favorece la producción de maíz, manteniendo el rendimiento y la calidad del fruto con respecto a la fertilización mineral tradicional; de igual forma no deteriora las condiciones del suelo para el mejor desarrollo del cultivo.</text>

                <text>RESUMENSe condujeron dos experimentos, durante tres años, en un área del Instituto de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales (INIVIT) de Camagüey, empleando abonos organo-minerales, con el objetivo de conocer su influencia sobre el rendimiento y calidad del tomate var. Mara, sobre un suelo Pardo Sialítico Mullido Carbonatado, con pH ligeramente ácido, contenido bajo de P2O5 y medio de K2O y materia orgánica, empleando estiércol vacuno en un experimento y humus de lombriz en el otro para las mezclas organo-minerales; se utilizaron como portadores el superfosfato triple (46 % de P2O5) y el cloruro de potasio (60 % de K2O). La mezcla organo-mineral, en dosis de 745 kg/ha y de acuerdo a la composición de cada tratamiento, se aplicó a los tres días del trasplante. Los tratamientos fueron replicados cuatro veces en un diseño de bloques al azar. Se midió el rendimiento y peso del fruto, indicadores de calidad como la vitamina C, la acidez y los sólidos solubles totales en el mismo; además, se tomaron muestras de suelo para conocer la variación de algunas de sus propiedades. Los datos fueron evaluados por medio de análisis de varianza de clasificación doble, aplicando la prueba de rangos múltiples de Duncan  para un nivel de significación del 5 %. Se obtuvo como resultado que las aplicaciones del organomineral en composición de 75 % de abono orgánico y 25 % de fertilizante mineral brindaron los mayores incrementos en el rendimiento, mejorando la calidad del fruto y algunas propiedades del suelo.EFFECT OF FERTILIZER APPLICATION OF MIXED ORGANOMINERAL  GROWING CORN (Zea mays) ON BROWN SIALYTIC FLUFFY NONCARBONATED SOILABSTRACT. study was conducted to test the effect of various mixtures of organo-fertilizers on maize in a fluffy Sialytic Brown noncarbonated soil. Five different mixtures were used as organic fertilizers using the composted cow manure, press mud as carrier minerals and urea, triple superphosphate and potassium chloride. In addition soil samples were taken in order to measure the effect of the use of this fertilizer on major properties. It was found that the organo-fertilization favors the production of corn, maintaining performance and fruit quality compared to traditional mineral fertilization, and likewise does not deteriorate the soil conditions for better crop development.</text>

El reto más importante, es saber cómo obtener el mayor beneficio sin poner en peligro su existencia. Un manejo planificado, sostenible y con consciencia de que la tierra no es un recurso infinito, puede aumentar la productividad agrícola y apoyar la seguridad y soberanía alimentaria a largo plazo. En correspondencia con lo anteriormente planteado, se realizó un estudio con el objetivo de brindar alternativas de fertilización que contribuyan al manejo sostenible de tierra. Se aplicaron diferentes mezclas organominerales al cultivo del maíz en la UBPC Victoria II, en un suelo Pardo Sialítico Mullido no Carbonatado, en un diseño de bloques al azar con siete tratamientos y tres réplicas, para determinar su efecto en el rendimiento del cultivo y en las propiedades del suelo. Se obtuvo como resultado que las mismas pueden ser una alternativa de fertilización congruente con el manejo sostenible de tierras en condiciones edafoclimáticas similares, ya que se incrementó la producción del cultivo de maíz en un 18% además de favorecer las condiciones del suelo.</text>

                <text>En la provincia de Camaguey, el 40% de las casa de cultivo se encuentran ubicadas en los suelos ferríticos, estos se caracterizan por tener una fertilidad natural baja. En estos sistemas productivos no se ha estudiado la nutrición para obtener buenos rendimientos conservando la fertilidad del suelo. En este sentido, se realizó una investigación cuyo objetivo fue evaluar la aplicación de fertilizante fosfórico de fondo en combinación con abonos orgánicos, sobre el estado de fertilidad del suelo ferrítico, para lograr una producción sostenible de las hortalizas. Se seleccionaron tratamientos de un experimento con diferentes dosis de P2O5, abono orgánico de fondo y humus de lombriz. Se utilizaron como índices evaluativos la actividad respiratoria y celulolítica, la nitrificación del suelo, pH (KCl), MO, P2O5, K2O y se tuvo en cuenta los rendimientos del cultivo. Los resultados mostraron que la aplicación de abonos orgánicos, humus de lombriz y fertilizante fosfórico en las dosis estudiadas, provocó cambios en el estado microbiológico del suelo, resultando perjudicial la combinación de los materiales orgánicos con la dosis máxima de fertilizante fosfórico (900 Kg ha-1). La adición de materiales orgánicos logra suplir las necesidades de carbono en estos suelos. Se obtuvo un mejor equilibrio entre los indicadores microbiológicos y los rendimientos del cultivo, cuando se combina los materiales orgánicos con la dosis mínima y media de fósforo (300 y 600 Kg ha-1) o cuando se aplican estos sin la fertilización mineral.</text>

                <text>RESUMENLa Ciencia del Suelo, constituye la base de problemáticas como cambio climático y desertificación. Los cuantiosos datos que proporcionan los estudios de suelos, componen información valiosa para satisfacer las demandas de la sociedad y las decisiones políticas. El desafío actual es lograr disponer de esa información de manera precisa, cuantitativa, accesible, comprensible y adecuarla a las necesidades de los nuevos requerimientos. En este sentido, se elaboró un proyecto para la informatización, evaluación, recomendación y control del suelo para su mejor utilización. Durante su ejecución se elaboró un diseño del sistema, a partir de los procesos fundamentales que dirigen los servicios científico técnico del Instituto de Suelo. Se obtuvo un Sistema Integrador de Datos de Suelo (SIDS), para el manejo eficiente de la información en la gestión de la agricultura ante los posibles cambios globales, en la producción de alimentos y conservación de la calidad del suelo. Este sistema lo conforman un paquete de software que integran y procesan la información (SARLAB, REGIFERT, SEMCAS y SIG MDS), para agilizar la respuesta del estado del suelo en el manejo de la agricultura, organizar el sistema de control, el flujo de la información del suelo y el incremento de la eficiencia económica. Soil computerized system agriculture management to climate change.ABSTRACTSoil Science is the basis of issues such as climate change and desertification. Voluminous data provided by soil studies, up valuable information to meet the demands of society and political decisions. The challenge is to have that information accurately, quantitative, accessible, understandable and adapt to the needs of the new requirements manner. In this regard, a project for the computerization, evaluation, recommendation and monitoring of soil for better utilization was developed. During execution system design was developed, based on the fundamental processes that drive the technical and scientific services of the Institute of Soil. Integrated System Soils Data (ISSD), for efficient management of information in the management of agriculture to the possible global changes in food production and conservation of soil quality was obtained. This system is made up of a software package that integrates and process information (SARLAB, REGIFERT, SEMCAS and GISMDS) to speed up the response of soil condition in the management of agriculture, organize the control system, the flow of soil information and increasing economic efficiency.</text>

                <text>Se condujo un trabajo en condiciones de casa de cristal, con el objetivo de probar, en condiciones controladas, la efectividad de diferentes dosis de guano de murciélago sobre el comportamiento agronómico del pepino utilizado como planta indicadora, mediante un diseño completamente aleatorizado, de 5 tratamientos y 4 repeticiones sobre un sustrato constituido por suelo Pardo sin Carbonato de baja fertilidad natural y diferentes proporciones del abono orgánico. A los 35 días se les midió la altura y se cosecharon las plantas, las que se enviaron al laboratorio para determinarles peso seco y porcentaje de N, P y K. Los resultados alcanzados se evaluaron mediante análisis de varianza de clasificación simple y donde hubo significación se aplicó la prueba de Rangos Múltiples de Duncan. Los mismos muestran el efecto positivo del guano sobre los indicadores estudiados cuando se aplica el 10 % del mismo con relación al testigo y con el resto de los tratamientos, lo que constituye una buena alternativa nutrimental para cultivos de ciclo corto sembrado sobre este tipo de sustrato.</text>
