<text>The organic agriculture has been increasing in recent years, mainly because it is a production system that is socially, economically and ecologically correct. Mineral nutrition in alternative production systems is a determining factor for the success of crops. This study aimed to evaluate desirable agronomic traits of strawberry under different levels of cattle manure and rock waste. The experiment was conducted in the Department of Vegetable Crops in the UNICENTRO Guarapuava / PR. The fruits were collected from October 2008 to January 2009. We used the following treatments: 0, 50 and 100 t ha-1 of cattle manure and 0, 2, 4 and 6 t ha-1 of rock waste. The variables were evaluated productivity, commercial production and average mass of fruits. The average mass of fruit was not influenced by levels and sources of fertilizer. The results have revealed that both productivity and the commercial production of fruits performed better in the association of higher levels of cattle manure with intermediate levels of rock waste.

<text>The adoption of agroecological practices such as consortium and agroforestry systems are effective in improving and maintaining soil quality, with the delimitation of factors that may be related to the preservation of soil fertility being essential. The indicators of sustainability of participative soils are characterized by their ease of application, which can be used by farmers themselves and contributing to improvements in family farming production systems. The objective was to quantify the levels of resilience and diversity in the different agroecosystems located in the Serraria, PB County. The studied agroecosystems had three contortium, three monocultures and three areas in transition to an agroforestry system. For the study, the Participative Rural Diagnosis was used as a tool combined with the method of attributing scores applied to social, economic and sustainable indicators. In not all systems, soluble chemical fertilizers and pesticides are used in their management, being the model of family production. From the analysis, it can be concluded that in small monoculture areas it is possible to guarantee a certain level of resilience of the agroecosystem when worked in a manner in keeping with the principles of management and conservation.</text>

<text>Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus ticks cause significant economic losses to the Colombian cattle sector: reduction in meat and milk production, blood losses and transmission of blood parasites. The degree of infestation depends on the breed, physiological state and nutrition of the animal and on microclimatic characteristics, which affect the tick life cycle. Diverse studies suggest that given the characteristics of intensive silvopastoral systems (ISS), tick loads within these systems are lower. In this study, the tick loads of grazing animals were monitored for five animal groups: three at an ISS and two at traditional farms located on the Valley of Ibague (Tolima). within the ISS, there were greater tick loads in high production cows (P = 0.026) and a positive relationship (P < 0.05) between milk production and tick load in August sampling. Greater tick counts were also observed in the in San Javier (traditional farm) group compared to all other animal groups. We conclude that the dynamics of ticks is a complex phenomenon affected by many factors, whose association determines the observed tick population at any given time.</text>

<text>Two experiments were carried out during 2016 at the Anápolis Experimental Station of EMATER in the State of Goiás, with the aim of studying the yield of seeds of 18 strains and two indeterminate cultivars of the green bean, one experiment under a conventional system and the other under an organic system. A randomized block experimental design was used, with twenty treatments and three replications, to evaluate the mean number of seeds per pod (NSP), 100-seed weight (100SW) and productivity (PROD). Under the conventional system, the 100SW ranged from 19.3 to 25.0 grams. The highest productivity was achieved with the UEG 0212, UEG 0212, UEG 0712 and UEG 3014 strains, which were superior to the other strains, including the controls. Under the organic system, there was a range of 6.66 to 8.33 for the NSP, while for the 100SW, the range was from 23 to 32 grams. The UEG 0212, UEG 1012, UEG 2014 and UEG 3014 strains, all with cylindrical pods and white seeds, can be used as alternatives for planting, being superior to the ‘Favorito’ cultivar and equal to the ‘Macarrão Bragança’ cultivar, whereas UEG 1112 and UEG 0714, with cylindrical pods and cream-colored seeds, can be used as dual-adapted cultivars, with green pods and dry grain that can be used as end-of-cycle pods if there are defects that are not accepted by the market.</text>
