<text>Based on high quality surgery and scientific data, scientists and surgeons are committed to protecting patients as well as healthcare staff and hereby provide this Guidance to address the special issues circumstances related to the exponential spread of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during this pandemic. As a basis, the authors used the British Intercollegiate General Surgery Guidance as well as recommendations from the USA, Asia, and Italy. The aim is to take responsibility and to provide guidance for surgery during the COVID-19 crisis in a simplified way addressing the practice of surgery, healthcare staff and patient safety and care. It is the responsibility of scientists and the surgical team to specify what is needed for the protection of patients and the affiliated healthcare team. During crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the responsibility and duty to provide the necessary resources such as filters, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consisting of gloves, fluid resistant (Type IIR) surgical face masks (FRSM), filtering face pieces, class 3 (FFP3 masks), face shields and gowns (plastic ponchos), is typically left up to the hospital administration and government. Various scientists and clinicians from disparate specialties provided a Pandemic Surgery Guidance for surgical procedures by distinct surgical disciplines such as numerous cancer surgery disciplines, cardiothoracic surgery, ENT, eye, dermatology, emergency, endocrine surgery, general surgery, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, pediatric surgery, reconstructive and plastic surgery, surgical critical care, transplantation surgery, trauma surgery and urology, performing different surgeries, as well as laparoscopy, thoracoscopy and endoscopy. Any suggestions and corrections from colleagues will be very welcome as we are all involved and locked in a rapidly evolving process on increasing COVID-19 knowledge.</text>

The Brazilian National School Feeding Program (PNAE) is associated to family farming by law. that determines at least 30.0% of the funds transferred to municipalities by the federal government must be used for the acquisition of food products directly from this segment. This study aimed to evaluate the inclusion of fruit and vegetables from the family farm to produce food for school feeding in municipalities in the Administrative Region of Registro, SP. Interviews were conducted with nutritionists of the PNAE and the content was analyzed according to the technique of Collective Subject Discourse. Eleven out of fourteen municipalities in the region composed the study sample. Fruits and vegetables in natura were the most purchased food from Family Farming in 2012. The supply of food, lack of documentation and preparation of farmers for production and distribution logistics of these foods were barriers found in the study. The bond of family farming with PNAE presents difficulties for the municipalities, but there are benefits to all stakeholders involved in the management of the PNAE, with a greater supply of fruits and vegetables from the region.</text>

<text>Objectives: Analyse availability and quality of existing evidence on COVID-19's risk factors and underlying health conditions that are associated with poorer outcomes, worldwide and in Brazil. Methods: EBMR (Ovid), Google Scholar, MEDLINE (OvidSP), PubMed, CINAHL (EBSCO) and Cochrane Library databases were screened, plus Brazilian government epidemiological reports. A body of 25 articles plus 1 report met the inclusion criteria. Results: Available data are still disconnected and several biases exist throughout literature, mainly due to COVID-19 novelty aspect. Hypertension was the most analysed risk factor, followed by diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Availability of Brazilian data is significantly scarce and only governmental reports are readily available. Conclusion: Further studies, with good methodological designs, are needed to provide good levels of evidence in order to provide solid background to help the pandemic’s mitigation strategies.</text>

= Meliponiculture, the rational breeding of native stingless bees, is an activity that follows the principles of agricultural practices which are economically viable, environmentally sustainable and socially just, such as agroforestry systems (SAFs). The introduction of this activity into agroforestry systems plays a key role in diversifying these agro-ecosystems, expanding income opportunities and working towards foodsovereignty for families. Furthermore, the bees can contribute through their pollination potential, increasing the productivity of many crops. However, the activity is still not widely used as a component of this type of agro-ecosystem. Based on this information, the aim of this article is to contribute to the discussion concerning the integration of meliponiculture into agroforestry systems, with a view to stimulating the interest of family farmers, researchers and other interested parties, as these practices are compatible with conserving nature, ensuring the rational use of natural resources and of sustainable development. Considering all the benefits, and that meliponiculture can be considered a strategy for conserving these pollinators, it becomes necessary to widen the training of technicians and researchers, so that action can be designed and planned which would provide qualified technical assistance to family farmers, and disseminate and encourage the practice of meliponiculture under agroforestry systems.</text>

<text>We present the spatial distribution and abundance of the holoplanktonic family Iospilidae (Annelida, Polychaeta), along part of the eastern Brazilian coast, and its relation to environmental variables in the region. Samples were obtained from two collections made in 1998 and 2000 between 13°-25°S, and 28°-42°W, on the Brazilian coast, between the Bay of Todos os Santos (BA) to Cape São Tomé (RJ). 216 stations were selected, covering the continental shelf, slope and oceanic regions, where plankton samples were collected for water and nutrient analysis. We analyzed environmental variables: temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, silicate and chlorophyll-a. 363 individuals were collected, identifying two species, viz., Phalacrophorus uniformis and Phalacrophorus pictus, the first being the most abundant, with 354 individuals, while only nine specimens of P. pictus were found. Both species are mainly distributed in the oceanic region stations. The distribution of P. uniformis was related to the concentration of phosphate and nitrate. Significant differences between samples and between sectors of the continental shelf and oceanic region were found.</text>
