Entre 2013 y 2015, un total de 1,579 hisopados orotraqueales fueron colectados de gallinas, pavos, patos y gansos pertenecientes a 328 SPT de la zona central de Chile. En cada SPT, los hisopos colectados de aves de la misma especie fueron agrupados en el mismo tubo con medio de transporte formando un pool compuesto por no más de 5 muestras. Los pooles fueron analizados por RT-PCR a tiempo real. Resultados. De un total de 364 pooles, 6 resultaron positivos al virus de la ENC. Los pooles positivos correspondieron a gallinas de las regiones de Valparaíso (n = 1) y Libertador General Bernardo O’Higgins (n=5). Ningún pool correspondiente a pavos, patos o gansos fue diagnosticado positivo. Conclusiones. Los resultados positivos demuestran la presencia del virus de la ENC en SPT en Chile. Esto podría deberse a la circulación de cepas lentogénicas del virus transmitidas por aves silvestres o bien al contacto con cepas vacunales administradas en los planteles industriales cuyas aves vacunadas pueden finalizar como SPT. El estudio visualiza las concentraciones del NO2 a través de las imágenes de satélite LANDSAT 8 correspondiente al año agosto 2020, en la extensión del área superficial de América del Sur, estas imágenes son adquiridos de la USG Survey de los EE, UU, Institución que pertenece a la NASA y que posee una constelación de satélites como Terra, Noaa, Aster y LandSat dedicados a diferentes estudios del espacio aéreo del Planeta. A partir de las imágenes multiespectrales de satélite se muestran en las diferentes zonas del espacio aéreo de la zona en estudio, pudiendo observar la variación de la presencia de este elemento contaminante, el análisis se realizó con el Global Mapper, software de libre acceso. Los resultados obtenidos del análisis de las imágenes del satélite indican el comportamiento y nivel de saturación del espacio aéreo de la zona por el NO2, indicando que, a altitudes mayores de los mil metros; este elemento contaminante permanece en concentraciones relevantes que se debe tener en cuenta para proveer los efectos al cambio climático. La detección remota del NO2 a altitudes mayores a los mil metros muestra la nube de distribución de este gas e indica que en un mediano plazo, afectaran a la temperatura y con ello hacer variar el clima. Por este motivo, es necesario realizar más estudios en estas zonas para observar los parámetros relacionados con el clima en la zona superficial de la tierra. Here, we identify epidemiological traits of self-limited infections (i.e. infections with an effective reproduction number satisfying [0 < R eff < 1) that correlate with transmissibility. Our analysis is based on a branching process model that permits statistical comparison of both the strength and heterogeneity of transmission for two distinct types of cases. Our approach provides insight into a variety of scenarios, including the transmission of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in the Arabian peninsula, measles in North America, pre-eradication smallpox in Europe, and human monkeypox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. When applied to chain size data for MERS-CoV transmission before 2014, our method indicates that despite an apparent trend towards improved control, there is not enough statistical evidence to indicate that R eff has declined with time. Meanwhile, chain size data for measles in the United States and Canada reveal statistically significant geographic variation in R eff, suggesting that the timing and coverage of national vaccination programs, as well as contact tracing procedures, may shape the size distribution of observed infection clusters. Infection source data for smallpox suggests that primary cases transmitted more than secondary cases, and provides a quantitative assessment of the effectiveness of control interventions. Human monkeypox, on the other hand, does not show evidence of differential transmission between animals in contact with humans, primary cases, or secondary cases, which assuages the concern that social mixing can amplify transmission by secondary cases. Lastly, we evaluate surveillance requirements for detecting a change in the human-to-human transmission of monkeypox since the cessation of cross-protective smallpox vaccination. Should this virus, or another zoonotic influenza virus, gain the ability of sustained human-to-human transmission, an influenza pandemic could result. We used statistical methods to test whether observed clusters of HPAI (H5N1) illnesses in families in northern Sumatra, Indonesia, and eastern Turkey were due to human-to-human transmission. Given that human-to-human transmission occurs, we estimate the infection secondary attack rates (SARs) and the local basic reproductive number, R0. We find statistical evidence of human-to-human transmission (p = 0.009) in Sumatra but not in Turkey (p = 0.114). For Sumatra, the estimated household SAR was 29% (95% confidence interval [CI] 15%–51%). The estimated lower limit on the local R0 was 1.14 (95% CI 0.61–2.14). Effective HPAI (H5N1) surveillance, containment response, and field evaluation are essential to monitor and contain potential pandemic strains. Multiple surveillance and phylogenetic studies suggest a bat origin. In this study, we describe the detection and full genome characterization of two CoVs closely related to MERS-CoV from two Italian bats, Pipistrellus kuhlii and Hypsugo savii. Methods Pool of viscera were tested by a pan-coronavirus RT-PCR. Virus isolation was attempted by inoculation in different cell lines. Full genome sequencing was performed using the Ion Torrent platform and phylogenetic trees were performed using IQtree software. Similarity plots of CoV clade c genomes were generated by using SSE v1.2. The three dimensional macromolecular structure (3DMMS) of the receptor binding domain (RBD) in the S protein was predicted by sequence-homology method using the protein data bank (PDB). Results Both samples resulted positive to the pan-coronavirus RT-PCR (IT-batCoVs) and their genome organization showed identical pattern of MERS CoV. Phylogenetic analysis showed a monophyletic group placed in the Beta2c clade formed by MERS-CoV sequences originating from humans and camels and bat-related sequences from Africa, Italy and China. The comparison of the secondary and 3DMMS of the RBD of IT-batCoVs with MERS, HKU4 and HKU5 bat sequences showed two aa deletions located in a region corresponding to the external subdomain of MERS-RBD in IT-batCoV and HKU5 RBDs. Conclusions This study reported two beta CoVs closely related to MERS that were obtained from two bats belonging to two commonly recorded species in Italy (P. kuhlii and H. savii). The analysis of the RBD showed similar structure in IT-batCoVs and HKU5 respect to HKU4 sequences. Since the RBD domain of HKU4 but not HKU5 can bind to the human DPP4 receptor for MERS-CoV, it is possible to suggest also for IT-batCoVs the absence of DPP4-binding potential. More surveillance studies are needed to better investigate the potential intermediate hosts that may play a role in the interspecies transmission of known and currently unknown coronaviruses with particular attention to the S protein and the receptor specificity and binding affinity. As reações de RT-PCR com oligonucleotídeos específicos para uma região interna da proteína de movimento de dois vírus comuns em tomate, TMV e ToMV, resultaram na amplificação de um fragmento de 409 pares de bases, apenas com os oligonucleotídeos específicos para o TMV. Após o sequenciamento, os aminoácidos deduzidos apresentaram identidade de 100% quando comparados com as seqüências das proteínas de movimento de outros isolados do TMV, e 94% de identidade com seqüências do ToMV. A RT-PCR demonstrou ser um método eficiente para a rápida e conclusiva determinação da espécie viral envolvida na infecção do tomateiro. A seqüência parcial do genoma do isolado de TMV de Sapopema, está depositada no GenBank sob o número de acesso DQ173945, sendo esta a primeira seqüência genômica parcial de um isolado de TMV do Brasil, e conforme o nosso conhecimento, o primeiro isolado de TMV do Paraná a ter algumas de suas propriedades biológicas e moleculares determinadas. Um anti-soro policlonal foi produzido, o que permitirá futuros levantamentos da ocorrência de Tobamovirus nas principais áreas de cultivo de tomate do Paraná.
