<text>Introduction: Respiratory viral illnesses are associated with diverse neurological complications, including acute transverse myelitis (ATM). Among the respiratory viral pathogens, the Coronaviridae family and its genera coronaviruses have been implicated as having neurotropic and neuroinvasive capabilities in human hosts. 1 Despite previous strains of coronaviruses exhibiting neurotropic and neuroinvasive capabilities, little is known about the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and its involvement with the central nervous system (CNS). The current pandemic has highlighted the diverse clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2 including a possible link to CNS manifestation with disease processes such as Guillain-Barré syndrome and cerebrovascular disease. It is critical to shed light on the varied neurological manifestation of SARS-CoV-2 to ensure clinicians do not overlook at-risk patient populations and are able to provide targeted therapies appropriately. Case Report: While there are currently no published reports on post-infectious ATM secondary to SARS-CoV-2, there is one report of parainfectious ATM attributed to SARS-CoV-2 in pre-print. Here, we present a case of infectious ATM attributed to SARS-CoV-2 in a 24-year-old male who presented with bilateral lower-extremity weakness and overflow urinary incontinence after confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed non-enhancing T2-weighted hyperintense signal abnormalities spanning from the seventh through the twelfth thoracic level consistent with acute myelitis. Conclusion: The patient underwent further workup and treatment with intravenous corticosteroids with improvement of symptoms and a discharge diagnosis of ATM secondary to SARS-CoV-2.</text>

<text>Climate change is promoting alterations in climatic conditions. This article analyzes the way how people deal with dry seasons in the community of Tucaque. Droughts are a rough limit in the development of any population. Even more if there are obstacles that retain the adaptive capacity to this event. These barriers are the economic resources scarcity and, the social and institutional factors. The latter two are seen in Tucaque where individualism dominates the people’s social life; there is also weak governance, and the weak connections with the Frias Municipality do not allow the right management of dry seasons. Droughts will continue happening so it’s a good idea to know the opportunities that may be used in order to take advantage of them and overcome the climatic stress. So, there is the canal El Bronce, that reduces the drought effects; the Ronda Campesina de Tucaque, despite of the difficulties it is a respected and organized institution in the community; ethno climatic knowledge that can be revalorize in front of the absence of meteorological stations; and the pitaya farming, which does not consume much water for its growth and it is a product with big economic possibilities. Being the agriculture a very sensitive activity to climatic modifications, actions taken against droughts will perfectly fit in adaptation measures to climate change.</text>

Abstract This work aims to strengthen the capacities of rural communities for autonomous adaptation to climate change, through the socialization of the experiences of Chumundé, Playa de Oro and San Miguel, in the province of Esmeraldas, Ecuador. The informants are 200 people who participated in a dialogue process approached from Social Ethnography, through participatory workshops, interviews and surveys. The Impact Measurement Model of Echavarren and the European Community Climate Adaptation Model are applied. The results allow us to infer that the population of the communities has managed to strengthen their capacities to start autonomous processes of adaptation to climate change through the dynamics of entrepreneurship. The biggest advance is the implementation of processes in the fields of protection of health and material goods. The weaknesses to overcome are linked to the lack of knowledge regarding regulations, and the lack of finances destined for prevention by the local government.</text>
