Esta investigación tiene el objetivo de exponer una experiencia didáctica sobre la interpretación de los riesgos naturales y el cambio climático a partir de la propuesta de diferentes estudios de caso de la provincia de Alicante (España). Dicha propuesta se lleva a cabo en la asignatura de Cambio Climático y Riesgo en el Mediterráneo del Máster en Planificación y Gestión de Riesgos Naturales (Universidad de Alicante). Metodológicamente se han expuesto diferentes ejemplos de análisis sobre las temáticas de: 1) Las sequías; 2) La explotación y sangrado de cursos fluviales; 3) Tendencias climáticas; y 4) Medidas de adaptación al cambio climático. Con estos ejemplos se pretende que los discentes sepan diferenciar e interpretar, para el área de estudio, las causas y consecuencias provocadas por los riesgos naturales y el cambio climático (concretamente sequías e inundaciones) y la adaptación del ser humano a estos problemas socio-ambientales. Como conclusión cabe poner de manifiesto que estos ejemplos ayudan al discente a comprender la complejidad del territorio, desvinculando de esta manera los estereotipos sobre estos problemas y dando una mayor importancia a la influencia de la acción del ser humano en el incremento del riesgo.

En la región mediterránea uno de los principales riesgos naturales son las sequías. Este fenómeno se ha agravado en las últimas décadas debido al incremento de la vulnerabilidad asociadas a actividades humanas y, según los escenarios futuros de cambio climático, se prevé que aumente la peligrosidad (mayor intensidad y frecuencia de los periodos secos). El objetivo de este trabajo es llevar a cabo un análisis de cómo se explica el riesgo de sequía en los manuales escolares de Ciencias Sociales (3er ciclo de Educación Primaria) en la Comunidad Valenciana (España). A partir de la consulta de estos recursos (las 5 editoriales más utilizadas), los resultados obtenidos indican que esta temática adquiere una escasa atención, sin definir el concepto de sequía y siendo una de las principales causas actuales a este fenómeno el cambio climático. Y respecto a las imágenes, estas se caracterizan por presentar una imagen catastrófica y descontextualizada con los contenidos. Por lo tanto, estos fenómenos tan característicos del clima mediterráneo se explican de una forma vulgar y donde el ser humano (factor vulnerabilidad) no tiene un protagonismo en la incidencia del riesgo.

El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar un estado de la cuestión de las contribuciones realizadas en España sobre la investigación y enseñanza en Didáctica de la Climatología (1980-2020). Este trabajo resulta de notable interés para comprobar la evolución y temáticas de estas publicaciones tras el trascurso de cuatro décadas desde la formación del grupo de trabajo de Didáctica de la Geografía (1986). A partir de la consulta de diferentes bases de datos (8.303 publicaciones identificadas) y tras su posterior depuración, la cifra de trabajos ascendió a 89. Las contribuciones se distribuyen en dos ejes principales: trabajos sobre el clima y tiempo atmosférico (53,9%) y sobre el cambio climático (46,1%), siendo este último eje el que mayor atención ha tenido en la última década. A su vez, se han identificado 3 temáticas: trabajos sobre la enseñanza; análisis de las representaciones sociales; y libros de texto. Como conclusión, cabe indicar que la investigación y enseñanza en Didáctica de la Climatología en España es un tema del s. XXI y, a esperas de conocer a corto plazo la tendencia de estas investigaciones y temáticas teniendo en cuenta la influencia de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (Agenda 2030) y el cambio climático.

La enseñanza de la temática del tiempo y clima ha experimentado un notable interés y renovación en los últimos años debido a la preocupación social por las cuestiones ambientales en el marco del proceso de cambio climático actual. Debido a este interés, este trabajo plantea diferentes objetivos. Por un lado, presentar el cambio climático como el proceso ambiental más importante y de efectos más destacados del presente siglo en la superficie terrestre. En segundo lugar, justificar el tratamiento preciso y científico de esta cuestión en el ámbito escolar (Educación Secundaria y Bachillerato) y explicar los principales efectos que ello puede tener en las futuras generaciones. Y tercero, plantear diferentes actividades para la enseñanza del cambio climático en el aula, con sus diferentes aspectos asociados (evolución histórica, efectos en episodios extremos, en elementos climáticos y en la economía y sociedad). La correcta presentación del cambio climático y sus efectos es una cuestión esencial para la formación de las sociedades en el presente siglo tal y como señalan los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) de las Naciones Unidas (Agenda 2030) o la propia Ley de Cambio Climático española (mayo de 2021).

En la región mediterránea el principal riesgo natural son las inundaciones. Este se ha agravado en las últimas décadas por el incremento de la exposición del ser humano y se prevé que aumente la peligrosidad según los escenarios de cambio climático. Por este motivo, tratar estos temas en el aula y la formación de maestros/as sobre esta temática debe ser una prioridad tal y como establece el currículo de Educación Primaria (área de Ciencias Sociales). Los objetivos de esta investigación son: 1) Analizar los conocimientos que poseen los/as futuros/as maestros/as sobre el riesgo de inundación para desarrollar estos contenidos en el aula; 2) Comprobar la relevancia que los/as futuros/as docentes le conceden a esta problemática socio-ambiental; y 3) Entender qué tipo de formación académica inicial han recibido estos/as alumnos/as para enfrentarse a estos desafíos de la enseñanza durante la Educación Primaria. Metodológicamente se ha realizado una encuesta a modo de estudio de caso a los/as futuros/as maestros/as de Educación Primaria (Facultat de Magisteri, Universidad de Valencia). Los resultados indican que estos tienen: 1) Escasos conocimientos previos en relación con los riesgos de inundación; 2) Una reducida percepción de la importancia del factor vulnerabilidad para mitigar el riesgo; y 3) Escasa información recibida sobre esta temática en su etapa de formación escolar.

En este texto se aborda el cultivo de caña de azúcar en Colombia y su relación con el acaparamiento y la concentración de la tierra. Con ese objetivo, incorporo el concepto de acumulación por desposesión, que contribuye de manera significativa a comprender la desigualdad de la distribución de la tierra. El análisis del problema involucra la utilización de métodos cuantitativos y espaciales para comparar zonas geográficas que tienen caña de azúcar con aquellos que no la tienen, en aras de determinar el impacto de este cultivo en relación con el acceso a la tierra en Colombia. Abstract: In this text, I discuss the cultivation of sugar cane cultivation in Colombia and its relation to land grabbing and land concentration. Fur such purpose I use the concept of accumulation by dispossession, which contributes significantly to understand the inequality of land distribution in Colombia. The analysis of the problem involves quantitative and spatial methods for comparing geographical areas that have Sugarcane crops with those that do not have them, in order to determine the impact of such crop on land access in Colombia. Our aim was to assess the combination of olive tree-related extracts with the most favorable profile of in vitro bioactive properties. We tested the antioxidant (increment of low-density lipoprotein resistance against oxidation), vasoactive (promotion of nitric oxide release and decrease of endothelin-1 production in human umbilical vein endothelial cells), anti-inflammatory (decrease of the endothelial production of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1), and antithrombotic (reduction of the endothelial release of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1) capacities of six phenolic extracts and three triterpenic acid solutions (Ps and Ts, respectively). We tested extracts alone and in combination, at nutritional (Ps: 0.05–0.5 μmol/L; Ts: 0.001–0.1 μmol/L) and nutraceutical doses (Ps: 1–10 μmol/L; Ts: 0.25–10 μmol/L). The combination of Ps rich in 3,4-dihydroxyphenylglycol (76%, P2), hydroxytyrosol (95%, P3), and oleuropein (70%, P4) (final nutritional concentration: 0.15 μmol/L; final nutraceutical concentration: 3 μmol/L) was the best in order to prepare functional products and nutraceuticals with cardioprotective properties, despite the fact that the isolated extract with the greatest in vitro properties was P5 (75% oleocanthal), suggesting a potential synergistic effect among different olive components.

El impacto de la variabilidad climática y el cambio climático obligan a desarrollar políticas integrales y coherentes orientadas a la adaptación de los diferentes sectores productivos del país. En este artículo se analizan los beneficios e inconvenientes del uso de los agrocombustibles en Colombia, considerando un marco integral que incluye impactos ambientales, sociales y económicos. Se concluye que los beneficios fiscales que recibe el Estado por los agrocombustibles no corresponden con los costos de oportunidad que paga la sociedad en inversión social y deterioro ambiental. Se recomienda una diversificación de cultivos que garantice la soberanía alimentaria del país y que contribuya a mejorar la calidad de vida de la población rural, que alcanza altos índices de pobreza e indigencia.
