Knowledge about the impact of COVID-19 on SWB is paramount for developing public policies to tackle mental health during health emergency periods. Decreases in life satisfaction are likely not only due to exposure to daily negative emotions but also due to hopelessness, fear, and avoidance of social interactions. We examined in a sample of 541 Spanish adults (1) reactions to the COVID-19 outbreak and (2) the mediating role of these reactions in the associations of hope and social phobia with life satisfaction through different levels of positive and negative affect. A moderated mediation analysis showed that the conditional indirect effect of hope and social anxiety on life satisfaction through information depended on the participants’ having high positive affect and low negative affect. Affect seems to be a mechanism that modulates the influence of individuals’ perception about COVID-19 on their life satisfaction. Those with high positive affect might see the “general picture” and search for adequate information as they avoid focusing on the problem and on specific information that precludes preventive behaviors. Having a positive affect might help individuals to adopt information-processing strategies during the COVID-19 outbreak that will improve their life satisfaction. Si bien se ha efectuado un gran número de predicciones sobre los cambios que ocurrirán en el clima, pocos estudios evaluaron el impacto que éste tendrá sobre las distribuciones de las especies. En este estudio se estima el efecto del cambio climático sobre la distribución y la conservación de especies endémicas en los años 2050 y 2080, bajo dos escenarios futuros (A2 y B1), para la región del noroeste argentino, coincidente con la porción sur de los Andes Centrales. Los resultados indican que desde el presente al 2080, el cambio climático en la región del NOA ocasionará un único evento de extinción y modificaciones en los rangos de distribución de las especies endémicas. Además, se observa un desplazamiento generalizado de las especies endémicas hacia zonas de mayor altitud y hacia zonas subtropicales. En consecuencia, se estima que los impactos del cambio climático futuro serán mayores para eco-regiones bajas y menos áridas. Asimismo, el sistema de áreas protegidas del NOA no representará de forma adecuada a la flora endémica en el futuro, bajo ningún escenario, según el objetivo de conservación establecido en el presente trabajo. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que houve influência dos TRH (em que o TRH 7 expressou os melhores resultados, para produção semanal média de biogás, com 40,7 L, e CH4, com 32,2 L) e das concentrações de enzimas, com maiores valores de produção para os tratamentos 1,0 (24,6 L) e 1,5 g L-1 (26,2 L), que não diferiram entre si. As concentrações de enzimas de 1,0 e 1,5 g L-1 apresentaram maiores potenciais de produção de biogás (1,1 e 1,1 L g-1 de DQO adicionada, respectivamente) e metano (0,9 e 0,8 L g¹ de DQO adicionada, respectivamente), quando comparadas com as da 0,5 g L-1 (0,8 e 0,7 L g-1 biogás e CH4, respectivamente) e 0 (0,7 e 0,5 L g-1 biogás e CH4, respectivamente). As maiores remoções de DQO foram alcançadas nas concentrações de 0,5 g L-1 (83,3%) e TRH de 21 dias (74,4%). Contudo, para que haja maior eficiência na reciclagem energética, recomenda-se a utilização de concentrações de 1,0 g L-1 de efluente e tempo de retenção hidráulica de 7 dias. Consequently, zooplankton composition changes in association to fluctuations in the trophic degree. To comprehend these processes, this study analyzed the influence of nutrient concentrations (N and P) on the population dynamics of three species of Cladocera - Moina minuta, Ceriodaphnia cornuta, and Diapahnosoma spinulosum - from the Taperoá II Dam, Paraíba, Brazil; METHODS: Animals were experimentally submitted to different nutrient concentrations as a means to reproduce specific trophic conditions from natural environments. Zooplankton densities were evaluated once every three days, with food (i.e. algal cultures) being supplied in alternate days. To compare population growth, an ANOVA was performed, followed by Tukey's HSD post-hoc test; RESULTS: The population growth of the three species differed significantly both among species and among treatments. Moina minuta populations showed higher growth rates under higher nutrient concentrations, whereas Ceriodaphnia cornuta growed more efficiently in intermediate concentrations, and Diaphanosoma spinulosum showed a better development in low nutrient concentrations; CONCLUSIONS: The results from the experimental approach, presented here, are similar to what is observed in the field, based on previous studies carried out in the Taperoá II Dam. Therefore, these results suggest that the hydrological cycle seems to be the major determinant of zooplankton population dynamics in aquatic semi-arid environmentsOBJETIVO: Os ambientes aquáticos de regiões semi-áridas sofrem alterações na qualidade da água e no seu volume devido à irregularidade do período chuvoso. Consequentemente, o zooplâncton sofre alterações em sua composição com a evolução do estado trófico. Para a compreensão desse processo, este trabalho analisou experimentalmente a influência da concentração de nutrientes (N e P) sobre a dinâmica populacional de três espécies de cladóceros: Moina minuta, Ceriodaphnia cornuta e Diaphanosoma spinulosum; MÉTODOS: Os animais foram submetidos a diferentes concentrações de nutrientes (N e P), de modo a representar diferentes níveis tróficos. As suas densidades foram medidas a cada três dias, e alimentação feita com uma cultura plurialgal em dias alternados. Para a comparação do desenvolvimento das populações, foi feito o teste ANOVA, seguido do teste de Tukey; RESULTADOS: O crescimento populacional das três espécies diferiu significativamente tanto entre as espécies quanto entre os tratamentos. As populações de Moina minuta obtiveram maior crescimento nas concentrações mais elevadas de nutrientes e Ceriodaphnia cornuta em concentrações intermediárias, enquanto Diaphanosoma spinulosum se desenvolveu melhor no tratamento com baixa concentração de nutrientes; CONCLUSÕES: Observa-se que, para as três espécies, o resultado obtido em laboratório é similar ao observado em campo, obtidos em estudos realizados anteriormente no local, e que o ciclo hidrológico parece ser o principal regulador da dinâmica desses organismos em ambientes aquáticos do semi-árido. Ervin, Jorge de Castro Kiehl Description An account of the resource Water stress is one of the most important environmental factors inducing physiological changes in plants, such as decrease in the water potential of the cells, the stomatal closure; and the development of oxidative processes mediated by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) are efficient scavengers of ROS. The aim of this research was to examine how the application of biostimulant based on humic substances and aminoacids may affect activity levels of SOD, CAT, and APX of maize and soybean plants under well-watered or drought stress conditions. Pots (4.5 L) were filled with a Typic Hapludult soil where the biostimulants doses were applied. It was taken leaf samples in order to analyze SOD, CAT, and APX activities in plants. SOD and APX activity levels were increased by application of biostimulant 1 in maize subjected to stress. Catalase activity was not enhanced in plants by using the biostimulants. The composition of the biostimulants was not able to enhance stress tolerance in maize and soybean plants subjected to water stress.O estresse hídrico é um dos mais importantes fatores ambientais que induz mudanças fisiológicas, como diminuição do potencial de água na célula, o fechamento dos estômatos e o desenvolvimento de processos oxidativos mediante a formação das espécies reativas de oxigênio (ROS). O objetivo deste estudo foi examinar como a aplicação de bioestimulantes com substâncias húmicas e aminoácidos em sua composição afeta os níveis de SOD, CAT e APX nos tecidos das folhas de plantas de milho e de soja cultivadas com ou sem estresse hídrico. Amostras de um Argissolo foram colocadas em vasos (4,5 L) onde foram adicionadas as doses dos bioestimulantes. Foram retiradas amostras de folhas para análise da atividade da SOD, CAT e APX nas plantas. A SOD e APX aumentaram nas plantas de milho com a aplicação do bioestimulante 1. A atividade da CAT não aumentou nas plantas com a aplicação dos bioestimulantes. A partir de uma abordagem historiográfica, são delineados diferentes contextos de interação entre o consumo de cinema e os hábitos urbanos na cidade, em um percurso cronológico que tem como destino, e propósito, o debate acerca da virtualização dos modos de vida nas metrópoles contemporâneas, contexto particularmente acentuado pela pandemia do Covid-19. Para tanto, o texto constrói-se em três momentos. No primeiro, explora a participação das salas de cinema na modelagem da São Paulo moderna, em um processo que desemboca na ascensão tanto da atividade exibidora, quanto das próprias condições de urbanidade. O segundo momento contempla um período de reconfiguração do circuito de exibição, que passa de definidor da cidade a ser então definido por ela, ambos pautados por uma tendência de privatização da vida urbana. O terceiro momento, ainda em curso, remete finalmente à consolidação do ambiente digital e às novas perspectivas que dele derivam, tanto para o cinema, quanto para a cidade. Em um cenário de inevitável impacto frente à virtualização dos hábitos de vida urbanos, emergem questões fundamentais aos estudos urbanos contemporâneos, dentre as quais destaca-se particularmente uma : as relações entre as atuais práticas de consumo cinematográfico e o esvaziamento do espaço público das grandes cidades. Entretanto, esta atividade não se restringe apenas ao cultivo e produção de alimentos, pois possui uma gama de modalidades com funcionalidades distintas. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo expor a importância da agricultura produzida no tecido urbano, além de fomentar o debate acadêmico sobre a atividade laboral, entender de que forma este fenômeno está instituído no município de Campos dos Goytacazes-RJ, sobretudo a partir das hortas vinculadas ao programa Eco Hortas Comunitárias, criado em 1990 por lei municipal. A metodologia adotada para a consecução do trabalho é qualitativa descritiva, com o levantamento bibliográfico, sistematização de dados secundários (IBGE e Prefeitura Municipal de Campos dos Goytacazes), levantamento de dados primários (agricultores urbanos, supervisores, técnicos) e análise dos dados e informações levantadas. Dessa forma, buscamos entender todo o processo de estruturação e a dinâmica socioeconômica desta atividade no município. Sendo um elemento de ocupação do solo que produz alimentos de qualidade, expansão de áreas verdes e criação de novos postos de emprego.
