Una de estas es el Reglamento de Canasta Básica Tributaria de Costa Rica (CBT), el cual establece una reducción en la carga impositiva a los alimentos consumidos por tales grupos, según la Encuesta Nacional de Ingresos y Gastos de los Hogares (ENIGH) de 2013. El objetivo de esta investigación es comparar el valor nutricional de la CBT y los requerimientos nutricionales para el caso del primer quintil de la ENIGH. El enfoque del estudio es cuantitativo y de tipo correlacional. La muestra la conforma el primer quintil de la ENIGH, 2013, compuesto por adultos sanos entre 19 y 60 años. El análisis se realizó durante el primer cuatrimestre de 2020, mediante un instrumento formulado en Excel, en el cual se elaboró un plan de alimentación con los productos de la CBT, calculando el contenido de energía, macronutrientes, ácidos grasos saturados, fibra, calcio, zinc, magnesio, vitamina E y vitamina D. Se identificó que el 46 % de ellos son fuente o buena fuente de alguno de los nutrientes en estudio y que 6 de los 11 nutrientes se adecuan satisfactoriamente a los requerimientos. Se concluyó que, a partir de dichos comestibles, se puede formular una dieta acorde a las necesidades nutricionales de una población, por cuanto la mayoría de los excesos y las deficiencias encontradas no son perjudiciales para la salud. RESULTADOS: O destino da produção, em sua maioria, foi local e 17,7% dos municípios compraram alimentos orgânicos da agricultura familiar no ano de 2010. Foram relatadas dificuldades tanto do nutricionista quanto dos agricultores familiares e das cooperativas. A maioria dos agricultores e cooperativas não tinha certificação de seus produtos e enfrentava problemas de produção, revelando a necessidade de apoio técnico. Os nutricionistas ressaltaram a falta de certificação de agricultores e a baixa oferta de alimentos orgânicos. Para agricultores e cooperativas, as limitações na comercialização para a alimentação escolar foram a baixa procura por parte dos municípios, as dificuldades no transporte e a sazonalidade da produção. Apesar das dificuldades relatadas, os municípios catarinenses já adquirem frutas, verduras, legumes e outros alimentos. The alkaloids obtained from the plant family Amaryllidaceae have interesting structures and biological activities, such as acetylcholinesterase inhibition potential, which is one of the mechanisms used for the palliative treatment of Alzheimer’s disease symptoms. Herein we report the alkaloidal profile of bulbs and leaves extracts of Crinum × amabile collected in Ecuador and their in vitro inhibitory activity on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) enzymes. Using Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), we identified 12 Amaryllidaceae alkaloids out of 19 compounds detected in this species. Russell Description An account of the resource This reflective essay describes steps taken by Business faculty in a U.S. Midwestern mid-sized regional university to assist faculty in making the rapid transition to 100% online teaching. These steps include the development of an online course template within the university’s course management system made available to all faculty with tips and video tutorials specifically tailored to business courses. The coronavirus pandemic forced faculty members at institutions across the world into teaching online in about two weeks. Many tenure-track professors and full-time instructors, who were required to complete extensive training prior to teaching online courses, were relatively well-prepared. In spite of this training, some instructors felt overwhelmed when the pandemic forced an immediate transition online. Adjunct instructors and some junior faculty were particularly affected. Consistent with the conservation of resources theory which suggests that individuals conserve their limited resources (e.g., time, money, etc.) to ensure availability when they are most needed, many instructors, particularly adjunct and junior faculty, were constrained by competing demands. Adjunct instructors often teach limited courses while maintaining full-time employment in their respective fields. Junior faculty also have limited resources due to service and publishing demands. The availability of a special online course helped these vulnerable faculty members make the rapid transition to emergency online teaching. This reflective essay also describes the results of a survey about this transition among both faculty and center for teaching and learning (CTL) staff. Lastly, we recommend strategies for CTLs and academic departments to prepare for future crises. “Deputizing” power-users in each academic unit to redistribute workloads during emergencies and sharing tips and tricks customized for their departments is one such strategy. Although the promoters of these genes are known to contain CpG islands, the specific DNA sequences that are associated with high RNAP binding to housekeeping promoters has not been described. Results ChIP-chip experiments from three mouse tissues, liver, heart ventricles, and primary keratinocytes, indicate that 94% of promoters have similar RNAP binding, ranging from well-bound to poorly-bound in all tissues. Using all 8-base pair long sequences as a test set, we have identified the DNA sequences that are enriched in promoters of housekeeping genes, focusing on those DNA sequences which are preferentially localized in the proximal promoter. We observe a bimodal distribution. Virtually all sequences enriched in promoters with high RNAP binding values contain a CpG dinucleotide. These results suggest that only transcription factor binding sites (TFBS) that contain the CpG dinucleotide are involved in RNAP binding to housekeeping promoters while TFBS that do not contain a CpG are involved in regulated promoter activity. Abundant 8-mers that are preferentially localized in the proximal promoters and exhibit the best enrichment in RNAP bound promoters are all variants of six known CpG-containing TFBS: ETS, NRF-1, BoxA, SP1, CRE, and E-Box. The frequency of these six DNA motifs can predict housekeeping promoters as accurately as the presence of a CpG island, suggesting that they are the structural elements critical for CpG island function. Experimental EMSA results demonstrate that methylation of the CpG in the ETS, NRF-1, and SP1 motifs prevent DNA binding in nuclear extracts in both keratinocytes and liver. Conclusion In general, TFBS that do not contain a CpG are involved in regulated gene expression while TFBS that contain a CpG are involved in constitutive gene expression with some CpG containing sequences also involved in inducible and tissue specific gene regulation. These TFBS are not bound when the CpG is methylated. Unmethylated CpG dinucleotides in the TFBS in CpG islands allow the transcription factors to find their binding sites which occur only in promoters, in turn localizing RNAP to promoters.
