Recent observation and modeling-based studies have shown how air quality has been positively affected by the containment measures enforced due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This work aims to analyze Lombardy’s NO2 atmospheric concentration during the spring lockdown. The region of Lombardy is known for having the largest number of residents in Italy and high levels of pollution. It is also the region where the first European confinement measures were imposed by the Italian government. The modeling suite composed of CAMx (Comprehensive Air Quality Model with Extensions) and WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting model) provides the setting to compare the atmospheric NO2 concentration from mid-February to the end of March with a business as usual situation. The main interest in this work is to investigate the response of NO2 atmospheric concentration to increasingly reduced road traffic. We can simulate, for the first time, a real circumstance of progressively reduced mobility, as well as validating it with measured air quality data. Focusing on the city of Milan, we found that the decrease in NO2 concentration reflects progressively reduced traffic contraction. In the case of a large traffic abatement (71%), the concentration level is reduced by one third. We also find that industrial activities have a relevant impact on NO2 atmospheric concentration, especially in the provinces of Brescia and Bergamo. This study provides an overview of how incisive policies must be implemented to achieve the set environmental targets and protect human health.

The present article is the result of an investigation between CIDE-UNA to build a desirable profile for teachers that might teach seventh grade in Costa Rican public education schools. This article evidences transparency in the ecology of learning spaces, known as the environment, the actors involved and their complex interrelations. There is also a description of these spaces and their incidence in the permanence and promotion of the students population, in the singular moment in which the educational system imposes them the first and rough institutional changes coinciding with physical transformations and social and familiar relationships.

El presente trabajo de investigación muestra que para la construcción de una línea de transmisión de 220 kv. Cajamarca – Carhuamayo se emitió a la atmósfera 4025 toneladas de CO2 equivalentes lo que nos lleva a pensar que toda actividad es responsable por la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero a la atmósfera que llevará al Calentamiento Global para posterior a ello llevarnos al Cambio Climático. El trabajo se realizó en base a 2 alcances; el alcance 1 originado por el consumo de combustible y el alcance 2 originado por el consumo de energía eléctrica, de las cuales el alcance 1 representan al 93% con 3756 toneladas de CO2 frente al 7% de del alcance 2 con 269 toneladas de CO2 equivalente, esto se debe a que para este proyecto por ser de construcción su principal insumo para el desarrollo de sus actividades es el combustible. Ello sirve para que la empresa adopte medidas más orientadas a disminuir sobre lo que más está afectando con las emisiones de GEI y centrar esfuerzos sobre ello.

Os Estados Unidos registraram um forte crescimento na produção produtos orgânicos, medido tanto por terras aráveis dedicadas a produtos orgânicos quanto pelo valor do mercado de produtos orgânicos. Entre os países que produzem esses produtos, é o terceiro maior em termos de terras aráveis dedicadas à produção orgânica. Além disso, os EUA têm o maior consumo de produtos orgânicos. A decisão tomada pelos pequenos produtores ao escolher quais canais de vendas acessar é uma questão complicada. Na Califórnia, estado com a maior quantidade de terra usada para agricultura orgânica, pequenos produtores orgânicos usam entre dois e quatro canais de distribuição para vender seus produtos. O principal objetivo deste artigo é identificar até que ponto os principais canais de distribuição usados pelos produtores para vender seus produtos resultam na captura de valor pelo produtor ou por seus canais de distribuição. O estudo constata que os produtores concentram suas vendas em canais onde capturam maior valor e usam canais secundários para escoar produtos que não podem ser facilmente vendidos através de canais prioritários. Além disso, os produtores usam canais de vendas diretas, como os mercados dos agricultores – apesar dos ativos altamente específicos envolvidos nesta transação, devido aos grandes investimentos necessários para acessá-los – porque fornecem o maior retorno em termos de valor do produto entre os vários canais de distribuição.

(1) Background: The availability of research datasets can strengthen and facilitate research processes. This is specifically relevant in the emergency medicine field due to the importance of providing immediate care in critical situations as the very current Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic is showing to the scientific community. This work aims to show which Emergency Medicine journals indexed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR) currently meet data sharing criteria. (2) Methods: This study analyzes the editorial policies regarding the data deposit of the journals in the emergency medicine category of the JCR and evaluates the Supplementary material of the articles published in these journals that have been deposited in the PubMed Central repository. (3) Results: It has been observed that 19 out of the 24 journals contained in the emergency medicine category of Journal Citation Reports are also located in PubMed Central (PMC), yielding a total of 5983 articles. Out of these, only 9.4% of the articles contain supplemental material. Although second quartile journals of JCR emergency medicine category have quantitatively more articles in PMC, the main journals involved in the deposit of supplemental material belong to the first quartile, of which the most used format in the articles is pdf, followed by text documents. (4) Conclusion: This study reveals that data sharing remains an incipient practice in the emergency medicine field, as there are still barriers between researchers to participate in data sharing. Therefore, it is necessary to promote dynamics to improve this practice both qualitatively (the quality and format of datasets) and quantitatively (the quantity of datasets in absolute terms) in research.

Meningoencephalomyelitis of unknown origin (MUO) is an umbrella term describing inflammatory changes of the central nervous system (CNS) with suspected non-infectious etiology. Diagnosis of MUO mostly remains presumed in a clinical setting. Histopathological and immunohistochemical examination of CNS tissue represent additional tools for detection of inflammation and the exclusion of specific infectious agents. While MUO is well-described in canine patients, only little is known about MUO in cats. Previous reports of feline MUO involve either clinical findings or histopathological examination but not both. The present case series is the first report describing both clinical and histopathological findings of feline MUO: Four cats (age: 1.7–17.8 years) showed acute to chronic progressive neurological signs of encephalopathy or myelopathy. Three cats had extraneural signs (hyperthermia, weight loss, hyporexia, leukocytosis). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed multifocal intraparenchymal lesions in forebrain, brainstem or spinal cord with homogenous contrast enhancement (2/2). Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) examination was normal or displayed albuminocytologic dissociation. Histopathology revealed a multifocal, lympho-histiocytic meningoencephalitis in three cases and a lympho-histiocytic myelitis in one case. Immunohistochemistry for feline parvovirus, feline coronavirus, feline herpesvirus, tick borne encephalitis virus, Borna disease virus, morbillivirus, rabies virus, suid herpesvirus-1, and Toxoplasma gondii were negative in all cases.One Sentence SummaryThis case series is the first one reporting both clinical and histopathological findings in cats with MUO. Feline MUO incorporates heterogeneous subtypes of sterile CNS inflammation.
