                <text>La problemática de implementar alternativas nutricionales en las plantaciones bananeras es un caso significativo que se presenta como prioridad productiva, social y económica al implementar una agricultura orgánica, limitando el uso de químicos que contaminan las cosechas y el medio ambiente de manera general. El cultivo tradicional del banano utiliza altas dosis de fertilizantes químicos, especialmente Nitrógeno y Potasio, lo que propicia buscar alternativas nutricionales y manejar las plantaciones en una forma más sostenible. La producción de banano orgánico en las áreas de producción tradicional conlleva cambios en la tecnología del cultivo, donde para mantener los requerimientos nutricionales del cultivo y garantizar una producción eficiente, en la que se elevan los costos, se hace necesaria la implementación de nuevas alternativas para lograr un producto de calidad y elevado valor de venta, lo que garantizaría el éxito de las producciones orgánicas, lo que han conllevado a cumplimentar los siguientes objetivos: Relacionar las diferentes fuentes de residuos orgánicos empleadas como suministros de nutrimentos alternativos para plantaciones de banano orgánico y describir alternativas de fertilización orgánica para mantener los requerimientos nutricionales en plantaciones de banano orgánico.</text>

                <text>Introducción- El cultivo de fresa es el tercero en importancia en Pamplona, Norte de Santander. Las plantaciones reciben aplicaciones indiscriminadas de fertilizantes y plaguicidas químicos.Objetivo- Evaluar alternativas orgánicas para el control de las enfermedades foliares y del suelo, las babosas, y para la carencia de fósforo con vistas al logro de producciones más limpias de la fresa.Metodología- Se desarrollaron cuatro ensayos en campos de fresa, uno para el control de enfermedades de la parte aérea, el segundo para el control de enfermedades de la raíz, el tercero para la nutrición fosfórica y el cuarto para el control de babosas. En los tres primeros se evaluaron diferentes biopreparados producidos localmente a partir de microorganismos eficientes y en el último la tierra de diatomeas.Resultados- Caldo Rizósfera y microorganismos eficientes (ME) mostraron resultados similares al fungicida protectante Dithane contra mancha por Ramularia, la antracnosis en hojas, flores y frutos, la pudrición por Botrytis y la mancha bacteriana, mientras que Caldo Rizósfera, ME y otra variante de ME (M6) resultaron similares al fungicida Benomil y fosfito de potasio para el control de las enfermedades radiculares causadas por Fusaium spp y Phytophthora fragarie. Caldo Rizósfera y M6 disminuyeron en mayor medida la incidencia y severidad de la deficiencia de fósforo y favorecieron una mayor concentración de  este en las hojas. La tierra de diatomea demostró eficacia para el control de las babosas con dos aplicaciones, dosis entre 4 y 8 kg/ha y la adición de PEGAL CS pH 18,767 g/L como adherente.Conclusiones- Los resultados permiten incorporar nuevas alternativas para el control de enfermedades foliares y radiculares, así como las babosas y la nutrición fosfórica en el cultivo de la fresa en aras de obtener producciones más limpias en las condiciones de Pamplona, Norte de Santander.</text>

                <text>El comportamiento del hombre con relación al mal uso de los suelos tiene efectos negativos sobre este recurso, generando la pérdida de fertilidad de estos y procesos de degradación y desertificación, lo cual repercute directamente en la disminución y el deterioro de los recursos hídricos, la erosión y el cambio de las condiciones climáticas hacia condiciones más secas2. Últimamente se ha evidenciado cómo el recurso suelo en nuestro país ha sufrido un deterioro gradual, generado por fenómenos de erosión y de remoción de masas producidos por diversos factores, entre los cuales encontramos la erosión física y química, sumado a eventos negativos como el cambio climático y la sedimentación de los ríos, lo cual supone un impacto negativo en el ambiente. Entre los más importantes problemas ambientales —cambios, alteraciones y amenazas— que están afectando a los geoecosistemas de las regiones mediterráneas áridas, semiáridas y subhúmedas secas a comienzos del tercer milenio, la erosión del suelo y la desertificación constituyen los de mayor extensión espacial e incidencia ambiental y económica; adicional a ello, el cambio global puede exacerbarlos (Ingram et al., 1996; Williams et al., 1996). En vista de la problemática ambiental expuesta se debe buscar realizar procesos de recuperación de la cobertura vegetal del suelo e implementar medidas de control y mitigación de la erosión mediante el uso de mecanismos que en lo posible sean lo más natural posible y no induzcan nuevos impactos ambientales. Por lo tanto, en la presente revisión bibliográfica se documenta el estado del arte de las alternativas que se están manejando en bioingeniería para el control de la erosión.</text>

La alta tasa de contaminantes microbianos visibles en la fase de establecimiento, así como una baja tasa de multiplicación, enraizamiento y supervivencia ex vitro, constituyen los principales problemas durante la propagación in vitro en Bambusa vulgaris Schard. ex Wendl. El presente trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de proponer nuevas alternativas para la propagación de Bambusa vulgaris Schard. ex Wendl combinando técnicas tradicionales.Métodos. Se determinó la influencia de las condiciones climáticas en el establecimiento in vitro de los segmentos caulinares. Además, se estudió el efecto de las condiciones de cultivo en los brotes multiplicados en medio de cultivo líquido estático y Sistemas de inmersión temporal, así como su respuesta durante la fase de aclimatización.Resultados. Fueron identificados por primera vez los contaminantes microbianos de alta frecuencia de aparición asociados a las plantas en casa de cultivo e in vitro. Durante el establecimiento in vitro de las yemas axilares se logró un 99 % de brotación y 98 % de explantes libres de contaminantes microbianos visibles entre los meses de enero-abril y noviembre-diciembre. Se demostró que los brotes multiplicados entre el sexto y octavo subcultivo con 12 μM de 6-BAP pueden ser utilizados para la multiplicación en Sistemas de Inmersión Temporal. Se logró incrementar la calidad morfo-fisiológica y bioquímica de los brotes cultivados en los SIT con la menor concentración de 6-BAP (6,0 μM) y un tiempo de inmersión de 2 min, aspectos poco abordados en las especies de bambúes. Se describieron los primeros estudios en la especie sobre el efecto de la sacarosa en la respuesta morfo-fisiológica, anatómica y bioquímica de los brotes en los SIT durante la transición in vitro-ex vitro. Las plantas llevadas a la casa de cultivo pudieron emitir entre 4 y 7 nuevos brotes con altas tasas de supervivencia durante la extracción de retoños.</text>

Por esse meio, constata-se, entre os agricultores, uma preocupação permanente em garantir a reprodução da unidade familiar pautada numa melhor qualidade de vida, em que se evidencia a presença de valores socioeconômicos, mas também o resgate de valores de cunho cultural e ambiental. É possível constatar, também, a importância decisiva do papel da Associação de Desenvolvimento Rural Sustentável da Serra da Baixa Verde junto aos agricultores familiares do município, sem a qual, os agricultores dificilmente poderiam viabilizar a sua produção com base na Agroecologia.</text>

                <text>During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the limited surge capacity of the healthcare system is being quickly overwhelmed. Similar scenarios play out when an institution’s systems fail, or when local or regional disasters occur. In these situations, it becomes necessary to use one or more alternative care sites (ACS). Situated in a variety of non-healthcare structures, ACS may be used for ambulatory, acute, subacute, or chronic care. Developing alternative care facilities is the disaster-planning step that moves communities from talking to doing. This commitment pays real dividends if a disaster of any magnitude strikes. This paper discusses the basic criteria for selecting, establishing and ultimately closing an ACS, difficulties of administration, staffing, security, and providing basic supplies and equipment.</text>

                <text>Obesity is one of the major health problems worldwide. Following healthy dietary patterns can be difficult in some countries due to the lack of availability of certain foods; thus, alternative foods are needed. Our aim was to evaluate the effect of a dietary pattern consisting of fruit, avocado, whole grains, and trout (FAWGT) on postprandial insulinemia and lipemia in obese Colombian subjects. A randomized controlled crossover study was conducted, in which 44 subjects with BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 followed either a FAWGT diet or a diet high in saturated fat and rich in processed carbohydrates. Levels of lipids and carbohydrates were measured during the postprandial state. The FAWGT diet reduced fasting insulin, VLDL, and HOMA-IR after 8 weeks (p &lt; 0.05), while there was a lower postprandial increase in TG, VLDL, and insulin levels after both acute and chronic intake of FAWGT diet (p &lt; 0.05). The intake of FAWGT-diet was characterized by high consumption of foods rich in fiber, MUFAs, and vitamins C and E (p &lt; 0.05). The consumption of a diet composed of fruit, avocado, whole grains, and trout has emerged as a valid alternative to the foods included in other heart-healthy diets since it improves postprandial lipemia and insulinemia in obese people and has similar beneficial effects to these healthy models.</text>

                <text>Given the volume of research and discussion on the health, medical, economic, financial, political, and travel advisory aspects of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease, it is essential to enquire if an outbreak of the epidemic might have been anticipated, given the well-documented history of SARS and MERS, among other infectious diseases. If various issues directly related to health security risks could have been predicted accurately, public health and medical contingency plans might have been prepared and activated in advance of an epidemic such as COVID-19. This paper evaluates an important source of health security, the Global Health Security Index (2019), which provided data before the discovery of COVID-19 in December 2019. Therefore, it is possible to evaluate how countries might have been prepared for a global epidemic, or pandemic, and acted accordingly in an effective and timely manner. The GHS index numerical scores are calculated as the arithmetic (AM), geometric (GM), and harmonic (HM) means of six categories, where AM uses equal weights for each category. The GHS Index scores are regressed on the numerical score rankings of the six categories to check if the use of equal weights of 0.167 in the calculation of the GHS Index using AM is justified, with GM and HM providing a check of the robustness of the arithmetic mean. The highest weights are determined to be around 0.244–0.246, while the lowest weights are around 0.186–0.187 for AM. The ordinal GHS Index is regressed on the ordinal rankings of the six categories to check for the optimal weights in the calculation of the ordinal Global Health Security (GHS) Index, where the highest weight is 0.368, while the lowest is 0.142, so the estimated results are wider apart than for the numerical score rankings. Overall, Rapid Response and Detection and Reporting have the largest impacts on the GHS Index score, whereas Risk Environment and Prevention have the smallest effects. The quantitative and qualitative results are different when GM and HM are used.</text>

                <text>SARS-CoV-2, and several other microorganisms, may be present in nasopharyngeal and salivary secretions in patients treated in dental practices, so an appropriate clinical behavior is required in order to avoid the dangerous spread of infections. COVID-19 could also be spread when patients touches a contaminated surface with infected droplets and then touch their nose, mouth, or eyes. It is time to consider a dental practice quite similar to a hospital surgery room, where particular attention should be addressed to problems related to the spreading of infections due to air and surface contamination. The effectiveness of conventional cleaning and disinfection procedures may be limited by several factors; first of all, human operator dependence seems to be the weak aspect of all procedures. The improvement of these conventional methods requires the modification of human behavior, which is difficult to achieve and sustain. As alternative sterilization methods, there are some that do not depend on the operator, because they are based on devices that perform the entire procedure on their own, with minimal human intervention. In conclusion, continued efforts to improve the traditional manual disinfection of surfaces are needed, so dentists should consider combining the use of proper disinfectants and no-touch decontamination technologies to improve sterilization procedures.</text>
