En esta investigación, se implementó un modelo de adaptación al cambio climático en una comunidad indígena, integrada por 23 familias y 120 niños, de una institución educativa. Se desarrolló la metodología de Adaptación basada en Comunidades (AbC) y la evaluación rural participativa en factores claves, como hábitos higiénicos, uso y aprovechamiento del agua y subsistencia alimentaria, donde se evaluó una parcela demostrativa, con distintos sistemas de riego. Se evaluó la calidad del agua en los sistemas de suministro y de distribución, mediante el Índice de Riesgo de la Calidad del Agua para Consumo Humano (IRCA). Se instaló un sistema fotovoltaico híbrido de bombeo solar y molino de viento. Los resultados mostraron que un 88% de la comunidad consume menos de 50 L/persona*día, cantidad menor a la recomendada por la OMS (50 a 100 L/ persona*día), para satisfacer las necesidades vitales. El IRCA registró valores de 0,0, excepto en una muestra tomada en el sitio de acopio, con valor de 7,21, debido a la presencia de coliformes totales. El sistema de riego por goteo solar fue más eficiente, permitiendo el ahorro de agua y el sistema fotovoltaico fue viable para el abastecimiento del recurso hídrico. La comunidad, se apropió de la tecnología, conscientes de la incidencia del cambio climático y la necesidad de adoptar medidas para su mitigación y adaptación. En particular, los géneros Azotobacter y Azospirillum son utilizados como agentes promotores de crecimiento vegetal debido a su capacidad para fijar nitrógeno atmosférico y producir hormonas de tipo indólico. Por tal razón, en este estudio se aislaron bacterias diazotróficas de los géneros Azotobacter y Azospirillum a partir de la rizósfera de cultivos de algodón en el Espinal (Tolima). Las poblaciones microbianas se caracterizaron fenotípicamente en los medios de cultivo semiespecíficos: Ashby y LG (Azotobacter sp.) y NFb, LGI y Batata (Azospirillum sp.). La promoción de crecimiento vegetal se determinó mediante la actividad de la enzima nitrogenasa por medio de la técnica de reducción de acetileno y producción de índoles por el método colorimétrico de Salkowsky. Se obtuvieron 9 aislamientos tentativos de Azotobacter sp. y 4 de Azospirillum sp. Se presentaron diferencias significativas en la prueba de reducción de acetileno con las cepas presuntivas de Azotobacter sp.: NAT 9 (206.43 nmol C2H2 mL-1.h-1), NAT 4, (292.77 nmol C2H2 mL-1.h-1), y NAT 6 (460.60 nmol C2H2 mL-1.h-1) y en la producción de índoles de las cepas NAT 19 (19.87 μg.mL-1) y NAT 13 (20.08 μg.mL-1). Por su eficiencia in vitro en la promoción de crecimiento vegetal se seleccionaron las cepas NAT9, NAT4, NAT6, NAT19 y NAT13 para ser evaluadas como principio activo en futuros inoculantes para el algodón en esta zona del departamento del Tolima. Abstract: As part of strategies for sustainable agriculture, it is necessary to reduce the use of synthetic nitrogen fertilisers through the use of biofertilisers. In particular, the genera Azotobacter and Azospirillum are used as plant growth promoters because of their ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen and indolic type hormones. For this reason, in this study were isolated diazotrophic bacteria of the genera Azotobacter and Azospirillum from the rhizosphere of cotton crops in Espinal (Tolima). The microbial populations were characterized phenotypically in specific semi culture media: Ashby and LG (Azotobacter sp.) and NFb, LGI and Batata (Azospirillum sp.). The promotion of plant growth was determined by the enzyme nitrogenase activity through acetylene reduction technique and production of indoles by the salkowsky colorimetric method. 9 isolates were obtained tentative Azotobacter sp. and 4 of Azospirillum sp. Significant differences in acetylene reduction test with presumptive strains of Azotobacter sp.: NAT 9 (206.43 nmol C2H2 mL-1.h-1), NAT, 4, (292.77 nmol C2H2 mL-1.h-1), and NAT 6 (460.60 nmol C2H2 mL-1.h-1) and indole production strains NAT 19 (19.87 μg.mL-1) and NAT 13 (20.08 μg.mL-1). Como herramienta complementaria para la identificación de huesos y pelos contenidos en heces (n=60), se instalaron seis cámarastrampa en lugares estratégicos, para registrar la presencia de pumas y presas potenciales. Obtener información sobre el grupo de presas de pumas en diferentes ecosistemas, es esencial para entender los requerimientos regionales para su supervivencia y diseñar acciones de conservación que permitan seguir/evaluar las necesidades particulares de áreas protegidas en toda su distribución.Food habits of Puma concolor (Carnivora: Felidae) in the Parque Nacional Natural Puracé,Colombia. Neotropical puma (Puma concolor) diet is scarcely known, in particular that of mountain dwelling individuals from Northern South America. This is the first study on pumas from the paramo and the first puma diet analysis for Colombia. The puma diet was studied from 2007 to 2009 in the Puracé National Park in the South Colombian Andes. Paramos are unique neotropical high altitude ecosystems which store and regulate water, and are currently threatened by agricultural expansion and climate change. Seven latrines were monitored for three years and scat collected, washed and dried. Items in scat such as hair, bones, claws and others were separated. Hairs were inspected by microscopy and compared to voucher hair museum specimens. Bone fragments, claws and teeth were also compared to museum collections and identified wherever possible. Additionally, six cameras were set along game trails to document puma and potential prey presence in the area. Food items from five species were identified in 60 puma scats; Northern Pudu (Pudu mephistophiles) was the most important prey in their diet. A total of 354 camera trap-nights photographed a male and female puma, Northern pudu and Spectacled bear (Tremarctos ornatus). The main conclusion suggests a strong dependence of puma on the threatened and mysterious Northern Pudu in paramo habitats. This behavior might reflect restricted prey availability in the high Andes mountains of Colombia, and highlights the plasticity in the puma diet. Conservation actions in the paramo should thus, focus on focal wild species, and in particularly those that show a relationship, such as the one evidenced here with the dependence of puma on Northern Pudu. These findings contribute to increase the little known ecology of Andean puma populations and the species as a whole in Colombia. Baseline data on puma prey populations in different ecosystems throughout their range, is critical to understand the regional requirements for survival, and design conservation actions, to follow and evaluate the need for particular protected areas along their geographical gradients. Desde el año 2004 en que se detectó por primera vez en España, se ha extendido por el litoral mediterráneo y otras áreas del interior peninsular, siguiendo una progresión que también se da en otras regiones de Europa y del mundo. En el mes de septiembre de 2018 se detectó su presencia en el municipio de Velilla de San Antonio (Comunidad de Madrid). Se estableció un grupo de trabajo entre salud pública, la Facultad de Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y el ayuntamiento para definir y coordinar las actuaciones. Se establecieron dos áreas de trabajo, una de vigilancia, de 400-500 metros desde el punto en el que fue detectado y otra de actuación prioritaria, de 150-200 metros, con el objetivo de evaluar el área afectada, reducir su población e intentar su eliminación si ello fuera posible. En el presente trabajo se demuestra de qué manera se pueden generar escenarios de cambio climático más locales, basados en el análisis de las tendencias de las series de tiempo de los elementos del clima. Se plantea la prueba de Mann-Kendall para determinar si existe tendencia en las series temporales de dos elementos climáticos y el análisis espectral singular para generar escenarios futuros de las variables climáticas analizadas. Los resultados mostraron que en dos municipios de Colombia (El Espinal, Tolima, y Mosquera, Cundinamarca) los pastos pará (Brachiaria mutica) y kikuyo (Pennisetum clandestinum), respectivamente, tienden a requerir más agua por aumento de la evapotranspiración, sin embargo, es la textura del suelo la que determina cambios drásticos entre escenarios climáticos, en términos de requerimientos de riego.
