Para obtenção das mudas foi realizado a semeadura em bandejas e 30 dias depois as plântulas foram repicadas para sacos de polietileno de 12x25 cm contendo solo e húmus. Os tratamentos foram constituídos de quatro níveis de sombreamento: sol pleno (0% de sombreamento), 50, 70 e 90% de sombreamento, e cinco períodos de avaliação (30, 51, 72, 93 e 114 dias após a repicagem) combinados num arranjo de parcelas subdivididas no delineamento em blocos ao caso com quatro repetições (5 plantas/repetição/período). As variáveis analisadas foram altura, diâmetro, comprimento da raiz, peso da matéria seca das folhas, caule e raiz, área foliar e relação raiz/ parte aérea. A maior altura e produção de biomassa foi observado nas plantas que estavam em ambiente sombreado. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que Acnistus arborescens apresenta um melhor desenvolvimento inicial em ambiente sombreado, e que embora a espécie seja descrita como heliófita, a condição de sol pleno estudada afetou negativamente o desempenho desta espécie. Se realizó un estudio con 27 agricultores seleccionados por el método de  muestreo al azar, en los departamentos de Córdoba y Sucre de la región Caribe de Colombia, a quienes se aplicó una encuesta durante el año 2018. Los datos se analizaron en el programa SPSS, se les aplicó estadística descriptiva, medidas de tendencia central, entre las cuales están el promedio, la mediana, los valores máximos y mínimos, como también la técnica de tablas de contingencia. Los resultados mostraron que en promedio los agricultores llevan once años cultivando la berenjena y solo un 30 % conoce la variedad C015, pero no la siembra; el 34 % de los encuestados se enteró de la existencia de la variedad por un vecino. Un 62 % afirma que la decisión de sembrar la variedad la toma directamente el agricultor. Se concluye que la adopción no ha sido exitosa, con una tendencia de no volver a sembrar (77 %) después de cinco años de liberada, el 23 % restante condiciona la siembra de este material a la disponibilidad de semilla certificada. Foram identificadas e mapeadas as áreas hortícolas e as ocupadas com outros tipos de cultivo; entrevistas com técnicos e dirigentes municipais foram realizadas e um formulário foi aplicado a 23 horticultores. Constatou-se que 56,5% dos horticultores pesquisados cultivam áreas próprias cujas dimensões são inferiores a dois mil metros quadrados, sendo que 87,0% empregam sistemas convencionais de cultivo. Os 91,3% dos produtores pesquisados que comercializam a produção, o fazem por intermédio de feiras livres, sacolões, mercados de bairro e da venda direta aos consumidores. Conclui-se que a AUP é resiliente e tem sido importante na composição da renda dos produtores e no abastecimento de produtos hortícolas de alta perecibilidade. Fue una medida de urgencia ante los problemas de abastecimiento para la economía cubana pero convirtió la ciudad en un modelo urbano con más sustentabilidad socioambiental.
