Abstract - Tangerines are highly appreciated by consumers because they are generally easy to peel, they have buds that separate easily and have unparalleled flavor and aroma. In addition to the organoleptic characteristics, tangerines have nutritive function and allow good economic return in small areas of cultivation. Supply of tangerines in the off-season, from October to February, is an interesting strategy to obtain higher profitability. The adoption of early cultivars, together with the microclimates that exert influence during the maturation and harvest season, is a strategy to be considered for tangerine cultivation. In this sense, 'SCS458 Osvino' is the earliest cultivar among the most important tangerines cultivated in Santa Catarina State, being an auxiliary option for better demand at a time when there is a low supply of this fruit. It also presents an excellent commercial appeal for being seedless. Therefore, there is an increasing need to understand the disease mechanisms, identify drug targets and inflammatory processes associated with a SARS-CoV-2 infection. To address this need, we created a targeted mass spectrometry based multiplexed panel of 96 immune response associated proteins. We applied the multiplex assay to a cohort of serum samples from asymptomatic and moderately affected patients. All patients had tested positive for a SARS-CoV-2 infection by PCR and were determined to be subsequently positive for antibodies. Even 40-60 days post-viral infection, we observed a significant remaining inflammatory response in all patients. Proteins that were still affected were associated with the anti-inflammatory response and mitochondrial stress. This indicates that biochemical and inflammatory pathways within the body can remain perturbed long after SARS-CoV-2 infections have subsided even in asymptomatic and moderately affected patients. Este cultivar provino del Centro Internacional de Agricultura Tropical (CIAT) en Colombia, donde se originó en el 2001, derivada del cruzamiento SEA 15 / MD 23-24 // Tío Canela 75 / G 21212 y codificada como la línea SER 28. En Costa Rica se evaluó en 28 ensayos y 32 validaciones, durante el periodo 2003 al 2008. Su potencial de rendimiento fue de 1907 kg.ha-1 en la fase experimental y de 1467 kg.ha-1 en la fase de validación en campos de productores. La arquitectura de este cultivar es de tipo IIb, erecta con guías cortas. Presentó resistencia al virus del mosaico común del frijol (BCMV) (gen dominante I) y al virus del mosaico dorado amarillo del frijol (BGYMV) (marcador W12). Además, resistencia intermedia a la mancha angular (grado 6). Su grano es rojo pequeño brillante y presentó poca decoloración (1,3%) bajo condiciones lluviosas durante la cosecha. Este cultivar fue liberado para uso comercial el 17 de julio del 2009, en El Águila de Pérez Zeledón, San José, Costa Rica; en forma conjunta por el Instituto Nacional de Innovación y Transferencia en Tecnología Agropecuaria (INTA) y la Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR). Por sus características, Diquís se considera un cultivar adecuado para los diferentes sistemas de producción en Costa Rica. Effective surveillance strategies are required in countries with a high influx of migrants from the Middle East to mitigate the probable importation of MERS-CoV. We discuss here the risk of MERS-CoV in major labor sending countries and list the probable strategies for control and prevention of MERS-CoV using Sri Lanka as an example. It is conservatively estimated that 10% of Sri Lanka’s population work as international labor migrants (1.8 to 2 million workers), with 93% residing in the Middle East. An average of 720 workers depart each day, with the majority of these workers (71%) departing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (the country with 81.5% of total MERS-CoV cases). We also describe other inbound migration categories such as tourists and resident visa holders relevant to the context of preparedness and planning. The importance of partnerships between public health authorities at national and regional levels with labor migration networks to establish institutional and/or policy mechanisms are highlighted for ensuring effective preparedness and response planning. Strategies that can be taken by public health authorities working in both labor sending and labor receiving counties are also described.  The strategies described here may be useful for other labor sending country contexts in Asia with a high frequency and volume of migrant workers to and from the Gulf region.
