Abstract: This article, and in the context of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation initiated by Martin Luther in 1517, aims to offer the reader some keys to understanding and practicing ecumenical dialogue with the evangelical Christian communities. From this, we maintain as a premise of work, that ecumenism is understood as unity in difference, and that this coexistence represents a gift of the Spirit of Jesus. Welcoming the mediation of the sciences of language, ecology and recent theological reflection, we offer three keys as the engine of a renewed ecumenism, namely, dialogue and its relation to silence as conditio sine qua non of welcoming the other. Good-Living is based on values that advocate cooperation, solidarity, plurality and democracy, and in this sense it is placed as an alternative to the crisis just mentioned. One reported side effect that has come to light is unilateral axillary lymphadenopathy ipsilateral to the vaccination site. In general, unilateral axillary lymphadenopathy has a broad differential including malignancy, infection, autoimmune disorder, and iatrogenic etiologies. We present a case of a previously healthy 38-year-old woman who received her first dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination 3 days prior to presenting to the emergency department complaining of 2 weeks of abdominal pain and 20-pound unintentional weight loss. Unilateral axillary lymphadenopathy, ipsilateral to the vaccination site, was found on a contrast-enhanced computed tomography examination of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. Subsequent diagnostic mammograms did not demonstrate evidence of malignancy; however, axillary ultrasound again revealed nonspecific lymphadenopathy. A short-term follow-up axillary ultrasound was recommended, rather than a lymph node biopsy, given the history of recent vaccination. At clinical follow-up, the patient's abdominal pain resolved and no further weight loss was noted. This case report discusses the key components and workup recommendation of unilateral axillary lymphadenopathy in the setting of COVID-19 vaccination. Alignment-free approaches based on the search for marker k-mers turned out to be capable of identifying not only species, but also strains of microorganisms with known genomes. Here, we evaluated the ability of genus-specific k-mers to distinguish eight phylogroups of Escherichia coli (A, B1, C, E, D, F, G, B2) and assessed the presence of their unique 22-mers in clinical samples from microbiomes of four healthy people and four patients with Crohn&#8217;s disease. We found that a phylogenetic tree inferred from the pairwise distance matrix for unique 18-mers and 22-mers of 124 genomes was fully consistent with the topology of the tree, obtained with concatenated aligned sequences of orthologous genes. Therefore, we propose strain-specific &#8220;barcodes&#8221; for rapid phylotyping. Using unique 22-mers for taxonomic analysis, we detected microbes of all groups in human microbiomes; however, their presence in the five samples was significantly different. Pointing to the intraspecies heterogeneity of E. coli in the natural microflora, this also indicates the feasibility of further studies of the role of this heterogeneity in maintaining population homeostasis. Lam Description An account of the resource Abstract The rapidly evolving landscape of the global COVID-19 pandemic necessitates urgent scientific advances and adaptive behavioural and policy responses to contain viral transmission, reduce impacts on public health, and minimise societal disruption. Epidemiological models of SARS-CoV-2 transmission are heavily influencing policy responses, forecasting viral infection, transmission, and death rates under simplified representations of human behaviour. They either assume that all members of a population or demographic group behave identically or design individual behavioural decision rules based on demographic and mobility data. In pluralistic societies, however, individual behavioural responses vary with personal values, situational contexts, and social group identities, affecting policy compliance and viral transmission. Here, I identify and explore the impacts of salient viral identities or “COVID-19 personality types” that are emerging and fluidly coalescing with each other and existing social and political identities. The resultant heightened inter-group differentiation explains the politicisation of the pandemic and rampant racism, discrimination, and conflict observed now and with epidemics historically. Recognising salient COVID-19 behavioural identities can improve scientific forecasting of SARS-CoV-2 transmission and the likely impact of containment measures, as well as tailor nuanced policies and communications to enhance individual coping and compliance. As governments contemplate easing social-distancing restrictions, the science-society-policy nexus needs fortification through public participation, structured deliberation, and evidence-informed decision-making of policy options to negotiate the complex value trade-offs among public health, the market economy, and civil liberty. By thus valuing human diversity to foster societal resilience, an ethical agenda can be set with a united response to the COVID-19 pandemic and global commons challenges whose impacts are less immediate, but no less dire for humanity.
