Para tal efecto fueron utilizadas mezclas de desechos orgánicos que incluyeron: estiércol vacuno, gallinaza, cascarilla de arroz, pergamino y pulpa de café en iguales proporciones. Todas las mezclas fueron inoculadas con EM (Microorganismos efectivos), excepto el tratamiento testigo (pulpa de café + estiércol de vaca + pergamino de café). La mezcla conteniendo estiércol vacuno, gallinaza y pergamino de café + EM mostró un aumento significativo en el numero de hojas por planta a los 25 días después de la siembra. No se registraron diferencias significativas en el rendimiento por unidad de área; sin embargo, los tratamientos inoculados con EM mostraron un incremento significativo en el peso seco de raíces, así como alto porcentaje de raíces no dañadas al ser comparados con el testigo.
