Ante esta realidad, surge la adaptación como la medida más eficaz para contrarrestar los efectos de este fenómeno, la cual requiere el desarrollo de capacidades institucionales y sociales, que permitan articular los esfuerzos de los actores gubernamentales, sociales y económicos. El artículo plantea el abordaje conceptual sobre la adaptación al cambio climático en los contextos internacional, regional y local; se analizan e interpretan las acciones realizadas en la región Costa Atlántica, para determinar la capacidad de adaptación que permita afrontar las situaciones derivadas de dicho cambio y se indagan las posibilidades en materia de adaptación.   Climate change is a reality facing humanity, a subject of the present and the future, is not a prediction, it is perhaps the greatest challenge that mankind is facing in its efforts to continue living in this world, without distinction between countries poor nor rich, nor between social classes. Given this reality, the most effective adaptation to counteract the effects of this phenomenon, which requires the development of institutional and social capabilities that enable joint efforts of government, as social and economic actors, arises. The article presents the conceptual approach on adaptation to climate change at the international, regional and local contexts; analyzed and interpreted the actions in the Atlantic Coast region, to determine the adaptability which to cope with situations arising from the change and investigate possibilities for adaptation.
