              <text>O Estado de Pernambuco possui sua área territorial dividida em três Regiões com características hidrológicas diferentes. O Sertão, que representa a maior Região do Estado com relação à área física, possui índices pluviométricos que variam de 400 a 800 milímetros, podendo em raras exceções atingir 1.000 milímetros, tendo como período mais chuvoso os meses de janeiro a abril. Na área rural, a população se encontra, em sua grande maioria, distribuída de forma bastante difusa. Diante deste quadro, o Serviço Geológico do Brasil - CPRM realizou o levantamento do potencial e das disponibilidades hídricas subterrâneas nas bacias da região semiárida do Estado. Para a avaliação em relação às fontes hídricas utilizadas nas localidades e a qualidade da água obtida nos mananciais subterrâneos, foram selecionados e analisados Relatórios Técnicos da CPRM.      O cadastramento identificou três tipos básicos de captações subterrâneas: poço tubular, cacimba/escavado e fonte natural, dispostos ao longo de terrenos compostos de rochas cristalinas. Outro tipo de levantamento analisado foi o das finalidades de usos das águas subterrâneas. Do total do cadastramento foram analisados 8.330 poços tubulares (92 %), 513 cacimbas (6%) e escavados e 148 fontes naturais (2%). Para o levantamento da qualidade da água, realizou-se, apenas análises de sólidos totais dissolvidos onde pôde-se definir que: 1.613 pontos analisados possuem água doce; 2.020 pontos analisados têm água salobra; e 2.512 pontos analisados possuem água salgada. Contata-se assim uma tendência a água salgada, esperada para a região em função das condições hidrogeológicas em que estão localizadas as captações subterrâneas. Observa-se então que há potencial para acelerar a solução dos problemas de falta de água para o abastecimento e para a agricultura familiar voltados à população rural difusa, mediante a implementação de tecnologias apropriadas.</text>
