La especie se encuentra en algunos lugares semiáridos y crece en suelos calizos. Hay pocos antecedentes sobre la biología y ecología de esta especie. En este trabajo se describen algunos aspectos de la morfología vegetal de T. moorei, particularmente de la cabezuela floral, relacionados con un mecanismo especial de dispersión de semillas clasificado como autócoro-antitelécoro. En este mecanismo, los aquenios formados en el involucro no caen directamente al suelo durante la deshidratación y secado de la cabezuela, como ocurre en la mayoría de las especies de Tagetes. En este caso, el pedicelo se desintegra y se separa del involucro, y entonces los aquenios se deslizan por dentro del pedúnculo hueco. Este mecanismo de dispersión de aquenios en ambientes semiáridos es poco común en las formas de adaptación de Asteraceae.
