Plant succession patterns on residual open-pit gravel mines deposits Bogota

Título

Plant succession patterns on residual open-pit gravel mines deposits Bogota

Autor

Ricardo A. Mora Goyes

Descripción

Based on both: the study of composition and structure of plant communities and the analysis of the physico-chemical characteristics of mining wastes, the initial patterns of primary succession were determined. These patterns were present in three deposits of waste material abandoned during 18, 36 and 120 months respectively. Sue materials were originated in open-pit gravel mines located to the south of Bogota (Colombia). This study pretends to contribute to the knowledge of the meehanlsms of natural restauration of tropical ecosystems subjected to man-borne degradation.
