Colombia es uno de los seis países en donde se encuentra este ecosistema, que cuenta con una cobertura del 2,5 % en su superficie terrestre (León, Jiménez y Marín, 2015). Sin embargo, diversas actividades productivas –como la agricultura extensiva, la minería y la ganadería– han provocado cambios que alteran su equilibrio natural (IAVH, 2007).
