El objetivo del presente trabajo fue proponer una tipología de almacenes de maíz que permita agrupar características en común. Dicha tipología podría servir como base para focalizar políticas de apoyo diferenciadas. La metodología consistió en las siguientes herramientas estadísticas: análisis de componentes principales y análisis clúster. Se utilizaron datos de 1,158 almacenes de maíz, ubicados en 28 estados de la república me- xicana. Se consideraron las siguientes varia- bles: infraestructura; equipo para el manejo de granos, laboratorio y transporte; registros administrativos y capacidad instalada. Los resultados permiten clasificar a los almacenes de maíz en cinco grupos homogé - neos al interior y heterogéneos entre sí, así como identificar en qué estados es predominante cada clúster.
