Esta especie, caracterizada por presentar hojas, flores y frutos relativamente grandes, los frutos con dehiscencia circuncisa, solo se conoce de las montañas tabulares de arenisca comúnmente llamadas «tepuyes», donde parece ser un elemento florístico bastante común. Se incluye información morfoanatómica y notas sobre su ecología y distribución, y se determina su estado de conservación como LC —Preocupación Menor, de acuerdo con las categorías de la Lista Roja de la UICN—.
