THE GREEN SPACES AND THE EQUIPMENTS OF LEISURE: A SCENE OF BELÉM ABSTRACT: There are multiple ways of exercising power, occupation of space and appropriation of resources in a city, which is, therefore, a locus of tension, of   competitiveness and of differentiation that affect social organization as a whole. Cities in the Amazon region, and Belém as one of its most important symbols, have been experiencing continuous processes of transformation in which lack of parks and leisure sites is a main issue; protected areas are not safe and show precarious infrastructure and access to the few green areas is restricted. Without public policies whose purpose is to solve these problems, Belém tends to become a city that offers few green leisure areas. It is also necessary to deeply think about public spaces and up to what extent they are considered private or “touristified”.   </text>
