Abstract: In this paper we focus on the challenge for Human Rights – one of the greatest inventions of Western culture – that supposes the declaration/recognition of the Rights of Nature, Pachamama, present in the Latin-American Constitutions based on the so called “Andean Philosophy”. Although this seems to be coherent with the logic of the process of development of Human Rights, in the end it questions the very basis of that process and even discriminates the individual. We analyze as well the need of a synthesis between Human Rights and Rights of Nature, taking into account threats like climate change and we conclude with a proposal of “naturalization of the individual” in which some Confucian inputs are included.</text>
