              <text>En el artículo se expone el concepto de Educación Ambiental (EA) en su devenir histórico, tendencias, así como sus similitudes y diferencias con la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (EDS). Ampliando respecto a la EDS no solo como un nuevo término, sino como un proyecto complejo con un fuerte componente de educación prospectiva, conectado a la esperanza, el empoderamiento y la acción, que se fundamenta en la actividad práctica, adecuada a las características del contexto físico y social, exige trabajar colectivamente, gestionar cambios e innovaciones para el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida y aborda temas como la reducción de la pobreza, los peligros de desastres por el cambio climático, la equidad de género, la responsabilidad social corporativa y la protección de las culturas originarias, entre otros.  In the article the concept of environmental education (EE) is exposed in its historical development, trends, and their similarities and differences with the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Expanded as regards the ESD not only as a new term, but also as a complex project with a strong component of prospective education, connected to hope, the empowerment and the action, which is base on the practical activity, adapted to the characteristics of the physical and social context, requires to work collectively, to manage changes and innovations for improving the quality of life and it tackles subjects as the reduction of the poverty, the dangers of disasters because of the climate change, the equity of gender, the social corporative responsibility and the protection of the native cultures, among others.</text>
