Usando dados de fontes primárias e secundárias, são analisadas as relações estabelecidas entre consumidores e vendedores – os quais, em sua maioria, são agricultores – para interpretar as dimensões culturais e econômicas do abastecimento das pequenas cidades. O resultado da pesquisa indica que as feiras se relacionam com a identidade cultural alimentar, o abastecimento de grande parte da população urbana e movimenta parte expressiva da economia local dos municípios.
