Se elaboraron dos formulaciones de briquetas aglutinadas con almidón de maíz: 25/75 almidón/aserrín (lote A) y 36/64 almidón/aserrín (lote B). Los mejores resultados se obtuvieron con las briquetas del lote A: 45,2 ± 0,4 mm diámetro y 101 ± 3 mm longitud; friabilidad < 1 %; humedad 9,4 ± 0,5 %; densidad 0,45 ± 0,01 g/ml; resistencia al aplastamiento 4,5 x 104 ± 0,7 x 104 kg/m2; poder calorífico 20.799 kJ/kg. Se estimó la capacidad de aislamiento térmico a 41,6 ± 0,4 °C y 57,3 ± 0,1 °C; en el primer caso, la superficie de las briquetas se mantuvo en 29,0 ± 0,4 °C y en el segundo, en 34,7 ± 0,8 °C. Los resultados indican que el material obtenido es apto para ser utilizado en revestimiento de interiores, aislante térmico, elemento decorativo o de expresión artística. La implementación de procesos productivos a partir de esta metodología contribuiría a la disminución del deterioro ambiental y mitigación del cambio climático, debido a que retarda la devolución a la atmósfera del CO2 fijado en los procesos de producción forestal.
