Una de las propuestas para trabajar esta cuestión son los huertos escolares. En esta investigación, presentamos una herramienta de análisis sobre los aportes innovadores que en la práctica puede proporcionar un huerto escolar, para aunar procesos educativos y de inserción social en contextos empobrecidos. Aplicamos esta herramienta de análisis, desarrollada a partir de una profunda revisión bibliográfica, a un estudio de caso para mostrar su utilidad. Las principales conclusiones se centran en que, si bien los huertos escolares per se tienen un alto potencial innovador como herramienta educativa, este puede no desarrollarse según sea el origen del huerto, el diseño al que responda, así como el proceso de desarrollo que le acompañe.
