The objective of this article was to outline the socioeconomic profile of family farmers and to analyze the use and appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by family farmers in the Vale do Caí. Eight municipalities with the largest number of family farming establishments were selected, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 375 family farmers. The data were tabulated through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and analyzed from simple statistical treatment and content analysis. It has been verified that family farmers analyzed have access to ICT. However, the use and dissemination of knowledge and technologies by global access to information network still represents a challenge to be overcome in the region.
