El Agua Intermedia Antártica entra por la cuenca de Venezuela y se disemina hacia el norte y pasa al mar Caimán. El posible intercambio de masa de agua central detectado respondería a una tendencia de largo plazo que la convertirían en un factor de cambio climático frecuente para la cuenca.
