              <text>Desde la descripción original de Vesicarex collumanthus por Steyermark (1951), genero nuevo encontrado en el Paramo de Tama en la parte venezolana de la Cordillera Oriental, no se conoee publicaciones posteriores sobre esta diminuta Ciperacea, Vesicarex es un genero monotipico de los páramos del trópico andino. Fitogeogrilficamente, Vesicarex pertenece al elemento endémico O 'Paramo element' de la flora vascular paramuna (Cleef, 1979). Aunque la plantica es bastante inconspicua, hoy día disponemos de suficientes colecciones y observaciones de campo, para la siguiente presentación de datos de distribución y ecología. La forma de vida y aspectos fonológicos, anatómicos y sistemáticos de Vesicarex son tratados por el Dr. Luis Eduardo Mora-Osejo, en artículo separado que aparece publicado en esta primera entrega de 'Acta Biológica Colombiana'.</text>
