Fitogeogrilficamente, Vesicarex pertenece al elemento endémico O 'Paramo element' de la flora vascular paramuna (Cleef, 1979). Aunque la plantica es bastante inconspicua, hoy día disponemos de suficientes colecciones y observaciones de campo, para la siguiente presentación de datos de distribución y ecología.
