Aynı Coronavirüs ailesinde yer alan salgın etkeni SARS’dan (%11) daha yüksek fatalite hızına (%34.4) sahip MERS-CoV salgınları, ilk tanımlandığından bu yana 27 ülkede, 858 ölüm dahil toplam 2494 olgu ile küresel bir halk sağlığı tehdidi haline gelmiştir. Özellikle yakın temas ile bulaşmakta olan MERS-CoV virüsü hastane kaynaklı salgınlara neden olarak insandan insana yayılabilmektedir.</text>
